So sorry that I’ve been gone so long! The PhD pursuit is postponed to later this year, so I got a bit of a break from research for a while. Absolutely want to get back to the carbon freeze diorama, but I had to do some thing with the recently acquired blockade runner playset, of which I bought two. I made a foamcore base for it, to improve the sturdiness, and some foamcore arches to attach to the columns. I covered those in a very slick posterboard to continue the plastic look. Then I used a silver tipped marker to color the surfaces of all of the buttons in the Corridor, as well as painting the red, blue and yellow lights at the appropriate places. I used a sharpie to color in the recessed boxes to be continuous with the black sticker and red lights, like the set piece. The rebel fleet troopers were all posed and hot glued in their stances, and the helmets were painted with mod podge for that shiny vacuformed plastic look. On the left side, I glued another floor down, and spray-painted two of the blast doors white so that I could have the Vader scene. I changed out captain Antilles’ head and glued Vader so that he could support him in the choke, and repainted the stormtroopers where they had discolored, as well as add mod podge to their helmets. I’m also working on the Leia scene which I’ll post soon! Hope you like the alterations!
