I wouldn't be surprised since Tron design concepts are Disney assetts. I really wish George Lucas was onboard with the design focus. Obviously he wasn't a concept artist, but he got their best out of them, or at least got "Star Wars" out of them. I'm sure someone would disagree, because praising George Lucas for anything is controversial, but they'd be just plain wrong. This looks more like it would be in TRON than Star Wars.
I agree. It's like the worst mini rig ever thought of brought to life. But we will see in a day or two.
Imagine seeing this brought to life.. I think I might geek out just a little.
Very cool. Honestly, I hadn't even looked up Canto Bight online (on Wookieepedia or anywhere else) before I posted. I was just a huge fan of the Han Solo novels, and remember years ago even having a Sourcebook from West End Games - the b&w illustrations of the Corporate Sector security forces reminded me a lot of the way the security forces looked on Canto Bight in TLJ.My good man, you called it. From Wookieepedia:
"Cantonica was a desert planet in the Corporate Sector of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories that was home to the casino city Canto Bight."
Actually, as mentioned above, it seems that Canto Bight was under the jurisdiction of The Corporate Sector Authority (though it wasn't stated as such in the film). So, based on the Daley Han Solo books, the police force's aggressive nature was spot-on re: depicting how the CSA acted. While they aren't exactly a totalitarian force, they do work for the wealthy (also as seen in TLJ), and made sure that any criminals/evil-doers/smugglers/etc. are either kept in line or arrested. This is why Han Solo & Chewie kept butting heads against them in the books.I don't mind it, but it doesn't suit the police force on that world. They're quite aggressive looking and seem suited close quaters aerial combat. I would have much prefered seeing those speeders in action, that did nothing but got trampled and blew up. Definitely should have saved them for a more hostile planet like Nar Shaddaa or Ord Mantel..assuming they might appear in the Han Solo film.
Agreed! The brutal security force makes perfect sense in the context of the scene(s) in TLJ, and makes even more sense when you realize the source material:Wow, the connection to the Han Solo novels is pretty awesome! Their brutal nature/look didn't bother me in context. Since Cantonica (or at least Canto Bight) attracts wealthy clientele, it makes sense to me they'd they want a showy, brutal police force keeping the "rabble" in line.
