Production makes of the Landspeeders and X-Wings are neck and neck. We get a new one like every other year.

Given how quickly secondary market prices on retired sets go up I'm grateful that I can pick one of these up for my son, or as a birthday present for one of his friends, at a reasonable/retail price instead of hunting through Facebook marketplace and eBay for a bargain because LEGO hasn't thought to put out a re-release.

Point of trivia: the 7140 X-wing Fighter was the first LSW set re-released without any changes (except for the set's number - 7141) only three years later. Nne complained then because we were all Star Wars fans who were all still fresh-faced at the inclusion of LEGO on our collection shelves. We should strive to be more wide eyed.

Hunting for older renditions of sets is half of the fun. No one complained because the line and the sets were brand new. When you reproduce the same set every other year with little changes it gets annoying....and many AFOL's and collectors share that sentiment. Its like...Oh wow.....another X-Wing. Star Wars Lego designers creativity has been a disappointment over the years in terms of rehashing numerous sets, versus designing new ones.

That being said the rehashed sets are an iconic part in the Star Wars universe, and with the majority of Lego's sales being catered to children/general population it makes sense to keep making these sets. In terms of an AFOL and Star Wars fan there are a lot of other sets they could design and produce that would both cater to children, gen pop, and the AFOLs. It just gets old seeing the same sets...made over and over and over.
