Looks like it'll be the San Diego Comic Con exclusive....

Click to Enlarge Pics from JD

The cardback's text reads...

These elite and highly skilled clone troopers are under the command of Commander Thire. They are assigned diplomatic and escort duty for high ranking officials in the Senate. In the Clone Wars they also defend the capital from Separatist attacks.

Anyone going to be picking up this figure?

Looks cool. It will go nicely with Fox. Its a pitty I can't go to SDCC, so I won't be able to by it from there. Looks like I'll have to pay the over priced, e-tailer prices.

Does anyone from Australia know if these will come to TRU like last years exclusives did? Thanks in advance.

BTW has anyone played around with the idea that the clone that Curto says is Fox could acually be Thire like it says on the card back?

I don't get it. Cody gets his almost identical markings from RotS. This Shock Trooper (and that he is) looks like a Clone Captain who run out of colour... I'm sure the RotS Shock Trooper markings would look nice on a phase I armor.

i'm just guessing but maybe LFL made this a division of the shocktroopers, or the predecessor for the shockroopers(like the 21st Nova Corps becoming the Galactic Marines).

This looks too much like a clone captain, will probably be overpriced. They should have just slapped the ROTS design on the trooper, that would have been much better looking.

Re: Clone Trooper - Senate Security - SWS Exclusiv

The more and more that I look at the designs for the clones in the upcoming animated movie and TV series, the more I wish Lucasfilm would have kept things simple with AOTC and ROTS.

ROTS was filled with so many odd and silly looking designs (Gree, Utapau clones, shock troopers, 501st....) and yet these new animated clones are really impressing me. Nothing too complicated in terms of paint and design, but effective and much more realistic.

I was originally going to skip these figures, but now I think I'll be picking up the clones

Yeah, the more I see these animated clones the more I like them. I'm still not 100% on board with getting some as they don't look all that different from "realistic" clones in pictures but they do look different enough to notice (and I'm sure it really stands out when they are side by side). I'm just going to have to see them in person before I make up my mind totally on them.

I hope these become available after SDCC, because I wont be able to go. This trooper design does look cool and if the Hasbro toy shop or SWShop start to sell them online, I will buy one or two.

You might want to take a closer look at the label on the front of the packaging. It says starwarshop.com exclusive.

I actually like the figure itself but not crazy about spending $15 plus for it. In the end it is just another clonetrooper that could easily be sold at retail for half or less. Unfortunately I will skip this.

Well, this is alittle something to make me look forward to SDCC.

If it is like the Shadow Biker Scout, it will probably be available online, and made really cheap after a while.

I'm a little let down by the lack of awesome paint job the Phase 1 Shocktrooper has.

i'm impressed by the paint job, look on the trooper's shoulders where you'll see the senate symbol done in white at an extremely small scale.

Re: Clone Trooper - Senate Security - SWS Exclusiv

It would have made more sense to make a commander Thire for the SDCC exclusive, not a clone that some would want to army build.

terrible price - Should be no more than $11.99 -- no more than $9.99 tops - really. SWS is just charging their extortion price b/c they know people will pay it. I'll either get 1 or none of these.

Re: Clone Trooper - Senate Security - SWS Exclusiv

While I wouldn't swear on the Holy Bible (King James ver.) that this item will be $15.00USD I think it is a fair assumption due to the fact that it is:

A) A convention exclusive

&

B) It is packed in a Star Case

Look at what SWS.com charges for their exclusive General Grievous.

I'll still happily buy it at $15.00USD :-]

Re: Clone Trooper - Senate Security - SWS Exclusiv

I'm listing this one in here, because it might be one and the same figure...

A "Commander Thire" figure has been confirmed as an SDCC exclusive figure in the Star Wars Fan Club breakfast announcement

http://www.officialpix.com/estore/proddetail.asp?prod=SDCC%2DBreakfast

I have no idea if this any different from the Senate Security figure we have already seen, and since the armor in ROTS was identical, well....you can se where I'm going with this.

Just chalk up a "Commander Thire" figure for the rumor mill, and the rest will sort itself out next month.

Re: Clone Trooper - Senate Security - SWS Exclusiv

I wonder if SWS.com will be doing pre-orders for this item like they did with the Shadow Scout w/bike from last year.

If they do that will be one less thing for me to worry about standing in line for.

Re: Clone Trooper - Senate Security - SWS Exclusiv

I remember during CIV breakfast, that I didn't attend, they were giving an action figure to all the attendees. That happened to be the McQ Droids, which were available in abundance during and after the Celebration. So if that's the case with this, folks shouldn't worry about this being out of stock...

Re: Clone Trooper - Senate Security - SWS Exclusiv

good point, although I should point out there's a big difference between a pair of droids and a clone.

Not many collectors army build droids. I don't know if these are 2 different figures or just one....but people go INSANE for clones!

Re: Clone Trooper - Senate Security - SWS Exclusiv

Agreed. But also factor in the fact that the droids were McQuarrie concepts made into action figures, they were CIV exclusives, and there were 2 in one!

But my point is the same, this clone will be around for some time.

Re: Clone Trooper - Senate Security - SWS Exclusiv

i love clones and I love army building them, but this is an easy past for me...even if it's going to be available online.

The McQuarrie droids were a must for me since I think they were brilliantly done. i was going to try to collect all the McQuarries but passed on kenobi/yoda simply because they look horrible.

I agree with Sol...these exclusive clones will be around.

WARNING: after three years of collecting...these will be single packed like everything else

The hasbro checklist lists the comic con exclusive as Commander Thire with a date of 7/23 being available on starwarsshop.com. Is this what they are calling Thire, or is there going to be 2 Clone wars exclusives?

As the cardback of the above figure says that he serves under commander Thire, and as he's identified as "clone trooper", I suppose there will be a second figure.

Yeah, that is what I'm hoping. It would be cool if Thire has slightly different armor than his troops.
