I've gone through many (but not all) of the threads here and although I found an R2-D2 collectors thread I can't find a specific thread about those of us who collect ALL astromech droids.

So let's kick things off now that we have our very own thread to show off anything to do with astromech droids. You can
your collections;
your customs;
tell everyone how many droids you have; and
what droids would you like to see made.
discuss the pro's and cons of BAD's or which is the best/definitive sculpts.

My own collection isn't very large at this stage with only about 20 figures, however I do have another 7 on the way and I'll post a pic soon.

I've also created an Astromech Droid checklist using MS Word and images from the RS photo gallery, in the hope of chronicling every astromech droid (except for the R1 series) Hasbro have made. It is 10mb in size and is pic heavy and can be downloded here:

At the moment R2-MK and the holiday R2-D2 have not been listed but will be shortly. However, if anyone has any additions or corrections let me know.

Good job, Dean!!!

By the way: as R1 series has only R1-G4 as a representative (for now), you can add it with little effort and give the boy a chance to excel ;)

Cheers!!! :D

PS: a brand new G8-R3 is coming home ($9.50 on eBay), so now R5-K6 is my primary (and only) target!

you may want to ask a Mod to move this over to "Hasbro:limelighting&display"
it would probably get more interest there.

also it they checklist gone already? get "file not found"

Ideally that woud be great but that won't be happening anytime soon. There are quite a number of repacks and there are more figures of R2-D2 than any other figure, some of which are down right terrible. So he will most likely be the last figure I will focus on after the more expensive, hard to find figures.

I guess that was part of the reason for my checklist so I know exactly what is available and what they look like.

Great thread!

I have an astromech reference page that has images of every astromech unit that appeared in the movies, in case you are interested: Star Wars Astromech Droids So I guess that makes me a collector of astromech images, as well as the figures.

If you take a look, you can discover such interesting tidbits as the fact that -3- different R1 units appeared in the movies!

Hi Pod, I've seen your page and have it saved in my favourites. Great job and I go to it regularly to see what new droids you've discovered. I've seen the two R1 units you mentioned. Have you thought about any digital images to create the colour schemes of some of these droids you've found?

Keep up the good work.

You do have an impressive collection yourself, Jenn! Looooooove the R2-D2/astromech section :)

Saludos desde Barcelona, España! :D

Thanks Jenn. I'll check it out tomorrow when I have a little more time. That is an awesome collection you've got. Do you have any photos to share? And do you have any customs?

Meet R2-MK :)

At last, R2-MK is home!!! And another is already on its way :)

thanks dean1700 and euroherbal for the complements. thank god for this thread because i am a little behind on my droids. i am slowly getting caught up. i should update my photos but haven't had a chance as of yet. i don't do customs. if you seen my artwork, you wouldn't want me doing customs:p.

Glad to see thread and so many comments. I started collecting astromechs and ewoks in 2003. It definitely an addiction. And since I have every astromech and ewok, I moved onto lego, galactic heroes, and so on. It so fun...I just moved and am slowly put up my collection. I will post pics when it is complete! Any other pics???

I'm starting to get the Astro droids together, have both EE packs reserved for me and I'm just trying to get any decent ones for re-paints. I'm glad there is a place to post about these as it sure can be a mine field sorting out what is what can't it?!

Welcome to the group, R !!! Maybe you could tell us how did you manage to get such a good price for the little b***rd... ;)

At the moment I have to be content with just getting the cheaper ones for now as I can't afford to spend $20-$30 per figure to get some of the harder to find figures. I'd be in the dog house with the missus if I did that, especially after spending $300 on a Stormtrooper lid.

Here's most of my astromechs but not pictured are the EE astromech packs 1 and 2 (I have both), the R5-X2 remote control droid, also I have R2-KT that I found a few years ago at a Marshalls.

*Only a few different R2's are pictured because I dont want to count them unless they are somewhat distinct, such as damaged R2, the comic pack r2 (different color scheme), the Resurgence of the Jedi R2, and the new more sharp looking one from TVC.
