I think it's great that they are not paying attention to the bootleg market and are doing figures that were already done there - remember, not everyone wants to pay $50+ a figure for bootlegs. Steve can just take my money now.

Wonder if these will be styled minimally like the original ANH figures or with more detail, like they’ve been doing with the new media Retros. Personally, I hope it’s the former.

And it kicks the doors off the hinges regarding new versions of Greedo, Obi Wan w/ separate Saber, Hammerhead etc
That could be a clever way of circumventing a lot of the naysayers by redoing them with a twist.

As long as they stick with doing OT - and especially sets like the one just announced for ANH, I feel the same way. Save new media for TBS and TVC. You don't need it represented in every format.

Finally...Stormtrooper Han. I was hoping for Wedge, but hopefully if we get an Empire release. Not really keen on the Sand Trooper or another Walrus Man, but can't argue with getting the Rebel Trooper.

It's funny. Last night I was trying to think of which cantina patron made the most sense and Dr Evazan is what I came up with. Didn't consider Ponda as well with the "6 all-new" tease.

Great to see a confirmation of the new direction for Retro. I wouldn't be surprised if Ponda is sculpted with a screen accurate costume this time, and a proper name on the pill, to make the all-new rumor perfectly accurate as well. I'm happy they disregarded the bootleggers and are making legit licensed figures of so many fan favorites. This is what the majority of Retro fans have been asking for, so kudos to Steve / Hasbro.

Maybe Garindan got moved elsewhere. Also makes me a little more confident that Garindan will show up in TVC.

Interesting that Garindan was originally slated, I wonder if demand for him will now increase, since he was likely developed at some level. Might be an Arleil type situation, even though he was never shown off. Speaking of which, hopefully we start to see more fan polls surrounding which OT figures we'd like to see in Retro moving forward.

Had a feeling some kind of presentation change was coming after the questions Steve has been asking this past year.

My list had Garindan instead of Ponda Baba, everything else on point though.

Not sure if this was the case, with the decision for either Garidan or Dr Evazan, but it should make perfect sense to me and original collectors. Here is why. I’ve stated this before too. If you look at the original cantina playset, there are 3 characters that Kenner never made that interact with the playset perfectly. Wuher (behind the bar), Evazan (at the bar) and Garidan, in that little slot beside the door where they have a peg whole. As a kid, When you played with that Catina playset, most people probably imagined having those character.

If Hasbro wants to remain true to what Kenner may have done in POTF post 85, all they need to do is look at their existing playset and release characters missing from the play environment. In the Death Star playset, Han Stormtrooper was missing, Tarkin was missing. Now you can re-enact the Death Star scenes.

I was hoping for Beru & Owen but they are certainly getting back on track with that pipeline announcement.
Whilst I do like the boxes of 6 figures, I do wish they would offer army builders outside of the 6 pack sets

The boxes will help avoid Dr Evazan and Yavin Luke, for example, stockpiling while Sandtroopers and Rebel Fleet Troopers sell out.

That said, based on social comments the message has been sent that folks want to army build the troopers. Not only these but Stormtroopers, Jawas, etc. Hopefully Hasbro addresses that in some way down the road.

Confirming Walrus Man is the 1979 sculpt, Luke comes with his medal, Han comes with his helmet.

That makes it ostensibly 3 army builders in the set, if you keep Han's helmet on. If they had only done the Cantina Band Member instead of Evazan for 4 army builders! Oh well, I am still thrilled!
