Very nice collection, thanks for sharing !!I have a few loose meccano / PBP / Trilogo variants I could provide pictures if that could be of interest to you ;)The pictures really ROCKs it gives an incredible dimension to the pics !!

Wow most impressive. I like how some of the non US figures got much better paint and detail work. The Gold 3Po and the Japanese leia are sweet. Those are very nice customs. I hope your daughters grow up loving this awesome collection and it becomes a family heirloom

Hi Matt,
"what a night, what a show" ;)
With a coffee in one hand and your collection in the other, I truly enjoyed scrolling through all the pictures and learned quite a lot about variations. There are just too many out there! Lol, I imagine you going through those thousands of figures you have, "this might be a LL figure.." Or wait, it.s another variation!
Anyway, it was nice to see them all together and compared. Thanks for all the effort and sharing!

OUTSTANDING! Great reference for variants, will be a regular visitor to this thread I think! Excellent work mate.

I hope so too. Thank you so much for that comment, and to my other fellow collectors who have made positive remarks, they really do mean a lot to me.

Love the photos. Great collection. Whenever I see the palitoy death star cardboard playset it still makes me wince to know my grandfather broke mine up. Apparently I was too old. It was mint too. Oh well......:)

Love the updates. Great to see this collection grow!

Thank you... and here's another!

This is quite a big update and includes all the 2nd wave of vehicles and playsets released for the Star Wars line in 1979, along with a good number of variants too.

I have also been fortunate enough to upgrade a few of my earlier items (thanks for the Sears Cantina set Jake!) and I have updated some of my entries with these. There are definitely many collectors bigger and better than myself, but I'm forging ahead happily with the production items and really enjoying trying to complete my MIB items. It's a work in progress... but progressing well!

Hope you take your time with the pics on page one and enjoy this celebration of vintage Star Wars. Leave a comment if you like it!

Hello! A little late joining in here, but I was curious if anyone here could identify the arms used in the Dagobah Training Luke custom that is waaaaay back on p1? I've seen some similar arms used for the Dagobah Luke, but nobody seems to know where they came from originally.

This looks *great*, and I'd love to know where those arms came from.

Thanks!

What a great post and a fabulous collection. I aspire to have a loose vinatge collection like this eventually. Those custom figures are great.

Hey Matt, just finished looking at the whole thing. :awesome: So good. The custom figures were a great addition. Thanks for creating such a great reference piece.

This Limelight is amazing... First of all congrats on the Collection it is gorgeous. Secondly I can see why you love loose variants, they are so interesting. Just looking at this page makes me want to see what I can come up with as a variant collection of my own  thanks for the inspiration!

wish i had a collection like that i love the Leia Bespins and Jedi Lukes still trying to find a blue saber one

Thank you for the kind comments.

It's been 3 months since my last update and I've managed to acquire a few nice new pieces and upgrade some existing ones (thank you Mr McBride for the Darth Vader TIE Fighter with 'Battle Scene' they don't come up everyday and I feel very fortunate to be able to add it to this limelight). Here's a sneak peek below but check out Page 1 to see the full limelight.

I'm going to add all the vehicles and playsets from the Empire Strikes Back line next, but for now I hope you enjoy taking a leisurely look at what's there and if you like it then do feel free to leave a comment!

Absolutely incredible collection, Bonsai! I can't image the time you spent putting this together. So many vintage pieces in one place, truly amazing.

Cannot believe how fantastic your collection is, this thread is like a mini rebelscum photo archive I have actually used as a reference point to figure out my variations in my collection. Thanks for sharing!

The Darth Vader Tie Fighter/Cardboard Scene is so freaking awesome, I have been looking for that box for ages. I think this one is a little under the radar in terms of really tough to find pieces.

Very nice sir!

Hi Bonsai, quick question for you mate. Was wondering what you (and others too I guess) thought of the below figure you displayed in your (excellent!) limelight. Is this a known variant or is it a factory error?
Thanks!
Christian

Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot (Low Helmet Emblems / Wide Helmet Stripe / Pale Face / Diff Chest Details) C9 1978 Hong Kong £35

Hi Christian, we're talking about the Luke X-Wing on the right of this pic...

I started a new thread on this in the forum, and hopefully will get a response there!

I have made a nice little update to Page 1, a sample below...
Picture404.jpg

Thanks to RS member Bobby Sharp who I acquired the 3 Pack Backdrops from. They made 4 of these backdrops and I have 3 of the 4 - if anyone can help supply or spots the 4th backdrop (with the Yavin Hangar Bay) then I'd love to add it to this limelight!

I have also upgraded a few other pieces, I even managed to find an unapplied sticker strip for the Action Display Stand. And a few tweaks to the price guide too to reflect recent sales (for example a Palitoy Land Speeder recently went for £412 - I haven't gone that high but I think my previous valuation at £120 was too low).

I hope you enjoy the Page 1 update, and do feel free to leave a comment!

Nice updates Matt. You really take some great photos. You also make me want to keep my droid factory.

It's very easy to see that you really enjoy your collection and I think that's great. You have a good eye for finding things in wonderful shape and keeping them that way. Checking out the updates is always fun:)

I've made an update - the first wave of EMPIRE STRIKES BACK vehicles and playsets added, just like 1980 again...

Also a few little upgrades throughout the rest, including the addition of the legendary 'Black Neck Lando' variant from Spain!

Hope you enjoy and as always feel free to message me or post a comment here.

Well my cup of coffee has now gone cold from being so engrossed in your thread:mad:;)

A fun, friendly and informative way of showing the variations of the figures in your collection Matt, absolutely love your limelight and really interesting as well, learnt some things I didn't know before. The 'vintage style customs' are amazing really well executed and don't look out of place at all.

Paul

Very impressive forum post. Really liked to see all the variants you have and how well maintained your collection is, not to mention all the documentation on everything. Truly you are a vintage collectors best friend. Thanks for preserving all this plastic goodness!

Thank you for the kind comments, I really appreciate them. I have made another update to the first page today, here's a peek below...

I wanted to share some of my new additions with my fellow collectors on RS and indeed anyone with a passion for vintage Star Wars. This includes a grail piece of the Empire Strikes Back Display Stand and also the vehicles and playsets from the 2nd wave of the Empire Strikes Back. I hope you enjoy looking at the pics and being reminded about what a great toy line vintage Star Wars was!

Very nice, as a paperwork freak I look seeing what leaflets and catalogues were packaged with each item.

A few questions...

Imperial Troop Transporter - Is the comic which came with the Palitoy the same as the Kenner one?

Rebel Armored Snowspeeder - Do you have a better photo of the battery guidance slip leaflet? I've never seen one before ?!?!
