It's so interesting to me that both collectors of TVC and TBS6 think they get continuously screwed by Hasbro's choices relative to the other scale.

And they're both right.

TBS6 has devolved into nothing but reissues and those stupid holiday figures. Today's Archive reveals were a slap in the face to that collector base.

On the other hand, TVC collectors are still lacking the Bad Batch crew, the Rebels crew, Cal Kestis and other key Mandalorian figures like The Client, Cobb Vanth and some of the Boba variants. Those are all such no-brainer picks.

But what does it say about Hasbro that both halves of its collector community are equally (and justifiably) upset with them?
you are correct! but there are many people that did not have the opportunity to grab some of those archive releases. some are great (Dengar, Leia Booush) some are ok (Chewie and C-3po) and some are disturbing (Lando and Han solo TFA?) People need to understand, the Archive line, and TVC Repack waves are there for NEWER collectors. I long for the good old days when you could jump in at any point and still complete the set you wanted to.

I do think they were light on reveals because of this bring home the bounty campaign has already had a bunch of new reveals over the course of the campaign.

Makes you wonder what a Cantina would run you...
I think I am in on this, even at $229.
if you bought the components from a 3-d print shop, it would cost a fortune as well, think about it...
My Bespin Claw kit was like $80 alone....

right. in the next big item thread, someone said the cantina would prb be about 350-400. HAHAHAHAHAHAH never gonna happen for that price, if it was that price it would be crap.

this set is awesome tho, they really did a great job. I'm in for at least one. Thinking about all the figures that can interact with this set.

Leading up to the Throne Room reveal, Patrick stated that it was the "First entry into a new class of Pulse exclusives." I assume that means that if this one sells well, we'll be seeing more expansive display environments like this in the future. I sure hope so! Bring on the Cantina, Ewok Village, Star Destroyer Bridge, Emperor's Throne Room...
While that would be welcome, they need to work on some cost saving measures.

This is a good observation, a point the panel could have done a better job at driving home during the live stream.

I wonder if this uber-playset concept, were it to continue, would do so as a replacement for HasLab. The timeline of this set's release - 16 months from now - is extreme even by HasLab standards. But I get Hasbro's thinking on this, if it does act as a replacement for HasLab, given how poorly the TBS6 Rancor project turned out.

I'm in, it's glorious. An absolute home run with the details, you can make it OT or BOBF, and I NEVER thougy we would get fat Bib. I get the concerns with price, but EVERYTHING is expensive now.

As far as the pulse exclusive thing, as long as they are AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE, I don't care. Better than dealing with Walmart and target

The throne room is awesome. They said in the stream 4 times the size of the cantina which means 4 times the price. Plus it includes a "Deluxe" carded fat Bib Fortuna. Which makes it $230. I was hoping more like 150 but when I apply that 4 times logic, it makes sense. It gives me a whole year (and then some) to get that extra shelving unit I need for my figures. So it can have a nice spot there when I get it. The added accessories are great. Reminds me of the old Palisades Muppet line back in the day. The backstage playset had tons of accessories too. And a Rowlf the dog figure.

The 501st, I was kind of like, meh, when I saw it. Not too exciting. The card back looks really nice, so I will likely get it.
The 4 times logic doesn't really work. If it was a fair 1:1 it'd be $200 and include 3 more figures. This is $80 more because why not.

That's the thing, even with repacks / repaints - do these newer collectors really have many entry-level purchase options anymore? The 3.75 scale use to offer a variety of pricepoints, but with basic figures at $15, deluxe at $21-27, and now $230 playsets - I've got a bit of concern as to how many collectors (new or old) will stick around for hugely inflated prices alongside the current economic issues. Ever since I started discussing collecting, I've wanted to see it prosper for the highest amount of potential customers - included even the diminished number of kids that remain - this move jeopardizes that entirely.

Crap! That's crazy. I was hoping/thinking around $150.

Sigh. 😔 This is one of those "must have" sets I think. But, on the other hand I have the Sail Barge which is already a fantastic way to display my Jabba related figures. Decisions, decisions. If I didn't have the Sail Barge I would definitely be up for this. As it is, I'm on the fence.

Assuming since it's not a Haslab thing Pulse won't charge you for it until it is ready to ship next year. I guess it'd be prudent t to just pre-order it and wait to see how I feel about it later.

The palace set is incredible, but what's even more incredible is Hasbro is willing to make something this ambitious without doing it via Haslab. Their faith in 3.75" must be stronger than ever.

I'm still not certain if I'm going to continue collecting after recent events so I won't be preordering this, but it might be too hard to resist come next year.

I was glad to hear Patrick say that about new class of Exclusives because it might mean we could get some real cool items in the future if this Throne room succeeds. I'd like to see a proper Emperors Throne Room! I mean if they're willing to do such thing on a grand scale as this just about anything is possible, we just have to be willing to open our wallets to them.

The biggest issue though is their pre-order to arrival times, it's getting more and more tricky to make sure you use a CC that doesn't expire before then. At least for me who uses certain cards for rewards points etc.

Makes you wonder what a Cantina would run you...

IKR, I was thinking somewhere around $500 but seeing this at $230 makes me think it would be much higher.

As for this set it's is definitely an awesome looking set and I honestly can't believe they actually made it much less included fat bib instead of some trooper repack type. like a GG. And as much as I'd like to get it the $230 price tag plus shipping and the sheer size of it makes me very hesitant. Not to mention the overly long wait for everything these days. At $150 I wouldn't have even hesitated as there's a lot going on with it, but still would have had an issue of where to put it as I still don't have an area for the Tantive IV at 21". Plus it being 10" high means a specialized shelf. A lot to consider. But darn it's totally freaking fabulous looking!

Also makes me wonder if they even plan on doing a HasLab since they're offering this at such a high price, or what they could feasibly do for the $350-400 price point they seem to like. Based on the price of this I feel HasLabs area bout to get more costly.

Pretty sure we'll see Jabba again so they can capitalize on both camps of collectors because it will double for Jabba's and Boba's Throne Room! And by the time people actually get this is when they might even announce Jabba. lol

For $229, it should really come with not just Bib Fortuna, but also Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, and maybe a Gamorrean.

I will almost certainly still get it, but will probably use it for a Jabba display rather than a Bib/ Biba display. Hoping that the throne is removable?
It is, maybe means a newly tooled Jabba will pop up next year for a certain anniversary.

For $229 it should also come with the Black Series Haslab Rancor that failed to fund. ;)

looks as if it's there for those that like to light it properly! kudos to the design team for that.
That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure if it served some other purpose.

Regarding Fat Bib. If I do get the set, I'll probably sell it to offset the cost a bit. As cool as it is. I'd much rather use it to display Jabba or Bobba.

USA, CANADA AND UK, AND THE REST OF THE WORLD F**K IT? OUR MONEY IS NOT VALID FOR HASBRO??
They said several times they will work with online partners in Europe. Hasbro Germany will be online in a few months. Other countries to follow (pending the usual approvals)

I like the Throne Room a lot. It's definitely too pricey, but I'm leaning toward getting this. I'm glad it's not a Haslab, as that means they could re-release it the future. I hope its the same color as the Walmart Jabba room pieces from a couple years back so that we can build out a larger room.

In the vintage days, I didn't start collecting figures until summer of '82. Just before the ROTJ waves began, I had acquired the entire set of figures. The Jawa, R5-D4, and ANH Han were the hardest ones to find, but they were out there. Those days are long gone!

No one saw this coming. A delightful surprise. My thoughts:

New Pulse Exclusive Expression
Patrick positioned this as a new Pulse assortment. The fact that this exists is a huge vote of confidence in TVC and shows the brand's continued success and growth. And it's also a risk. These need to sell, if not sellout, if we want to see more of them in the future. The ball is in our court. It's also great to finally see Pulse being utilized to get stuff out to us that otherwise might not.

HasLab
This is the same price as the GI Joe Skystriker HasLab. Was it originally planned as a late 2021 HasLab? Possibly. Now we KNOW we're getting it, but the wait will be long. At least those that need to save up can because...

Price
In addition to being a Pulse exclusive which adds $$, Patrick stated this was roughly 4x the size of the Nevarro Cantina, and this doesn't have cardboard parts and a straight repack to cut corners. That costs $50+. This price, especially since it contains a newly tooled figure, makes sense to me.

Also keep in mind that the price may be accounting for future cost-of-business increases over the next 12-18 months. I see a lot of GTFO comments on social from just a quick 2-minute skim. A premium line comes with a cost.

This is also large and should include free shipping from Pulse. If so then $30 of that price might as well be for shipping.

Size
Some of us had stated in another thread that the $50 price point was becoming too restrictive for decent play sets with all the rising costs. This answers that.

Also, at 10.5" deep is just barely fits into an IKEA bookcase with glass doors. I wonder if that was deliberate. If so, bravo.

Timing
A LEGO Jabba's Palace for BOBF has already leaked. I wonder how much of this is a Lucasfilm request. Also, this fits right into a discussion from the BOBF Wanted thread about new media being a priority from now on.

Fat Bib
What a wonderful inclusion because otherwise we never get this figure. He looks awesome despite his 60 seconds of screen time. And I was in the camp saying chill out about the staff being excluded from the ROTJ version because it belongs with this one. Vindication.

Duel of the Fates
Set it up for ROTJ or BOBF? Save up and buy TWO?

Questions & Other Thoughts
Does this mean the $50+ playsets are done? We don't know. I could see one being announced later this year. Unless retail performance was lagging and this is Hasbro pivoting to something else.

I can't see Hasbro releasing this next summer without a couple tie-in figures. Who will we get? Black Krrsantan and 8-D8 at minimum is my guess. I'd like the two main mod kids to go with this as well. Also, existing Jabba's Palace figures just went up in value. Again.

It would be nice of Hasbro to put out a repainted Barge Jabba with his exclusive-Dais accessories in a brown paper bag next summer. Just saying. Not everyone has an extra lying around.

Are strictly OT-environments/vehicles put out to pasture? The emphasis on new media went from negligible last year to a full-on blitz this year between Clone Wars, Mando, and BOBF.

Will the color match the Trophy wall play set? It would have been nice if Emily that at on-hand to place next to it, or if a promo shot included it. Granted I won't be displaying them on the same shelf in my current setup.

TBS got all repacks again, though the CW S7 Maul pipeline was a highly requested figure. I wonder if they deliberately loaded archive into this stream so the spotlight was on the Palace Throne. They did try to tie some of the Archive announcement into their Fett theme.

Will we still get a 2022 TVC HasLab this fall? I'm not so sure now. If we do it would seem like a ship is in order since larger play sets can now fall into this new "expression."

Hasbro found a way to get this out. How about a BLURRG?

It's cool that they sized Jabba's throne playset to make it look right, but I just realized 20" wide means it won't fit in a Detolf I think. Oh well.

On another note, since Pulse did away with free shipping with minimum purchase, what's the shipping going to be on this for non-premium members?

I really hope at this price point the shipping is free.

This set is awesome. About $30 too much, but still awesome and is something I've wanted for decades. I'll just be putting my existing complete jabba's palace setup with the Walmart jabba/dias in here instead of tbobf stuff.

A exclusive pack in figure would have been nice, 8D8 would make sense as he could work in both eras.

I plan to set this up with using two of the jabba's palace sets on the sides in various layouts to help it look more complete.

I am definitely excited that this may be the start of a new series of playsets, I want a hoth base, ewok village, though I suspect a haslab would be needed to get a proper cantina or death star.

Slightly off topic, but this absolutely makes me hopeful we’ll be getting Indy in 1/18th again. I won’t say confident, but it seems like Hasbro is shifting their focus back to us if IPs warrant vehicles and playsets.

Were 6” people on stream really complaining about TVC? There goes the argument that they never trash our scale.

It comes with an exclusive crime boss Bib Fortuna. I believe they said it was carded.

Edit: Yeah, the intro promo video about the playset indicated Bib is carded.

Yes, especially when they revealed the Jabba's throne room playset. why isn't this in 6 inch scale...3.75 get everything, waste of time because 3.75 sucks. Fword 3.75... I am totally down for Indy in any scale!

I just can't anymore...

I wasn't even watching the live stream but saw a pic on social media and about jumped through the roof. An OT set brought to life in 3.75" scale!!!

The second picture I saw the price............................... I honestly don't care how any of you rationalize this cost, it's just ... beyond ... belief. $230 for a playset. I thought it was a HasLab at first and was surprised that they started one before the other was delivered. I started wondering about stretch goals.

This just breaks my heart. Maybe I can sell the dais, throne and Bib figure and hope it fits my current Jabba setup??

The set looks fantastic and feel like this is what I've been wanting in playsets for a while. As such I'll support it because: perfect world building, fits scenes for all 3 of the palace's owners and I want Hasbro to know that I want more awesome playsets along this style.

A year in advance gives me time to amass the funds. As for the price, "I don't like it, I don't agree with it, but I accept."
As such, we need the following figures:
8D8 with holographic cityscape
Gymorreans
BK (his name's spelling is very.....IKEA).

I think IF this was a Haslab, with a Jabba (with all the proper acessories), crumb, c-3p0 (vac metal) and an Oola and Leia prisoner...they would have had no issue funding it at $350
