Case assortments have just been released, looks like the first wave will be packed evenly at one per case:

Wave 1:

•1x 01 Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Pilot, Episode IV)
•1x 02 Darth Maul (Episode I)
•1x 03 R2-D2
•1x 04 Sandtrooper

That's good news :)

Unless you're the second guy to the pegs.

I'm interested to see how this all plays out. I think the four they chose, should do well. The question will be what hangs the longest. I think the sandtrooper will go quickly because it's a different size and any kind of stormtrooper is a big seller. R2 is cool and all, but a smaller figure at that price might make some people wait on him.

Didn't we already know this? Four per case, right? Call me when we hear about wave 2. :)

With only four figures per case, it could quickly become a headache if they start having carry forwards. I'm sure at some point, they'll have cases with 2 new figures and 2 greatest hits carry forwards.

I'm not surprised that there are only 4 figures per case, though. I just hope Hasbro has some really interesting characters in the case when they bring out the stormtrooper. That one will be snatched up quickly, so his case mates need to be good to keep up with him.

it needs to be

Wave 1:

•2x 01 Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Pilot, Episode IV)
•1x 02 Darth Maul (Episode I)
•1x 03 R2-D2
•3x 04 Sandtrooper

naw, those are going to go like hot cakes, i wasnt concerned with how many per case, just what people would want, but if you want to drop one, drop the second Luke....

I think the sandtrooper will move the fastest. R2 could lag a bit because of the size/price comparison. Maul will go quickly as well because there are a lot of Maul/Sith fans out there. Luke should do fine at first, but I don't know if he has as much staying power as other Lukes.

So wave 2 is confirmed, and this is what we're expecting for wave 3, right?

Wave 2:
Slave Leia
Boba Fett
Han Solo
Greedo

Wave 3:
Bespin Luke
Stormtrooper
Obi Wan (ROTS)
Anakin (ROTS) ???

Yes, odd that they haven't showed Anakin yet.

I'll get everything in wave 2, but only the OT figures in wave 3 interest me. However, I like they way they're packing these cases. Han is an easy sell, but Greedo becomes almost a must paired with that Han. Obi and Ani from E3 together is a good move as well. People won't stand in the store and wonder when they'll get the other of the pair because they're in the same wave.

Maybe that means we'll see wave 4 or 5 with Obi-Wan (ANH) and Vader together. They almost have to put Vader in wave 4, right? How long can they go without him?

Who knows...they're pairing a lot characters together, minus artoo and c3po :{. Hope to see chewie, vader, & goldenrod in wave 4. That might be pushing it though

Yes, they do have a number of classic main figures left to add into the line: Tat. Luke, Obi-Wan, Vader, C-3PO, Chewie, Leia, but I can't see them crowding waves 4 and 5 with all of those figures.

while i am not a 6" fan (for lack of a better word, sw 3 3/4 scale is all i need) what would be cool since they are pairing somewhat...Chewbacca and c-3po whjere 3po includes removable limbs, carry bag, and maybe an alt silver leg. Then pairing chewie and 3po in same wave would make sence why they werent paired w/ han and r2 (easily can be considered paired w/ luke pilot) respectively

Maybe Hasbro will make us wait for the Vader like SS did when they got the 1/6 scale license.

although i previously said pairing chewie and 3po in a wave would be ideal, maybe chewie and vader may be too tall for standard packaging and if ig88 rumor is true, hasbro may elect to creat a wave w/ alt sizt packaging and shipping case. The have in past released a wave in an alt case size such as the tac hermie oddle and destroyer droid cases, the case the included elphant mon was larger than average saga cases. Maybe vader is being held back until a reasonable mix w/ taller figs is feasible....vader, ig88, chewie make up 3/4 taller figure case could be a good idea i suppose. who'd make a 4th taller addition?..i guess 3po could still be in that mix, w/ hermie odle and dest. droid, they added a folded cardboard insert to fill an emtry void in the case created by the extra large bubbles

Is Anakin confirmed for wave 3 with Bespin Luke, ep3 Ob-Wan and Stormtrooper or is there hope of Hasbro double packing the stormtrooper?

So I will be buying all of wave 2, and only 2 figures from wave 3.

Grievous with 2 sets of arms and 4 lightsabers could make a good 4th.

You know Hasbro is going to make him eventually...and I'm very interested to see how he'll be packaged (and what is included with him).

yeah grevious would make a viable 4th for a wave of "extra tall" figs. Don't know how or why ay brain froze while thinking of a fourth. As grevious would keep up w/ average of 1 pt to 3 ot percase/wave

Remeber those Target TVC 3 packs with the floating Vader? They might end up packaging larger figures like that, although the large figure case is rather interesting.

Hasbro isn't going to do a a wave of "extra tall" figures. That's not how they cost balance the line. More likely, it'll be Yoda and IG-88 in a wave, Jawa and Chewbacca in a wave, R5-D4 and Vader... etc, etc, etc.

Dub's right. That's why the Gam Guard came in a case with R2 and Wicket to cost balance the wave. I'm sure they already looked at how to package larger figures.

Look at the 12" line from back in the day. They solved the problem by making vader too short, chewie a bendable pipe cleaner, and ig had retractable legs. When they got serious about the line, chewie and gam guard were kb exclusives in bigger boxes and vader was redone in a larger box and was the only figure in that wave. That's what I'm basing my speculation on. I really can't hasbro just cramming those figures in the standard box with their heads "cut off" by the window.

Hasbro will put the figure lower in the packaging with the feet closer to the bottom of the box. Look at all the space from the bottom up to Luke's feet. Same with Maul and the Sandtrooper. There's almost an inch below their feet and up to half an inch above their heads.

Hasbro will not make larger boxes for Chewie, Vader or Grievous. Why is this so hard to understand?

well sometimes hasbro can't or won't do something so simple ;)

OK you big dummy, let's do some math. Chewbacca is 2.28 meters tall which would translate into 7.48 inches. Assuming his feet touched the very bottom of the box and weren't in a plastic tray, the window come up 3/8th of an inch to short. Now factor in the thickness of the plastic tray and it's now more than half an inch too short. So, would Hasbro package the "premium" figures in a way that would cut off the head? While I personally wouldn't care, I think a lot of collector would be put off by that.

So, you could make the window larger, but then the Star Wars logo and circle with the figures head would have to be made smaller. That wouldn't look very professional next to the rest of the figures now would it?

Like I said earlier, look at how they handle these issues in the 12" line. I don't at all expect to see a case of tall figures, but I do expect some retailer exclusives down the road that include Chewbacca and Vader, just like they did with the big guys in the 12" line. Is that so had to understand since the precedence has already been set?

Now I could very well be wrong, so feel free to throw it back in my face next year, but right now based on what I've seen I'm sticking to this theory. Vader will be in some special packaging, possibly with half a meditation chamber and Chewie will be a store exclusive or worse some SDCC nonsense.

Look at blister cards. Those bubbles change size all the time. I think you could adjust the window in a section and alter printing and design easily for larger figures.

Well, you are very mature.

Remember when R2 was smaller in scale than he should be? They can easily make Chewie shorter to accommodate the packaging if he is a general release. Or depending on how his legs are articulated, they could put them at a slightly bent at then knees pose as if he was running.

It's either going to be that or an exclusive release in different packaging.
