New year, time for a new thread.

Post all the general 2015 news and finds here in this thread.

Any bargains lately?

Hi mate. New to the Forums but i have a question about an Legends in 3 dimensions Boba fett bust i have. Its the Empire strikes back one.. multi coloured jet pack... but the numbering is like nothing i can find. Instead of a number ie.. 1234/5000 it has xxx/5000 printed on it and the certificate. Any help would be soooo gratetful for any help!

I think that is one for the general forums rather than Australia only.

As an idea, and only due to the knowledgable guys out there, I'd maybe ask the questions in the 'fakes' section - you will get an answer pretty quickly there I'd say. (I'm not by any means suggesting its a fake btw - it's just where the answers will be)

And, I've not had any bargains this year!

Everything I've bought has felt like top price - although I did get a MR Yoda lightsaber from a fellow summer for a good price.

i offered a guy a price on ebay for a figure, he came back saying he would do it privately as a gift - when I factored in the saving he was making in ebay & PayPal fees, he was actually making more out of it! I haven't heard back from him after my last offer.

Not sure if Paypal changed it but "gifts" aren't covered if the item goes missing.

I'm of the same belief. I don't mind bypassing ebay, but won't do the transaction as a gift via paypal. I want my protection - also my credit card provides insurance for purchases - another reason to do it as a sale.

I don't mind paying the extra to cover the purchase :)

I always pay as goods/services for paypal if it's someone I do not know.

No coverage for items lost if it's "family/friends" which is the new wording for "gifts"

I don't mind paying the extra to cover the purchase :)

I always do this also.

me 3. Mad if you don't.

Bargains? Here in Oz.. ?
Retail employees stocking shelves in places like TRU, Kmart and Target, BigW pilfer the boxes for rarer items (ie, #18 Darth Plagueis Black Series) so they don't make the shelves, and sell them on the secondary market.. Yet to see one on a peg. Just as an example. Yes i have asked and requested reservations countless times.

Look what rocked up on my doorstep today from Sideshow Collectibles. :awesome:

This Mos Eisley Cantina Environment piece is HUGE!!!!

Too scared to tell everyone how much it cost, especially the shipping!

Did the Cantina in the movie even have windows looking out to the street? I don't remember that.

Think its more of an artistic touch more than anything else.

On the outside of the window there's actually a pic of the bar with wuher serving drinks and cantina patrons around the bar, etc.

Looks really cool as having that with what you would see if you were looking through the outside of the window I reckon.

I still have to dig out the cantina band, Hammerhead and my 12 inch Hasbro Walrus Man, Garnidian and my Sideshow Obi Wan and Luke.

Will look sweet once I have them all setup around it. B)

"There will be no bargain young Jedi!"

Finally picked up a Black Series Jabba the Hutt for $50.00 (included shipping) from eBay.

I have the vintage collection Jabba throne rail, bowl and pipe plus Salacious Crumb displayed with him which looks ok.

Crumb is a bit small but the railing, bowl and pipe aren't too bad.

I might dig out my old Saga Collection Jabba with railing, bowl and pipe and use it with my Black Series Jabba.

Didn't want to pay for the exclusive Jabba as I thought even this single version of Jabba at $50.00 was a tad too much price wise.

Cool figure though, I'm digging him. B)

Very nice, I still have my exclusive Jabba boxed up but might free him at some point because his impossible to display in a box lol

Looks awesome!

I like the bookshelf displaying Devestator, Blaster etc as well!

Im just finishing off my display cabinets now. Will show their progress shortly. Lots of fun stuff! And so happy to finally be displaying them rather than keeping them locked away in dark cabinets

No way do I have the room to display that. LOL!

Cheers mate. B)

I'm in the process of fixing up my Star Wars/Toy room so that's why Blaster, Ultra Magnus and Devastator are all standing on the DVD/Blu Ray/CD shelf. HeeHee! :awesome:

Will probably end up displaying my non Star Wars stuff in my toy room too such as all my re-issue G1 Transformers, my 4 Voltrons, all my M.A.S.K toys, Masters of the Universe figures, Masterpiece Transformers figures and various other figures I have such as my Neca Predator and Terminator figures, Battle of the Planets figures, Battlestar Galactica 12 inch figures, Guardians of the Galaxy figures, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figures and Mattel Ghostbusters figures.

Don't even get me started on all the Star Wars stuff - 4 inch figures, vehicles, playsets, Gentle Giant mini busts, Sideshow 12 inch figures, etc. o-o

Too many damn figures. LOL!

Make sure to post pics mate once you have all your collection setup in the cabinets.

I'm setting up a couple of more white multi shelves in my toy room at the moment so I can get everything off the floor. LOL!

Just got this bad boy today from Popcultcha.

Sideshow 1/6 scale Battle Droid and STAP. :awesome:

Man I love this thing!

Always wanted a 1/6 scale version after owning the Hasbro 4 inch version.

A little late to the party in tracking this one down but so glad to finally own it.

Next item on my hit list is the Bandi Perfect Model 1/6 scale C-3P0.

Anyone know where I can track one down for a decent price?

Mike?

Also got this awesome book delivered to me today.

Star Wars Costumes - The Original Trilogy.

Man this book is absolutely gorgeous!

So much detail of everyone's favourite OT character costumes.

Being a huge Leia fan I love how she is on the front cover too. :awesome:

I'd give this book a 10/10. No Star Wars fan should be without it.

Here are some pics I have taken from it to wet your appetite. LOL!

If anyone wants to see more pics let me know and I'll post them. :)

As promised... My cabinets in progress!

Sorry you have to turn your head to the side!

Your pics aren't coming up mate but I can still click on them. :p

Love those cabinets dude, how much did they cost if you don't mind me asking?

Really nice vintage collection too, love it. B)

I bought the 4 at once from this guy on ebay:

1 0M X 1 98M Glass Showcase Cabinet Exhibition Cabinet Black LED Light | eBay

Paid maybe $750 each, can't quite remember. Then shipping in addition.

He has other cabinets as well.

I also had the windows in the office and the glass on the cabinets covered in UV protective film - filters 99% UV

LED lights in the cabinets (no UV)

And replaced my flouro lights with LED replacement tubes (no UV)!!!

I need to get my other AFA MOCs as well, but they're well packed away in storage.

Hopefully the pics work this time!

Perfect!

Except for the pics that are sideways still (sore neck now!) LOL!

Just a couple of questions I want to ask you mate.

1. Is your Tazo album complete? I need the AT-AT silver Tazo and the Obi Wan vs Darth Vader silver Tazo to complete my set. Both are bloody expensive. :(

2. Do you have all the vintage figures in your collection? I'm missing about 14 of the POTF figures. All the bloody expensive ones too. Boo!

Again awesome collection you have there, bravo! B)

I have 3 full sets of the Tazos. That set I have displayed has all of them still in their plastic wrappers except the hologram ones - I had a contact inside the chip company that got those out for me! I think I've got 4 sets of the holos. Not the sort of thing I'd break up - would probably try to flog them on evil bay one day. Clearly have not been in a rush to date lol!

And yes, it is the full vintage set. Got the 93, plus yak face, vinyl jawa, blue snag & a second Stormie that had a bonus backpack! Nearly all of them I collected as a kid, topped up the ones I was missing about 20 yrs ago - mostly POTF

^
Boo.. so it was you and your friend that caused the maaaad issues with collecting the tazos!!???!!!
As far as memory serves, there were a few tazos that people only received by contacting the companies with dire complaints over the (non) availability of some of the numbers. Again if memory serves right there were 4 particular #'s that a lot of people never got.
The most obvious one being #150, then 112, 130, and #144.
What was funny, for me, is that I did in fact pull 2 of the #150's from the large chip bags, stoked at getting the first, shocked at finding a second. We had a local trader dealing in these tazos, (making a bomb) and I remember the day, I only had to get 144 for the complete set, so I went to see the trader, joined a large queue, and waited my turn, only to be refused with the words "no don't have any". Much to my delight, I told the trader I had a number 150 to trade (and just wanted a swap, no money involved), the trader nearly jumped me, saying he just found a #144 he could trade with. I small crowd of people were, literally, climbing over the top of each other to get to the trader and myself. I was then approached by a guy afterwards who just stated "nice work", meaning calling the trader's lie that he didn't have one.
To be honest I was delighted to then have a complete set, but was a bit disappointed I didn't push the trader for my benefit, seeing as though he sold it for $80 (highest bidder) right there in front of me. I should have done that to him.. snakes..

What a schmozzle though, the release of those silly tazos. 10 years later people are still trying to find the 1 or 2 they never got legitimately, for a reasonable price.
I also have the 3 model ships that were included with the set (x-wing, TIE fighter, shuttle) which are still in the original packaging and never put together - my son may want to play with them in years to come.

A friend on the inside eh'... that's what caused the problem with the line. Dirty work Sy.. But.....It's not what you know, I guess.

Edit: Not my place, but.. perhaps you can work out a deal with Mr. Gunner, I would suggest a fair price seeing as though you paid what? for them. You have 4 sets, you say, If you are to lose 1 or 2 from a set and sell the others from your now incomplete set, you'll still be waaaay ahead, still with 3 sets (1 to keep 2 to sell on later). You have the opportunity to make another fan and collector a very happy person, and have the chance to line your pocket a little, don't be so greedy, or don't expect help from others.
You give, and receive from others, everyday. My opinion.. and yes, I would.

Ok not Star Wars related but here are some recent NECA figures that I have added to my collection.

The Predator and 1968 Planet of the Apes figures are particularly impressive likeness wise.

The Aliens figures of Hudson and Hicks are great too but a bit older than the Predator and Apes figures so their facial likenesses aren't as good.

Awesome figures though. I wish the Hasbro 6 inch Black Series figures were as good as the NECA Predator and Apes figures.

And finally I picked up a masterpiece Megatron to go with my Masterpiece Optimus Prime and other Masterpiece Transformers that I have.

Been wanting Megatron for ages, he's pretty cool. B)

Megatron looks awesome. In great condition. Looks really good next to Optimus.

I've lost all of my old transformers. We moved house when I was around 17yo and I fear I left them at the old house somewhere. I have looked absolutely everywhere for them and, much to my disappointment, I can't find them.

I miss my Sound Wave the most.

I have alot of the reissued G1 Transformers from the 80's but these are actually the large more detailed figures that have been made over the last few years by Hasbro and Takara.

I have Soundwave and his cassettes, Starscream, Prowl and Sideswipe in this new scale too and they look awesome.

I'll post a pic of them.....
