anyone here happen to still remember the old early 1980s Wrangler figures that were mostly of the Missy female figure and there was at least one or two male cowboy figures.

Yes. I have the the 3.75 scale figures they were made by Ertl. The line consisted of Wrangler with a dog, Cody, Luke and Missy which you mentioned above. They also did a large scale figures with cloth clothes of Missy and the Wrangler.
