With the amount of lead time on this show, everyone should have plenty of days to get their prized costume done and ready to show off to Star Wars fans from all over the world! What will you be appearing as in Anaheim?

As with my artists print post, I hope there are screen shots/trailers released that we can see new costumes to begin working on far enough ahead of time.

Oh, there WILL be a costume. I'm in the process of growing out my hair and beard to match Ewan's in RotS.

I am with the 501st Bast Alpha Garrison and the Rebel Legion Dagobah Base. I will probably bring my TK armor and Wedge Antilles X-Wing Pilot attire. Would love to bring all my armor and costumes but those 2 are my favorites.

I've been kicking around the idea of dressing up as X-Wing Luke. I have nothing right now, so I'd have to start buying costume pieces from eBay. Not sure what I'd do about the helmet since the eFX helmet (which I don't own) is too pricey to buy and carry around. I also don't think I'd want to dress up every day.

Do you guys think it's a lot to do for one day? Is it a hassle wearing full costumes to a con?

I wouldn't just buy the X-Wing costume for the show either. I would like to get a mannequin to display it permanently in my mancave.

Check out the Rebel Legion site.

Get your costume done and approved and you could be using the costume year round at troops. B)

Keep in mind when wearing a costume, expect to be stopped for pics. Most people in costume wear it for a few hours (depending on costume) go back to their hotel room to change back to regular clothes.

I think I trooped 3 times at CVI. I'd be in armor about 2-3 hours for a day.

question for anyone that has dressed for Celebrations or other conventions that they had to fly to get too.

I'm planning on dressing as Jedi Luke Skywalker for CVII as well as an Imperial Officer and i want to bring both my Stormtrooper blaster as well as a custom made Skiff Guard blaster for the Luke Costume in addition to Luke's signature Lightsaber and possibly the FX version as well.

How did you transport the props? did you just pack them in your checked luggage or did you ship them to the hotel you were staying at and hope for the best? I watched Heroes of Cosplay and they seem to ship their props to the hotels. I'm planning on calling the hotel and seeing if they will allow me to send a package to them.

I'm also going to contact the airline and see what they recommend as well. I just don't want any surprises. I've tried contacting the 501st but have not heard back a response yet.

I sent my Captain Rex armor at CVI to my hotel, using FedEx. I had no issues (aside from the HIGH price of shipping). Well, I did worry about it arriving safely. It did though. The hotel did charge me to accept the package.

Keep in mind, if you send a blaster, TSA can consider it a weapon and confiscate it. And that's sending it in your luggage. I've heard stories of 501st members that have send their armor on the planes and it didn't end well. They included detailed pics and what was in their bins, including pics of them in the armor. Once they arrived, they realize the TSA had gone through and pretty much destroyed their armor.

I had thought about shipping my armor or flying with it but hearing all of the horror stories has made me re-think that decision.

The wife said she would be ok with a road trip instead, so I'll be towing my TK along with me to CVII!

Looks like Captain Deadmau5 will be coming out of retirement at CVII. This is my V2, since my first one cracked.

This was my V1:

I'll be an Endor Rebel for one day - the first time that I have ever costumed.

Was planning on sending my rifle in a gun bag as checked luggage with the airline, but reading this thread is making me nervous about that.

how are people towards plus size cosplay? I'm 6'5" and 300 lbs but I love Star Wars and I'm really looking forward to dressing as the characters. I know I could never pass as Luke Skywalker but I'm really hoping to wear the costume anyway as well as a sorta of SOTE version as well. I'm planning on Fed-Exing my gear to the hotel.

are people going to be extremely judgmental of a plus size tall Luke Skywalker?

Thanks deathstar1000.... I'm always worried about how I look. self esteem kinda of thing. I'm trying to lose weight but I'm extremely nervous about cosplay but I'm going to give it a shot and see how it works out.

I'm thinking of investing in Stormtrooper armor as well.

Nothing new for me this time. I'll be Porkins on Friday and Rancor Keeper on Saturday. Darth Vader (from Vulcan) may also make an appearance.

Nothing too fancy, but I'll be wearing a pretty legit Han Solo costume(ANH) and my girlfriend will be Leia (ANH). The twist with mine is that I'll also be wearing a Deadpool mask. I can't help it, I love Deadpool too and the thought of combining him and Han sounds fun. Probably be wearing them Friday and/or Saturday.

I cosplayed for the first time ever at Celebration Anaheim. It was fun. I was just a generic Prequel Jedi, but I still enjoyed it and I'll always remember that first time someone asked to take their picture with me dressed up.

I'm looking forward to doing that more often!

Welcome to the world of cosplay! Yeah, that first time someone asks for a pic with you is something special. Heck, I still have a big smile on my face when I keep getting stopped for pics in my armor.

had a horrible experience shipping my items to CVII. I used FedEx express 2 day shipping and my weapons were beyond destroyed. My MR ESB Luke Blaster was actually broken in 3 different places and pieces were missing and my EFX Stunt ROTJ Lightsaber was snapped in half and damaged beyond repair. I also lost my Skiff Guard blaster in the process.

the box that FedEx delivered to my hotel looking like someone used it for target/soccer practice, showed signs of tampering with (the tape was actually cut and then new tape reapplied, and there were holes in the box large enough for me to put my foot through (and I have a size 13 foot). I had the items wrapped in 6 layers of bubble wrap, then wrapped in a heavy wool cloak and then packed with packing peanuts as well. upon opening the box the items were removed from the bubble wrap and the holes in the box were actually leaking the packing peanuts. the FedEx representative at the Hotel (Anaheim Hilton) gave me a look of "hey, it's not my problem" and the customer service has been beyond horrid. I placed $1000.00 worth of insurance on the box and had around 10 fragile stickers on the box as well and nothing. I was told by Customer Service that in order for them to give me the value of the props I had to get in contact with someone from Master Replicas, show them the damaged blaster and request a certified statement that the item is beyond repair. I explained to FedEx that the company is out of business but they could care less. they actually told me to check the yellow pages for a movie company that makes props "as movies are being made everyday" and see if they could evaluate the damages.

I think the next time I go to a convention with my props I'm either driving to the show or trying to have them inspected at the airport and then hopefully being allowed to have them in my carry on.

I will never use FedEx again. worst company ever.

Dang, sorry to hear that. :(

Can't believe they won't give you the money you insured them for!

Of course they won't. The U.S. Post Office also fights tooth and nail not to have to reimburse for insured packages. On the one hand, I can understand that they want to be careful to prevent rampant insurance fraud; but on the other hand, the USPS in particular pushes people to pay extra for insurance, so they should honor the claims against them.

well I'm currently fighting them now. I had to send the items in question to their claims department in Utah and from there they determine the value and from there they will send out a check of what they feel is a good amount. I can either dispute the amount in which they would resend the damaged goods back to me and then I would be forced to either take the hit or pursue legal action in the courts.

I forwarded them pictures of the damaged box, the damaged items before and after as well as current market values that were close to what I paid for them (I used Amazon) and I'm hoping that something good will come out of it.

My blaster is beyond repair as I'm actually missing pieces from the shipment. the scope was completely ripped off as was the handle and the barrel was snapped off, the lightsaber's ring was ripped off and missing, the control panel missing and ripped off, it was bent in the top part of the by the grip and the top of the lightsaber was all cracked and banged up and missing pieces. Also the pummel of the lightsaber was all chipped and broken.

I have pics on my twitter feed for anyone that wants to check them out.

Did you try Facebook? Companies tend to help more when it's out in public.
I've tried Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and have repeatedly tried blasting FedEx on multiple occasions.

the thing that really gets me upset over this is the fact that FedEx is the company that packed the box and the contents, put the "
fragile" stickers on the box and inspected the items before they were shipped. there is no excuse as to why the box was opened in transit and the contents removed from the packing materials and then broken. even if FedEx scanned the box on felt the items were a danger they still should have contacted either myself or the FedEx office where the items were packed and asked if they were considered "real" weapons or not. as no phone calls were placed I feel the fault lies 100% with FedEx.

I just received a response back from my email to the claims department that they staff is on vacation for the Memorial Day Weekend and will not be able to give me a decision till after June 6th.

well I won the battle... FedEx has agreed to pay my claim on the items as well as reimburse me the shipping charges. Yesterday they tried to settle with me at an extremely low ball number ($185 for the blaster and $99.00 for the lightsaber) but I fought with them and was able to get the $1000 for both (which is great as I will be hopefully able to buy them again in the future).

I will truly never use FedEx again. I think the next Celebration (hopefully if it's in Orlando) I will drive to the show this way if anything gets damaged in transit it's my fault.
