We are really excited to get Rex back out into the line with some great updates for his new Star Wars: The Bad Batch appearance! This Black Series figure has updated weld line colors to appear more blue. He also comes with a new pauldron, new view finder attached to his helmet, and a soft goods cloak with printing to get all the great texture that we see in the entertainment.

I was really hoping for a new mold.

A new mold?! You're asking for too much! Just look at what Hasbro is giving us for $5 more than the new (higher) exclusive price.

You're right, I misspoke (mistyped). I was hoping they'd modify (where applicable) the new Echo to make a new Rex. That's new mold enough. That's what I got my hopes up for. I would have happily dropped coin on that.

A Walmart exclusive and $31.49?!

F U, Hasbro!

Also, what does this mean for the re-release of the red box Rex? We already heard that retailers had been told to stop taking orders for it.
That is absurd he doesn’t even come with anything deluxe. Hasbro is getting worse lately with the prices or maybe retailers are wanting a bigger cut for exclusivity.

I never got Rex from the previous release. If the supposed re-release still happens and I get my preorders, this will be an easy pass. But who am I kidding? I won't be able to secure a Walmart preorder tomorrow anyway so I guess the whole thing is moot. Hopeful for the re-release.

I have the original Rex, but this is an easy YES, take my money as I loved his appearance in the last Bad Batch episode.

What I don't understand is why all these new figs were not shown in last weeks Hasbro reveal video?????

Fortunately I already have Rex and for me a Poncho isn't something I absolutely need to have, especially at $32. That said the detail on it odes look nice. If I'm able to catch it on sale I might budge.

The thing is, if they're releasing this it seems more likely that the reissue of standard Rex really was a mistake and that we aren't getting him after all. If that is the case, anyone who doesn't already have Rex and wants him needs to buy this one which is a Walmart exclusive instead of much easier to acquire fan channel release.

Also, if he is the same as the TVC he has a weird pauldron that is completely different and made so that he can wear the poncho over top of it. If you want to ditch the poncho he will still have that collar-looking pauldron.

Hasbro: I would have happily spent $19.99 or even $22.99 on this.

But at $31.79? Not worth it.

There is not $9 additional value in this figure. There just isn't.

And maybe the price wasn't Hasbro's call. Maybe it was Walmart's. Either way, it's a Hasbro product and it has to grant some kind of approval on a retail price. There's far less extra in this figure than there was the GameStop Cal Kestis.

Hasbro is killing its own sales with exercises like this. I don't want to hear "oh but we didn't increase prices during the pandemic." That's irrelevant what-aboutism. This is a massive eff up by Hasbro, and frankly, has lived up to my much-lowered expectations about the company this year.

Looks like this will be a similar price in the UK as well. I can't wrap my head around it. £30 is too much for a non-deluxe figure. It's £/$5 more than a normal exclusive. The kicker is that it isn't even accurate to the show - as he didn;t have the shorter pauldron and different rangefinder in the episode!

Got this image from Fwoosh. I am puzzled, that helmet and shoulder pad is not accurate to his appearance in TBB show, unless there are more appearances later on...

And its odd that he has both a visor and range finder...

Just want to throw out there that I really hate it when they say "the entertainment". Just seems like cringy corporate marketing jargon to me and I really hate that.

That's what I was saying about TVC version. Pick a lane, Disney/Hasbro. Visor or range finder, not both.

I was excited to see this and was thinking of getting it until I realized it utilizes the old mold for Rex. If they used the new Clone body mold, I may get it, but as is, it's not worth enough for me to get it cause it's mainly the poncho I would want.

I'm very glad I was lucky enough to find the original. The poncho looks nice, but not Deluxe Release Price nice.

A great question. I was being too optimistic in the other thread that this scenario (Red Box preorders get canceled to funnel people to the Bad Batch Rex) wouldn't unfold...but the pieces are falling into place. Of course, the Walmart exclusive nature of this reinforces that the preorders for the other Rex should actually be kept. Can't funnel people into buying something that will only be available once for a few minutes.

The TVC Rex from yesterday's four-pack had the same discrepancies -- and I saw a post online saying it's designed on concept art for how he was going to appear. Which doesn't explain the visor-and-range-finder thing...but does explain why it's not screen accurate.

Is "the entertainment" the new marketing-lingo-speak?

10,000% agree. It's so gross. And when they say it, you can just picture the all-hands meeting where everyone discussed that consumers no longer react well to the word "content."

Definite pre-order. That is if they are not all sold out in the first 30 seconds.

I especially like the markings on the arms.

For me, Hasbro saying "the entertainment" is just as annoying as when I hear law enforcement say "vehicle" instead of car or truck or whatever.

I was wondering the same thing about the costume.

It is based off the Concept Art from the episode.

Lucasfilm probably gave Hasbro the concept art for Rex and they ran with it so they can have the figure out around the time the show airs.

Obviously the animators and show decided to give him his traditional look from TCW.
