Though I wish they just stopped the removeable helmet(non-removeable aka glued in this case) and just give a solid helmet. That helmet looks a little soft and squished.

It kind of irks me that the grunt gets the new superior body and the recent Lieutenant gets the old mold. I know it fits with the other officers, but I don't care - I wanted them all to be reissued and use the newer body.

Agreed. There is potential for a helmet to be glued on crooked the way they are doing it now. I have also been hearing that the bands for the elbow pads tend to break. Personally, I'd take durability over increased articulation. I could live with the articulation of the old mold and the Rex mold.

That said, I will be ordering multiples of these. I just have to hope I get properly fitted helmets and the elbow bands don't eventually break.

Yay, another redo. I'm glad now because I could never find the first Phase I Clone Trooper.
However, I wonder if they're going to remake all the commanders as well, only to reveal another new mold afterwards. :cautious:

Found two of these at Target today. LOVE them. Was put off by the rounder, larger helmet at first, but honestly I kind of prefer it to the classic mold (shown here with the other New Molds, and also with the new Lt. for comparison)

Thanks for the comparison shots. That Clone Trooper Lieutenant looks really off white in comparison to the new Clone Troopers. If I didn't know better, I would think the Lieutenant was an older figure which had yellowed with age.

At least that means it fits in with the other Phase 1 Commanders that have been sitting on my shelves for years 😂

Wow that looks 10x better then the clone from Walgreens.

Definitely want to see more Phase 1 clones going forward though, few commanders and named clones would be easy money makers for Hasbro.

Agreed, this new mold is so good. And I like Phase 1s more than Phase 2, so I'm overjoyed. Really think I'll pick any up if I happen to find more on shelves (ordering online would result in me spending way too much money, but leaving it to fate I can kind of justify!).

A few more comparison shots:

Thanks for the comparison, C234! New helmet looks good in the profile shots, old one definitely looks better from the front. Right side of the new helemt is crooked (at least on this copy).

Anyone have this and a model kit clone head to try some sort of swap? The helmet of this looks horrible. Pulled out my model clone today and it's just better still. Shame they are impossible to get right now since covid.

I got mine yesterday and boy is his helmet warped. No amount of heating is fixing it, it's like the mold itself was lopsided...

That sucks, and it makes me nervous about the two I ordered. I also have yet to receive the four Stormtroopers I ordered, and I am concerned about the condition in which they will arrive. If I can find good ones at a store, I'd buy them and cancel my pre-orders.

Found this figure and the rest of the wave this morning at Walmart. I was going to pick up this guy, but the wavy visor and brow looked horrible (just like in C234's pictures above), plus the gray paint apps for the frown missed and were too low on the helmet. I'll wait and see if any later deliveries look better.

Got this guy today from GameStop.

Credit to Hasbro for taking what was already a good sculpt and making it better.

The pin-less knee joints just look and feel so much better.

It also appears from the box art that another clonetrooper is coming.

As others have said, this sculpt really opens the door for Hasbro to use this new, and IMO superior, mold to the max. The red-yellow-green ranked clones would be cheap and easy to produce, and make them more widely available than they had been previously.

People who are greater clone experts than me can detail the armor differences in the Phase I versus Phase II clones. Could this sculpt be ported over to be used in Phase II clones like a new 501st clone, shocktrooper, etc.? They could case-pack the 501st clones in this sculpt and they'd barely make it out of the shipping boxes at stores, assuming Black Series figures are ever seen in stores again.

For movie/"Realistic" Clones, the only difference between Phase I and II was the helmet. The rest of the armor was exactly the same. Animated Clone Wars style has some differences between Phase I and II, but, that does impact the Back Series figures. So, yes, this new body could be reused for all the Phase II Clones.

Not painting the square box on the "chin" of the helmet kills me. This was one of the only Black Series figures I opened and directly put on the shelf and haven't touched it.

I know the old one had went up in value but this one just was a super dull release. So many cooler repaints we could have gotten.

Yeah I think I'm going to have to paint the chin in as well. I actually was a pretty big fan of the old Phase 1 helmet, so not sold on this one yet. Maybe if they'd start painting the heads underneath. Kinda getting burnt out with this new mould already especially considering the first figure on the mould blows the later 2 away with paint and details.

Truthfully this is one of the last clones I was worried about seeing right now. But he's way cheaper paintwise than the others.

I always just kind of assumed that the whole square chin/mouth area was black but, after looking at as much reference material as I could find, it appears like there is a black "greeblie" inset into the square. There are two raised vertical "bars" sculpted in there, so I took one of those ultra fine tip Sharpies (no political commentary please) and lightly dragged it over the area to highlight them and then dragged it across the bottom horizontally. It looks a little rough in all zoomed in, but in hand I am pretty happy with the results:

Just got two of this guy from Staractionfigures here im the UK and while I rushed to open my vintage collextion mando w/ child and flame stormies, I held off on opening the Clones after immediately noticing the chin paint was missing. After visiting this thread I’m now dissappointed to see that it’s the issue with everyones. Poor show hasbro. Would a blob of paint really affected profit margins that much.

Forgot to cancel my Pulse preorder, anyone need one? 21 + shipping, I usually can ship for just a couple bucks.

Did this ever get a running change for the missing black pant on the chin?
Are they all missing it?
