3.75" Professionally Made Kenner Style Customs & Repros Discussion

I already have Big Red with black boots. If it had been silver or maybe even gold, I might have gotten excited. But at $103, that's too steep just to own a pair of them.

A gold boot variation would have been cool. For me, the cost, with shipping is over $200AUD. I just can't justify that type of spend for a single figure at the moment.

I'm thinking something may be up with him. It's very odd that the carded Tonnika's haven't been added to the US sites yet even though they have been available for months. Also odd is that there haven't been any more Astromech's announced or released given they went to the expense of retooling it after the loss of the original molds. One would think with the mold in hand, they would be able to put out any number of variations quickly. Finally, he's been very quiet. He would normally come on here and start trouble every few months but I haven't seen anything here from him in a long time.

That is very odd indeed. I know there was a time where he seemed done with things, I think this was back when the Dagobah Luke was coming out. But then he announced the Jabba's dancers so I have no idea...

Im not surprised. He has consistently said for many years that he wants to get out of the hobby and end the issues and dramas. So for me, his absence is expected.

It seems like the the business is (somewhat) continuing? But seems is certainly less public facing now. Or maybe he isnt even involved now?

There was an update on the SS FB page a few days ago with an unpainted Gargan and the carded Tonnikas & R4-E1 do keep popping up on the UK website, albeit in small quantities.

I have a silver booted Tall Red Snag, and wouldn't mind collecting them all, but $126 for a different pair of shoes probably isn't for me.

My Big Red has black boots, which is slightly ironic because my high school's colors were red and black. The silver version does appeal to me, because I think it would display better next to the Blue Snag. But I don't want to pay the prices that I'm finding for Big Red / silver boot versions.

I saw a silver boot Big Red for $99 recently, but opted to go with three less pricey purchases instead, of things that I don't basically already own.

I know a gold boot version of Big Red was also done, but somehow that seems like an even more unrealistic color of boot than the silver. (Also, the boots were scuffed in a couple of places, so that was a non-starter.)

In fact, if I were an adult seeing a silver-booted Blue Snag for the first time, I would scoff at how it didn't fit at all into the 'believable' Used Universe of Star Wars, nor into the warm palette of colors chosen for Tatooine.

So the silver boot Big Red's appeal is specifically a Kenner nostalgia for me, moreso than a general Star Wars nostalgia.

FYI -

For the "collect them all" crowd, there are 2 versions of R2-Q5. <----- (EDITED: not R2-Q2)

That's wild. The one I have was purchased when SS found a very limited number of old stock and put them up in the store. They sold out very quickly, I remember I was actually at work when I made purchase.

Yet judging from these photos it's a match for the SLC version. I should check the letters inside the torso cylinder, see if it says SS or SLC.

I had posted these before as well but are buried now so figured I'd repost to bring them to light again.

EV-9D9 was released by both bootleggers

as was the Stormtroopers

Keep in mind when working to complete your loose sets.

I'm trying to remember if there were any others that were stamped by both bootleggers.

I didn't get any Stormtroopers by SL or SS, but I do have some by PCF (six of whom were later turned into Sandtroopers) ...

... and also some by Crazy Toys in both black and white. Crazy Toys modified the mold at the shoulders so there were little raised ridges that helped keep the arm in whatever position you left it.

I apparently didn't take any pics of their legs to see what their 'copyrights' might say.

So did I 😛
Ordered one of both Muftak and the Rebel Ground Crew as well as a crate.

Also just received the shipping notice from PCF for the three droids I ordered a few weeks back.

Exciting days ahead!

"Soooo many droids. Here’s the remainder of the planned Wave 2 and 3 Astromechs for Mark over at ProCustomFigures. Lots of fun stuff in this group. Some ANH, Clone Wars, Imperials, EU, Episode 1, Sequels and even Star Tours. Also the first factory monster-mech and an exclusive Holo-R2."

Looks like I'll be adding another four droids to my collection!

When it comes to these, I want them all - they are great. I have the 'non-factory' monster mech four-pack if you will, and it's awesome.

Speaking of droid I don't recall seeing this one lately. 1 left, it seems, for those who need him.

I got that one at the original price when the astromechs began selling out rapidly, but had to get the leg from the US and the droid from the UK, or vice versa.

I'd held off getting him earlier because I didn't recognize the deco.

When I realized he's from a deleted scene, and decided I'd like to have him, I had to pay double shipping to get him with the correct 3rd leg.

When my Hasbro Mos Eisley sets arrive, I might have to put the SS R2-G4 with the Next17 Khaa and take a pic like this.

Slightly later in that scene, a droid off in the distance is visible for just a few frames.

R2-G4 deleted scene SICO type droid.jpg

I don't recall if he's ever been named (probably) but he has two spindly arms, a solid torso with no legs, and a large football-shaped head.

I was inspired by that guy a few years ago and actually bought the Super7 Rocky 3 figure of SICO and modified it slightly so it could serve as a background Star Wars robot.

I made the annoying birthday hat magnetic so it could be removed and replaced easily.

It's not a perfect match for the droid in that shot, but just gives a tiny flavor of it.

And he stands shoulder-height to a 4" figure, so it's a great size to what's visible in the film.

I never saw that droid before, interesting.

I do have every SS droid now, carded and loose, except for R-3PO -- I only have him carded. Catching up was difficult to do at close to the original prices, but I was able to do so except for a few old carded ones.

Speaking of which, it seems like a good day for older drops.

What is that background from? Remind me of the transfers Letraset?

I'm not sure, but that's funny because I did see another backdrop recently on FB that used the floor of the Palitoy Death Star and the background was a similar Presto Magix transfer image of the Falcon in a hangar.

To my eye, the PCF droids are a touch larger in scale than their SS counter part....?

Muftak sure looks good. And man, the look on the Rebel Ground Crew's face....he means BUSINESS!
Glad you like them :) coming to the store on April 1st (coincidentally)

The background in the ToyWeaver picture was a piece he designed that came with one of the PCF sets around the time they were releasing all the X Wing Pilot figures.

The other image you saw on FB was one of mine...I made a "Retro Death Star" out of a science fair tri-fold display board, using repurposed 70's Death Star art from the Kenner and Palitoy Death Stars, as well as the aforementioned Presto Magix set:

(To keep it on topic there are a couple of SS Death Star R3s in there!)
