Can we have a serious discussion about Arleil Schous?

(lol)

The most interesting looking character from the Haslab cantina gets placed in the final tier, which I always knew was unrealistic to achieve, so please slate him in the mainline asap, because he'll be a fan favorite that will dominate polls from now on, otherwise. Something like that can't be teased, and then jettisoned into unproduced figure territory. As a matter of fact, just repack all the figures from the Haslab cantina into a multipack and put Arleil in the set to sweeten the pot, that will increase your profit margin heavily by offering so many repacks at once, and it makes thousands of other consumers happy!

There is a really good chance we get this guy.

Given how the Ghost campaign worked possibly before we get the cantina :D

I really hope so. I honestly almost wanted Arleil more than the cantina itself. He's been my #1 most wanted cantina character since I started collecting cantina characters after Hasbro began producing cantina characters beyond the original Kenner favorites. He's one of the most memorable patrons for me because of the glowing red eyes and the fearsome growl. No idea why Lucas wanted to cut his main scene when he was literally one of the coolest, most badass looking characters in the cantina.

I really hope we can get his figure and I hope it's not too long after the cantina releases. I don't think the figure quite captures how cool he looks in the movie (a lot of that is due to lighting and the glowing eyes, of course), but I still need him.

Also Hasbro, if you're listening! (I know they're not, but shh): Release Arleil, he comes with a bonus head that has a light piping feature hidden in the back of the head and transparent red eyes so that his eyes can light up. Also less dirty jacket please.

yes, Arliel is highly wanted. Much of the reasoning for slow backing on this campaign was a combination of a few factors: a) the shortened time fame (customers had been accustomed to 45-46 days, not 32). b) Too close to both the Ghost campaign (backers are still a few months away from delivery) and the upcoming GI Joe- many backers collect multiple lines and were forced w/ a hard decision- Cantina or GI Joe. c) technical issues at the end. There were many reports of several markets that were experiencing order completion issues and in the case of Texas, massive power outages that prevented any type of online activity. If feasible, a SDCC special order window (during SDCC only -especially if cantina playset is planned for display)- would be highly appreciated either for more cantina set (that's be beneficial to those from TX and/or internationals that had check-out issues) or a Sabine/Chopper type set w/ Ariel and maybe a second figure planned to be released later anyway or a Marvel comic colored repaint of 1 Tonnika- the pink/yellow /white helmeted blond version- tooling is there, why not?).
Showing us all tiers at the beginning give many false hopes and allowed fear of commitment to push some buyers into backing an item they feared would not reach all tiers. Tier management of The Razor Crest is a good example- reveal only 1 tier at a time when the previous tier is met. This would avoid any expectations of what a "full" project would include. We are now in a position of knowing Arliel is possible yet still unknown if he will ever be inside our cantinas. That extends to other hopeful future releases. We have this massive cantina but what figures to fill it? At the moment we have 9 future figures, 4 of which are NOT strictly cantina scene fillers. We will need MORE cantina characters, and not just from A New Hope like Duros (re-use of the upcoming Pilot head), Fly-Face, Garindan (both who can possibly share parts w/ Ariel using a bit of creativity) , Bo-Shek (a good re-tool to/from Bossk- who likely did visit the cantina at some point). Dr Mandible, Peli, Frog Lady, 9D9 (double dip release once on Mando card, and again on a 96er ROTJ card), and others from The Mandalorian can fill an alcove or 2. And right there 2 ideas for 2 separate carded 4-pks (Amazon, are you reading this as well?)

I'd buy at least one extra for customs if they released him. Maybe even a third to keep carded. Given how there were many missteps with the campaign that likely hurt its success, I don't think it would be unreasonable to ask Hasbro to give the fans a break on this one and give us another chance at that awesome figure. Before I saw him in figure form, he wasn't my most-wanted cantina figure, but now I absolutely must have him lol

We definitely need this figure, regardless of emily stating we should express that in the March Madness poll.IMG_6137.jpeg

While I'd love to have the figure, I'm not wasting a vote on Arleil, there are other figures I'd rather have far more than he. When that list gets whittled down then I'll consider it. As of right now he's probably 100th on my list, which means I'd have to get the first 75 made before he becomes a serious candidate.

People just need to be vocal about wanting to see him, though I'm sure voting in various polls would help get a unified message across to Hasbro. Since it's been sculpted, it wouldn't be a wasted vote for anyone that wants to see it released, it will just increase the chances of it getting out promptly, while the desire to see cantina aliens is at its highest. This is actually when voting might matter, compared to say a random EU character, that has virtually no chance of being released, that feels like more of a wasted vote.

My stance is we shouldn't have to "vote" for this guy all because Hasbro doesn't know how to run a campaign properly and instead wanted to play games. Maybe it's shortsighted on my part for feeling this way, and that's fine, but as far as I'm concerned Arleil should have been in the Greedo spot so they essentially screwed us out of Arleil over a character that would be just fine at retail as a 96er.

I'm quite done playing this game of theirs TBH.

There are no lies in that post.

I don't necessarily feel "screwed out" of a character as much as disappointed that Hasbro always seems to find a way to add a negative to anything positive. I realize "fans" are super whiny and negative already, but Hasbro should have had a big W with the cantina and instead it feels kinda like one of those meaningless games at the end of a losing season. Yeah, it's a win, but we wish it was so much more.

Greedo had no business in a dream project. Nothing more to say about that. As far as Arleil goes, I imagine he'll be higher in polls, but a post like Emily's there, which I'm sure was meant to be encouraging, really is just a thumb in the eye. I'm pretty sure I'm NOT voting for a guy that Hasbro has already tooled, at least to where we saw a figure. I mean... really?

I wouldn't be surprised if they plan to release him anyway, but a vote confirming fan favorite status would likely coincide with them saying that they're meeting demand based on overwhelming fan interest. Sure, that's more of a PR stunt, but I don't see it as a big deal. A vote for Arleil is just a vote for something in the realm of possibility, especially when compared to some obscure EU content they probably won't even consider.

Yeah, I suppose you're right about that. I might as well just give up and totally forget about anything EU at this point, TBS time in the Sun for that I guess. It just really bugs me to see them still playing this game or being flat out ignorant/clueless with some of their decisions.

I understand the frustration with wasting a vote on a character that was already tooled and sculpted, and especially considering that he was a new character and higher up on the tier unlock list. But Hasbro has a past record of not guaranteeing us certain figures. We thought the 2nd Utai, which was also tooled and sculpted, was coming, yet here we are 15 years later. In that sense, I still think it is important to vote for ANY figure you want that is never explicitly guaranteed unless pipelined or stated otherwise.

I agree that you should vote for the characters you want most. For me, I find it makes more sense to vote for the second or third tier characters I want, just to get them on Hasbro's radar. Arleil is definitely one to vote for in that sense. I just don't like to spend a vote on 'low hanging fruit'. If I'm going to vote for a wishlist item, it's going to be something outside of the main characters or figures that are already good enough. (I'm talking about Luke, Leia, Anakin, Sandtrooper, or figures like a fully articulated Tarkin or something. <doesn't need it)
