The cats out of the bag with an image leaked out of this figure

What does everyone think of the 6" Chewbacca figure? Looks like the same body with a slightly different head, not so exciting really....

I'm not so sure what to make of it. Is we even sure it is a sequel trilogy Chewie? In any case, I already bought the current Chewie, and I really doubt I'll get a virtually identical Wookie unless there's a really really good reason for it. That being said, it does look like it be an improvement.

TFA's what, like 30 years after ROTJ? Would there be any visible aging on Chewie at that point? A stray grey, here and there, maybe a little lightening of the fur around the eyes? The head-sculpt is enough for me to buy it, but I'd like to see something appropriately different in the paint. Shock of white from fur growing back funky from a blaster-scar? . . . Something.

This Chewie might just be there for scale reference but i suppose it could be an easy repack/repaint to add to a TFA wave.

You KNOW Hasbro is always looking for a cheap repack...of all the characters released thus far in TBS6", this is the only character that would require very few changes to add into a wave with the new characters. If Chewie is part of a TFA wave, then it means that BB8 will be added as an accessory to the "Rey" figure.

It's unpainted, but the new head looks really good. I'm glad the bag will be different too, for at least a little more difference between this Chewie and the one we have now.

At the time of the original trilogy, Chewbacca was 200 years old, if I remember correctly, and he still seemed in his prime. For a species with that length of a lifespan, 30 years should reflect similar to a few years in a human lifespan. He also did not show much aging in the 20 years between the Clone wars, and the events of A New Hope. With that in mind, he should look very similar to how he did around the time of the Return of the Jedi.

He'll look the same but won't move the same, Peter Mayhew has leg problems atm (walks with a cane) so I wouldn't expect to see Chewbacca running or anything unless someone else was in the costume. It would've been cool if the costume and the toy had a cane for him to use similar to any Yoda figures.

There's been confirmation of Peter Mayhew's stunt double---on MakingStarwars.com, I think. There's supposedly a scene involving solo and Chewbacca that will require some more active physical movement, so it makes sense they have someone who can take over for Mayhew in those scenes.

Is that where Harrison Ford broke his leg?

Harrison Ford didn't let the wookiee win... he learnt his lesson. :p

You would think after 30 years he would at least have some different attire besides that strap and pouch.

It makes sense. Don't want your attention-span-deficient 2015 audience mistaking him for somebody else.

so, how big is the difference from the BS6 one that came out not too long ago? I feel like I might be ok with the one I already have.

This one has a new head and bandolier. Looks like it has more of a closed mouth. I've also been wondering if he'll have a new crossbow for this movie.

Interesting... So when mayhew is in costume, he'll just be standing around growling. But when he's actually walking, running, or any other activity, it will be a the stunt guy.

Who could they possibly mistake him for? Not like he's a Droid, Rodian or any other Alien that shows up 5 times in one scene.

It would actually make some sense, if he at least had some grayish fur. Or possibly a different style of pouch.

Yeah, this doesn't make sense to me. I'm sure Chewie will look pretty similar.

This is one of those cases where being the same would actually be preferred.

Chewie, R2, 3PO.

I hope they work in R5D4 somewhere in this movie. If I made the movie, he'd be prominent in the story somehow.

they better give him some grey hair and battle damage... but wookies do live a loooong time like 400 years!

Whats the difference in this Chewy and the one we already have? looks almost identical to me. easy pass.

Different Bandolier and a new head with a closed mouth and calm expression. Also slightly different paint.

No point in getting this figure when the one we already have is definitive enough. Should've put the tooling dollars into getting a new Han, Luke, or Leia out sooner rather than later.

I'm not sure it's an issue of tooling rather than it's a issue of spoilers, I think they don't want Han, Leia or Luke on shelves until the film is out. The only exception I can see being made is Han, since he's in the trailers.

I'm pretty sure that's the case as well and more than likely we'll see all three on shelves in January, and in multiple formats too, but there's plenty of other options they could have gone with in the meantime than a slightly altered head sculpt and a new accessory that isn't that significant...unless somehow Chewbacca's bandoleer holds the secret to TFA in its entirety...

To be quite honest I really don't understand why they're releasing this new version of Chewbacca. There is no major difference in this new version. Why bother?

You don't see why hasbro would release another chewbacca that isn't that much different than the previous version?

LOL Seriously for a slightly retooled head ya'll are ready to fork over another 20$ to Hasbro??? If I'm paying top dollar I want an all new figure not just a slightly modified head and a slightly different accessory. just my two cents. I had an issue with three clones in the 6 inch line coming out of the exact same sculpt just a minor difference in paint and re-release it as a "new" figure. I'd much prefer something new and different. If they are going to make chewy again resculpt him give him new accessories and a new paint scheme and not just a slightly altered head get real.

First off, I'm not worked up about this, so no Need for me to calm down. I'm already more than down about this Launch anyway and I don't think I can go any lower or at least I hope I can't go any lower.;)

Next, this may be for new collectors, but I'm sure Hasbro would be more than pleased if they could sucker all of us into buying this "new" version of Chewbacca.
