Forgot to add that I am grateful that EE even bothered to put this set out and it is great we finally got R2-A5 and BAR2-D2 in the line. I think those were the last 2 OT Astromechs I still really desired and wanted to see made.
Think I am just going to pick up a loose R2-A5 and BAR2-D2 on ebay...I have zero desire for the other droids. Also need to pick up the Disney park set with R2-Q2 and R4-M9 still.
My set shipped according to EE
For those who have the mass-release product in hand - are the number stamps moulded into the domes like on the photos we have seen so far?
Yeah... EE just responded to my inquiry. They say the numbers are due to them being early samples and they do not expect them to be on the final product.

I got mine yesterday. I opened it and took a look at the pink, green, and bartender droid. The paint on these is not great. The bartender's vertical stripe bled into his eye, for example. The seams on the dome don't match, like they were painted before they were assembled. The TVC R2 was a cool little droid for what it was, but the mechanic and aesthetic deficiencies are highlighted in the re-use of this mold. If you want the droids to stand on two feet, you either have to have the periscope sticking up, or a hole in their heads. I actually cut the periscope of one of them in half so it would stay closed with foot up or down. This mold is also smaller and the head slightly cone-shaped to fit the periscope mechanic. Generally, it would have been better for these to be on BAD molds, though the two bartenders are fine here because the bar fits perfectly.
No, from Sallah:
I was so caught up in what was wrong, that I forgot to mention the good. I agree that the paint jobs are the one redeeming feature of these guys.I just received and opened my set. I agree with MasterFett that this mold does not mix extremely well with other Astro molds, but putting that aside, here are my thoughts based on my particular set.
The paint jobs are beautiful on these droids. They're all unique and have nice, sharp details.
All in all, this is a fun, quality set for $60. But for $80, I'm a little underwhelmed.
