This figure has been on my wanted list. I would like 2. I just wonder how difficult it will be to order and if we will be limited to ordering 1.

Also, why does this get the new Clone Trooper body but the 501st Trooper did not?
 
Yeah, gonna need a couple of these to flank Obi-Wan. Hopefully with this being Walgreens there's a chance I can obtain them. Historically, I've been able to get the Walgreens exclusives I've wanted one way or another either online or in store.

I like how we have CW Anakin, CW Obi-Wan, and CW Ahoska and their respective troopers to go along with them.

This.

It's not like Hasbro would have to undergo the expense of new tooling to have the 501st use the new clone mold and the 212th use the old one.

I'd have bought the 501st Clone if it featured the new clone body. But because it didn't, I am passing on both.

Hasbro's decision-making has been bizarre this year on multiple fronts.
 
I have 2 of the original ones. Not sure the new body warrants getting another. I know on the Rex page, I said I wasn't getting Rex cause it used the old body, but Rex is one I care about and this clone isn't one I care too much for.
 
Fantastic. I love the BS clones. I got 2 of the order 66 212th troopers, i will get a couple of these as well.
 
Gotta say the helmet is much improved, other than that I'm not sure if this one was really that essential over an as yet unmade Commander.
Still it's nice for those who might want a few and were unable to due to him being in a Multipack previously, although I'm not sure how easy it will be to get one let alone multiples.
 
I need this one for the collection, it looks pretty good.
 
Is it worth pointing out that this isn't technically the same 212th clone being depicted as the original 4 pack, and that that's why this one gets the new body treatment?

As the box points out, this is based off 212th clones from Clones Wars, not from RotS. The original body 4 pack was based off the film.

The difference is this new one lacks the black stripe around the helmet above the visor, The chest markings are also a different shape.

I guess they figured this warranted the new sculpt as that's more of an 'animated' sculpt and this is more of a 'Clone Wars' version.

Still bugs me that the colour is off - it's way too yellow vs what we see in RotS. Technically this is more accurate to Clone Wars this time round at least, but it means they still won't match with Cody.

This mixing of different clone sculpts (sometimes within the same figure) is starting to bug me. Of all the things that should look completely uniform....
 
So I figured the missing black line on the helmet in the show was just cause of the animation style. But apparently it's officially the TCW style helmet?

You might be right about that and I respect your opinions, but IMO thats just nitpicking at highest level. It's still the 212th and if big H now throws out the green one too, I ( and I guess lots of other collectors ) will pull that dreadfull, bigtime scalping 4-pack of the WANTS-list 😉

I mean, sure.

I'm not trying to justify anything or sway preferences or anything like that.

Just pointing out that there's an emerging pattern with this new clone sculpt: it's being used mostly for clones from the animated series. The first use of the new sculpt was for the Kamino trooper seen in the series; the second was Ahsoka's 332nd Company, again a look exclusive to the show. The Elite Trooper from Bad Batch is a mix for.... some reason, but in general uses the most prominent new sculpt elements to maintain the animated look. The Imperial Shocktrooper is also based on the Bad Batch animated style and also uses the new sculpt...

The only exception is the all white Phase 1 trooper, which is specifically called out on the box as being from AotC but still uses the 'animated' sculpt.

This 212th release technically follows that pattern, is all I'm saying. They've changed the printing very slightly vs the 4 pack 212th to give us a TCW clone on what now seems fair to call the TCW clone sculpt.

The 501st archive re-release is still the RotS 501st trooper. Not to say we couldn't also get a TCW style 501st in the new box with the new sculpt and maybe the blue stripe down the arm rather than just the shoulder or something, but if people are asking why x and not y, that's my partial answer of what Hasbro might be thinking.
 
Has Walgreens ever done a pre-order? I'm trying to think back on all my exclusive orders from them, and I don't think any where pre-orders. They only listed them online when in stock.

Hmmmm I don't know. I can't remember for the Phase 1 Lieutenant Clonetrooper.
 
They have. I pre-ordered the Clone Lieutenant last year. And they've done pre-orders for other exclusives, too.

Not anymore sadly. I just also called my local store and he's not yet in the system so hopefully it'll be possible tomorrow - although I've never had any luck like that.

I'm hoping the out of stock message on their site is just the system playing up - I can't believe we have that big a scalper issue up here.

They def have. I’ve ordered a couple Marvel exclusives from them. Their online ordering window is really short usually and then it’ll come back into stock when it starts arriving in stores. This guy and Greedo were the only two I definitely wanted to order today. Well I got an order for Greedo in so that’s something...
 
Sigh. Another exclusive. These store exclusives are usually a kick in the ***** for European collectors because if e-tailers receive a small amount of cases, they always mark-up the prices. So a basic TBS figure like this, which normally costs about 28-30 euros, will increase in price by 10-15%.
