There's no way they'd make Boba only as an exclusive so this is obviously a secondary version. Although they may do ROTJ or ESB and regular release as the other. Initial announcements are that they don't plan to stray too far off the core character path. Then again, that wouldn't be a big costume difference and so may not be what a convention exclusive is looking for. I'm in favor of it ending up as Mcquarrie or Animated kind of thing because that way it wouldn't be such a big of a must have for me to find and pick up.

As long as i can fina an ESB Boba Fett at retail, it won't matter to me which one is the SDCC exclusive!!!! A good friend of nine lives in San Diego, maybe I can talk him into going to pick this up for me, if it turns out to be something I really want!!!

I'll be on HTS come the week after. If I don't get it, I'll settle for the eventual regular release.

Def a possibility. Although we've seen that and McQuarrie as mailaways. So perhaps its Animated's turn again or the alternative movie version.

There's no way a character like Boba Fett is going to only be released as a convention exclusive. However Hasbro knows that Boba Fett fans will buy just about every version they put out, so this is the safest bet for the SDCC exclusive. Plus, Boba Fett has probably the highest cool-factor with non-Star Wars fans, than any other character. Slave Leia might be #2 in that category.

So if this rumor is true, then I think it's a great way to draw attention to the line and get some attention from collectors who normally wouldn't consider Star Wars toys.

As for me, I would buy the ESB or ROTJ Boba Fett (whichever one came out first) and not really pay too much attention to any other versions.

They should do him in classic Kenner colors. :)

That'd be cool, I hadn't thought of that one. But my guess is that Hasbro is going to want to show off their detail work and they'll release the "too colorful" prototype Boba Fett (which was the basis for the original POTF2 Boba Fett).

Great news! I have an inside guy so I'll be able to get my one to open, one to keep MIP. I'm personally hoping that it's ESB or ROTJ colors (as someone suggested earlier). That way the other can be retail. Finally a six inch Boba Fett to chill with my Figuarts and Monsterarts!

It's most likely a special variant and Boba Fett will be in series 2.

Please, go on. Let's hear your theory on a how a corporation is attemtpting to ruin your life.

Because we're obviously all entitled to have every new Star Wars product delivered to our doorstep for free and with no effort on our part whatsoever. That's what we deserve for giving Hasbro all of our hard-earned money over the last several years.

And of course, acting like a spoiled 5-year-old and lashing out at Hasbro over an unconfirmed internet rumor is the best way to get Hasbro to start paying attention to us collectors again. ;)

Sorry. I just forgot where I was. My bad. :)

Interesting news. I will have no way to get this since I'm not going to the SDCC, and definitely won't pay scalper/online prices for it either.

However, I completely agree that there's no way a 6" version of BF won't be available @ retail at some point after the SDCC. Maybe the exclusive is Boba Fett from ROTJ, and the regular version is BF from ESB; or, the exclusive could be any of a dozen other variations on the character, as has been said (concept drawings, etc.).

Just speculating, but my guess is it will be the same Boba that sees regular release, only it will come on an oversized vintage card. Either that, or it will simply be one of Fett's other color schemes.

You really need to learn to chill out when it comes to little tongue-in-cheek comments.

Not even remotely surprising, but still a shame.

Don't like con exclusives because I wouldn't be caught dead at one. Ah well, if it's anything worthwhile (McQuarrie, animated debut, Vintage Kenner, TVC-style prototype armor), I'll just play the eBay reasonable price waiting game like I always do. But if it's just ESB vs. ROTJ or just in different packaging, I won't bother.

It's funny how ROTJ and ESB Boba Fett get written off as slight variants when they're not. Actually, almost everything is different.

Disappointing IF TRUE. Remember, this is not confirmed.

If it is true though, I'll have to shell out the money for it. I'm not personally going to SDCC but I will get one come Hell or high water.

Super happy they are doing this right off the bat. I can just say to heck with even trying to be a completist on the line and just cherry pick the ones I like and leave the rest on the shelves. Saves me some money.

Cool news; not concerned - it could be any possible variant.....and know it'll hit retail so no worries. Just hope if they do the crappy removable helmet nonsense its actually to proper scale in this line. No more Giant helmets and small heads....looks terrible in 4" scale; would look insanely dumb in 6" scale

knowing this he will probably end up in series 2 so hopefully the exclusive will be a animated debut or McQuarrie

This is an Awesome news. More Boba hunting, lol. I appreciate show exclusives it brings thrills to the chase. I hope it's easy to get, like all previous Hasbro SDCC exclusive.

There's no way they'd leave Boba Fett out of the main series. He was in Epic Force. He won't just be an SDCC exclusive. Okay, so maybe there will be AN exclusive, but that doesn't mean the character will be exclusive. It'll probably be a dumb variant like "Invisible Boba Fett" or "For Some Reason A Jedi Spirit Boba Fett" or "Bermuda Shorts Leftover From A Ken Doll Boba Fett." Or it will be the same figure with exclusive overblown packaging.

I mean, if it's the first figure out and it's just a regular ESB or ROTJ Boba Fett and I can get it for $20 or less, I'll get it. But not if it's the typical variant like "Unpainted Boba Fett" or "McQuarrie Colors Boba Fett." In that case, I'd probably just wait.

No. He doesn't. It's just silly to leap to the assumption that anyone on this site is asking for anything for free. Nonsense. It's aparantly unreasonable for consumers to expect anything for their dollars.

Hasbro does dumb stuff, but they wouldnt do something THIS dumb.

Definitely a variant. I expect a "normal" one to be released en masse

Didn't the original report say something about more than 1 figure? What if it was Fett and a Han Solo in Carbonite?

I'm sure Fett will show up in the main line as well.

Wait, so you mean the prototype for the POTFII Boba Fett had a more colorful color palette?
If I got you right, could you post a picture?

I'm interested to see what they do - almost certainly though it will be a variation (animated/McQuarrie), and subsequently of no interest to me, or it'll be ESB/ROTJ and released in the main series anyway. Either way, no big deal. It certainly won't 'sink the line before it's even begun', or any other such naysaying, that's for sure.

Anyway, here's a though no-one seems to have considered, probably because it's so unlikely - but what if it's a CW Boba? After all, we already have OT and PT figures announced, so why not CW? :hmm:

I'm hoping it's either vintage colors or the all white proto version. Save the film versions for retail.

They could always release an ESB version as the exclusive then offer the same one at retail at a later date, the exclusive could have an "exclusive" sticker on the front and maybe an extra weapon.

I hope the exclusive is the white or prototype version. I really want an ESB version of Boba to hit the main market and not be an exclusive.
