Who’s going to purchase this pack?

It was a nice surprise, but I'm personally on the fence about it. Some of these guys would technically fit into my Clone Wars display, and I've read that some of the designs fit into the Bad Batch? But it's not enough for me to bite just yet.

I love the shifty Hammerhead eyes, though.

This was a surprise. I have mixed feelings though. Most were expecting a different cantina set with new characters but this is essentially a repack of figures no one was requesting in TVC except for blue snags, the only redeeming figure. I would never buy most of these as single releases. This diorama, though fun, would have been appropriate for a true retro release. While I don’t hate it and will get one for the blue Zutton, that’s four missed opportunities for new patrons. But this is Hasbro’s MO: find new ways to sell old stuff. Again four new or upgraded characters that could’ve scratched that OT itch, but this is what they deliver. I‘m not expecting anything special for Gleam. Arleil? I wish. As if we’re that lucky. *****fest over. Carry on.

Hahaha, well, can't say I'm too surprised this happened. Had these been the unlocks for the Cantina, but Snaggletooth and Walrus Man had far more tooling, if not new tools altogether, I think we could've avoided some of the complaints people had about locking figures like the Tonnikas and Wuher behind the Haslab. However, I think the issue was always going to be how many people would want these.

Eh, it's a neat set and it's fine for what it is. I'd say my biggest gripe is how they went about doing Blue Snaggletooth. I was hoping that whenever they did decide to address him, they would make something similar to the OTC version or how he appears in animation. Unless this set goes on sale, I'll probably skip it.

I'll take these one at a time.

Blue Snaggletooth. I like the card. Figure doesn't match that guy though. The POTJ Zutton does...

Inaccuracy aside, I'll take this Blue Snags.

Walrus Man. Hate the card. Figure is a poor repaint, No thanks.

Hammerhead. Card is okay, the forthcoming regular color release will do for me. Pass.

Greedo. Okay card. Like his Kenner colors. I'll want him.

So two for four. For those who really want them all, that's cool.

Not to nitpick too much but they are all cantina patrons where they're supposed to be drinking and there isn't a single cup/glass.

given how in '78/79, kenner didnt match fig to pic, i think that was the intent here. Besides, if hasbro brought out that old potj mold just to repaint it blue, imaging the outcries

Frankly, this isn't for me and that's fine. I like the niche factor and was fully expecting these to get covered at some point. My biggest hang up is that its a wholly inaccurate Snaggletooth. Had it been accurate take I'd have been slightly more inclined to cave on this set as I do find Hammerhead neat for background fodder. Greedo as well to an extent, but Ponda oof..
Not exactly itching to spend $65 for one figure. In that regard I would have preferred a "Fan Channel Wave" so I could pick just one. If I thought other would be interested in the unwanted figures I'd try to sell/trade them off but that has become too much of a hassle anymore.

You’re forgetting the Blue Snaggletooth they made years ago based on that POTJ Zutton which perfectly matches the new cardback…

I’m on the fence with this one.

None of these figures could end up in my HasLab Cantina, but they might look good in the streets of Mos Eisley.

If I do get them, they’ll be representing the Clone Wars/Bad Batch characters which were inspired by the vintage figures.

I’d be less offended by this if it was revealed after a pack of new cantina aliens. I’m over it now but my initial reaction was just frustration. (Assuming we still get a realistic pack of cantina aliens…)

I actually wouldn’t mind Hammerhead and Snaggletooth for fodder, but that Walrus Man is really bad. Hurts to look at. 😂

If you got a Haslab I'm not sure that will be much an issue.
True and I get what you're saying. I have plenty of glasses and cups already and the cantina will provide a whole lot of small accessories. But I'm just thinking there's probably a kid (or adult) with a much more modest collection and budget who doesn't have a Haslab cantina ordered. The Saga Momaw Nadon had a cup (and staff) as did TVC Ponda Baba. I also get that the old cards didn't match up to the figure deco of the Kenner figures, but the Walrus Man is one I don't think I'd ever want, carded or the figure loose with what many have expressed as pinheaded and the least welcome of these guys. But since these are definitely coming and there's enthusiasm by some, I don't want to be too down on this.

LOVE this!
How can Aussies get it since we can't go through Hasbro Pulse?

STAR WARS: THE VINTAGE COLLECTION CANTINA ADVENTURE 4-PACK / Approx. This set is the type of oddball thing I love to collect. The figures would be great for just out of sight extra backgrounders. But I quit TVC last year so I probably won't be picking this up.

Well, here are my thoughts on this set.

Overall, I think it's neat. Silly and whimsical and usually they reserve those kinds of items for The Black Series, so I'm glad they're getting a little goofy with TVC.

That said, the backdrop is just a bad idea. It's a Retro styled backdrop which only belongs with Retro styled figures. If they made this with some ANH Retro Collection figures, great. But it doesn't belong with TVC, no matter how Kenner-inspired the paint deco is. They could have made a photo-real backdrop that might have even paired with the cantina, so that's a missed opportunity.

As for the figures: I dig Greedo a lot. My favorite of the bunch. I also really like the blue Hammerhead and this saves me the trouble of buying the overpriced deluxe version with accessories I don't really want, anyway. So I'm happy to have this be my "main" Hammerhead in the cantina, alongside the Saga one, which may have limited articulation, but which will still look good standing in a bar, which is all I need him to do.

Blue Snags? Sure, it's fine. Yeah, it'd be nice if they made an all-new one with a spacesuit, but that will never happens, so it's fine.

The only one I don't like at all is the Walrus Man. The aesthetic just doesn't work. I guess there was no real way to capture the original paint job (with his weird unitard) on the standard jacket-wearing body, but the end result is just odd. I might give it away or use the blue pants for, I dunno, a new republic officer custom.

Maybe go w/o vest like greedo, swap out arms (or torso if keeping the battle damaged arm feature) and add the flipper from this set as an option for display..

Hmm, maybe I could trade my extra andor k2so for someone's unwanted WM from this set, l think i may still have a loose set of those flippers in my parts bins.....lol

I don't mind the idea but I don't think I would ever use the figures. The colors just seem extra odd in the super articulated style.

I love the box and the cardboard backdrop though, so I wish I could get those alone. lol

We will see if it hits a pulse discount or people part it out when it comes in.

I appreciate the nod to nostalgia, dig the repaints. Not my bag, but enjoy! If I didn’t back the Cantina Haslab, might bite.

As it is, I’m in for the Landspeeder, and Bantha, can’t really justify another 70 bucks on repaints

I printed this one out years ago…

It’s neat but not something I really need.
Kinda wish they removed the stormtrooper who doesn’t scale well with the figures but that’s just me.

When I first saw this I was thinking it was a retro set. 🤷‍♂️

The more I stew on this, the less I think I’ll get it.

With all the older versions of these figures I have and don’t display, I really don’t need more. The figures getting updated this year are creating even more churn to figure out what to do with. I should just use those figures in Mos Eisley.

I also have an excellent repro of the original background I use with my Vintage/Retro figures.

It's interesting reading some of the chatter about this set, seems people think this belong in Retro more than TVC, can't say I disagree that sentiment as I think aesthetically they would look better. But I'm not completely repulsed by its existence, it's simply a mixed bag for me versus what could be a homerun.
