4-lom - #67

To be 100% happy I'll need Zuckuss to go with him, but I don't think I'll wait to pick him up. For such an obscure character I doubt they'll make a ton of him or carry him forward.

Both of the new bounty hunter figures look fantastic. 4-LOM (he will always be Zuckess to me) looks absolutely SPOT-ON. Yeah definitely don't wait to pick up this one- a vintage ESB character is going to be hard to find. In fact never did I see Bossk or IG-88at retail, curiously boba was the easy-to-find of the hunters.

Bossk was everywhere in my area, back in the day...had to break down and get Fett online. Never did see IG88 (and still don't have him!). I'll definitely be getting both 4-LOM and Dengar if/when I see them. Although as someone else pointed out...it's hard to have 4-LOM without Zuckuss. Kinda wish they had just done a box set with both of them similar to the Solo/Greedo set. However...at this point I'm sure we'll see Zuckuss eventually given they've now produced all the other bounty hunters. Guess I'll have to track down an IG88 now...

They overdid it on his head and eyes. Like an idealised version. Bit too much paint kinda distracts from the original look.

Nobody mentioned the articulated elbows.....! I can see a lot of these being bought to upgrade threepio... Which is going to make him even harder to find.

The eyes are reported to be slightly transparent. That lets some light pass through them, making it look like the eyes are illuminated.

I also like the addition of the functional pistons at the elbows. Details like that really help to sell a figure like this one.

At least we have a better 3 inch version since that release. The figure looks really good, I can't wait to put him with the other bounty hunter figures.

I just hope the bicep swivels and elbows are worked into every protocol moving forward. We already are committed to a underscaled astromech with all the repaints, please let's have great articulated protocols.

I NEVER liked (even though l have several) the TAC 4-LOM, l always thought it was way off on so many ways, so here's hoping they reprint (since this one was no doubt sculpted digitally) this 6" one into the 3 3/4" scale, as to me it looks really close to perfection. They honestly just need to take another crack at IG-88 too since he was so hard to find and since his scale was so far off. It's a great figure, but needs some serious tweaking (will it ever happen? Probably not, but it'd be nice, and a must have)

Having grown up in the 90s-00, and TPM was my first new SW movie in theaters I had no idea until recent that some fans think 4-lom should be called Zuckuss and Han wore a blue jacket on Hoth all because of 30 year old toys. Interesting how much perception can influence belief.

But the lighting made Han's jacket look blue... And I want screen accurate figures, not prop.

Now the can has been opened again!

This is 4-LOM though, he's a Droid. Kenner just screwed up.

That's what I mean, so since Kenner switched the character names there are fans who actually prefer the names being flipped. Also doesn't Han's jacket look different depending on which version of the movie and in which stills were taken? I believe it's from the filter and not natural lighting captured by the camera. It's kinda like Vader's pink lightsaber, are there fans who prefer pink lightsaber blade for Vader because of lightning or effects shown on screen?

Actually the story I heard was that West End Games (who did the role playing game before they went bust) asked Lucasfilm if they could switch it, and they said yes. Zuckuss was his original name and it didn't matter because the movies didn't have to worry about inconsequential details, but it matters more when you're trying to create a coherent game. So since this guy clearly had a droid body they asked and got the approval. Then they created the backstory for him.

This sounds like the dumbest anecdotal fan story I've heard. We are supposed to take the word of some role playing company over Lucasfilm? Kenner has made plenty of coloration mistakes so I wouldn't have put it past them to mix characters. The problem with the debate is that for one it makes no sense when Lucas and others would have kept the droid naming convention and certainly wouldn't have misattributed a droid designation for the first and only time in SW to an obvious alien. First we need proof this ever was a mistake by Lucasfilm and not Kenner. Secondly, it's now inconsequential because the name has been 4-lom correctly for 30 years.

So odd considering 4-LOM is clearly a droid name...and this character is clearly a droid whereas the other (Zuckuss) is clearly not.

I know this has no bearing on the droid\not droid discussion, i remember hearing a looooong time ago, was that 4 Lom stood for 'For love of money' I take it that's just an urban myth?

I thought it was more late Summer/early fall 2018.

We already got waves scheduled through Spring.

Me either! This wave takes me back to the old days of TAC thru TVC. Getting excited for super articulated figures of the bounty hunters.

While I loved my time collecting 3.75 figures the 6 inch ones are so much more fun to pose around and enjoy.

Totally agree, I was a die hard 3.75 advocate and never thought I would shift scales, but these dudes are just too good and as you say, now the bounty hunters are in the mix, I'm sold completely now.

I’m a Micro Machines collector since way back but have been digging this scale recently. 4-Lom’s minihead was a super tough find for me and in the process of looking for it I got pretty stoked on his design... excited to see how they handle it & whether or not I’ll be able to snag this in the wild.

Hasbro had 4-Lom on display at TF, any new thoughts on this figure after seeing in person pictures of it?
