Tonight I decided to finally finish up my Bandai 1/12 BB-8. This kit is so well designed and the panel detailing is incredible, however hidden. In order to bring out the intricate detailing, I used a wash by Citadel called Nuln Oil (pic 1). Then I added some soot effect (pic 2). The gloss on this figure is perfect for BB-8 since he's a shiny little thing. This figure seems so high end already. But I still need to touch up the silver areas and add the red and blue lighting.

After soot effect and comparison with Hasbro BB-8 which I just noticed does not accurate surface detailing due to the seams.

In addition I modified the Bandai 1/12 Captain Phasma gun by giving it a gold wash since it is silver off the rack. Also for comparison is the dull Hasbro Phasma gun. The key is to not add too much or else you loose the luster. I used Tamiya Titanium Gold watered down with X-20A Acrylic Thinner.

I visit this forum several times a week, but rarely post or comment & only when I feel I have something I need to say.

I have followed your posts and love your work (really enjoy your Bandai Kit threads), but your droid works have IMO set the standard for how these should look. Of your work R2-KT and R5-K6 are by far my favorite, but your R2-Q5 is really inspiring. The dome is just stunning...!
