I was looking around in an old desk in an outbuilding for some old papers, and I found these (they were hidden under some long-obsolete thermostat instructions). I knew I had them somewhere, but I haven’t seen them in 14 years. I’ve now placed them in a much better spot—with my actual collection!

I’ve had them since 1980-1985:

useless old carboard to most and priceless significant childhood memories for others. Good for you Tulgah and glad you found them. Most of SW collecting is about going back in time to remember happy small but significant little things just like this. 🤖

Exactly! It’s like they become artifacts. Even without the nostalgia or the monetary value, these types of things take on a totemic meaning for their own sakes. Even if I have three Kenner Greedo, if I find a beater missing an arm at a yard sale, I’ll buy it just because of what it is. It’s not so much an obsession as it is a way of life.
