Boba Fett (ROTJ) - #VC186

I'll be excited to get this figure. I have two on pre-order...and man, I'm needs em.

That also bugs me that they forgot the sensor bars on his chest armor. The early rendering promised perfection! Even the cropping and sharpness of the photo was better. Reminds of the Boba Fett Evolutions set from years back where they forgot his symbol on his armor. I guess that was worse. They eventually fixed it. Wonder if they'll fix this and re-release in a future case pack-in.Boba_compared.jpg

The Orange color was too dark, but to me, the updated yellow is too yellow. If i recall the original from 1980s, the yellow should be more maize than lemon yellow, oh well, just get me this fig, I don't care who..target or Amazon. Pulse will still be a while I believe.

Very odd that those sensor bars aren't on the final production piece. If I was to speculate, I'd say that an incorrect file of the digital sculpt was sent to the factories. I've worked in the VFX industry, and there was a couple times where an incorrect digital asset was 'published'(approved) and sent to animators, and is then caught further down the pipeline when shots are reviewed. It's possible that the 3D artist who created Fett had forgotten to add those bars at one point, and then corrected the omission in a later version of the file, but the wrong version became the published file which was sent to the factory. Just guessing, of course, but considering a majority of Hasbro's sculptors use 3D software now to make CG sculpts, I'd say this is a possibility.

Nothing new really, it's not like we will ever truly get a figure that's done100% right. Perhaps they'll fix it for the eventual ESB release.

I’be got one in hand, and I’m sorry if someone else has mentioned this already but, ... on top of the missing chest sensor bars, the chest vest that his armor and rocket pack attaches to is incorrectly the same color as his jumpsuit! It should be an off - white.
This seems like a bit of a glaring omission once it is in hand! They painted the tops of his gloves this color as well as the forearm gauntlet hoses off - white, but not the chest armor under vest which extends upon the neck covering.
I find this very odd considering far inferior past sculpts from long ago didn’t miss this detail.
Please don’t anyone label me a crybaby... I’m just A little disappointed because I thought this one was by the looks of it, going to be definitive!

Hopefully my preorders are fulfilled via BBTS this month and I’ll have another big ole box of TVC coming my way! The singles aren’t slated to be fulfilled until May, so I’ll have to wait for my extra Fett’s and Leia, but the full set is scheduled for this month so we’ll see. The Anakin/Padme/BD/Tie Pilot wave is already in my pile of loot, so that would be a nice shipment for this month.

An unfortunate oversight, but not a deal breaker for me. Looks like the digital render of the upcoming TBS6 version is the same. I was looking back at the past few 3.75" Fett figures we've gotten and there are a couple that also didn't have the vest painted, or the color of it was very close to the rest of his jumpsuit. But I swear if this figure doesn't have half-circles painted on his gloves I'M GOING TO THROW THAT DAMN THING INTO THE TRASH AND BURN MY ENTIRE FIGURE COLLECTION!!!!%@!!#@#$%#@#!@%#%@!!!#$%#%$#$!!!

Yeah while it's not a travesty it certainly is a big letdown to have what many feel should be the last definitive Fett figure for at least another two decades. lol Considering that VOTC Fett sculpt reigned for 17 years! Definitely a disappointment at the very least on an otherwise perfect attempt.

Well, Hasbro has done running changes before. Not many, but they have done them. While I don't see them altering the sculpt anytime soon, I could see them adding paint to the vest and applying a small tampo for the sensor bars.

They probably do it intentionally because it'll allow them to fleece the collectors further.

They know people will buy the first one (twice for some, because of the variant cards).

Hasbro TVC division are clowns...you have ONE job to do, and all you can manage is terrible repacks, mistake after mistake when releasing these "updated" and "newly tooled" figures...
They are literally downscaling Black Series 6" 3D models for 3.75" TVC production, and STILL cannot get the details right!?!?
Just poor quality control and lack of leadership and attention to detail by the TVC ppl if you ask me...

Ugh a guy on Facebook just pointed out the very strange fact that the sensor bars on his left chest armor is missing. That’s gonna bother the hell outta me.

It’s been on every Fett figure so far. And it was present on the “prototype”. Such an odd omission.

Oh man, I never even noticed that because everything else looks so good! It is pretty strange that they missed that. I'm sure it won't be too hard to fix, but man...just weird.

Wonder if they'll fix [the missing sensor bars] and re-release in a future case pack-in.
I'm not hopeful for that because aren't the sensor bars (at least on all other Fett figures) a feature of the actual sculpt? For the bars to be a sculpted feature on the final product, it would require Hasbro to create new tooling. They'd have to incur a somewhat significant expense for what they probably consider a rather insignificant detail.

Of course there's the counterargument of high sales volumes of this figure + the future profit potential from all of the alternate versions of Fett that they'll be able to sell from making the mold absolutely perfect. Since total profit potential on this figure is predictably high, that could justify an added tooling expense, but... It's probably accurate to say that few collectors are going to reject Holiday Special / ESB / Prototype Armor / Kenner Colors / or Jodo Kast variations of this mold just because the sensor bars are missing. But maybe if someone were to bring it to Patrick's attention? (🤪)

I get the feeling that they underestimated demand for this one as it appears to be the one that sold out the quickest across various sellers, makes me wonder if they made enough units to go around.

There is no way in hell they underestimated the demand for this figure, and if they did, then everyone involved should be replaced. They had to have underproduced it purposely.

Any even if that's so They will be making more. It's what they do now....over and over..and over... 🤖

I suppose, but if they did it right the first time they wouldn't have to fire up that mold after sitting 12 months in storage.

After inspecting my figure, there is a flat rectangle area exactly where the bars should be. It’s so small it’s hard to detect, but take a look:

It seems to me the bars were either filled in or some other issue arose around them in production that caused them to be removed. I’d love for Hasbro to comment on this - perhaps one of the sites can bring it up the next time they do a Q&A.

It's like the rocket firing jetpack being filled in all over again! Lol

is this the first ever ROTJ Boba Fett in TVC? I have a hard time keeping track of all the Boba Fetts in TVC

I can't believe they messed up that detail on Boba's armor. I can see it being fixed in the future, so collectors have to buy another Boba Fett.

I noticed on ebay some sellers are claiming they have the orange back ground on the figure, but i havent seen yet in hand....
