    Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones - Tv Show

Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones, or simply A.K.A. Jessica Jones, is an upcoming American web television series developed for Netflix by Melissa Rosenberg, based on the Marvel Comics character Jessica Jones. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films of the franchise.

The series stars Krysten Ritter as Jones, a former superhero who opens her own detective agency. It is the second in a series of shows that will lead up to a Defenders crossover miniseries, and is produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, with Rosenberg serving as showrunner.
All episodes are set to premiere in 2015.

Following a tragic end to her brief superhero career, Jessica Jones tries to rebuild her life as a private eye, dealing with cases involving people with remarkable abilities in New York City.

So who's going to watch this series?

David Tennant Enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe as The Purple Man!

Already an acting icon to genre fans for his portrayal as the tenth incarnation of “Doctor Who,” David Tennant has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ upcoming Netflix series, “A.K.A. Jessica Jones.” Although the official press release refers to his character only as Kilgrave, comic book fans will likely better know the character as the Purple Man, a super villain gifted with the ability to force anyone to obey his commands.

“An enigmatic figure from Jessica’s past,” reads the official character description for the series, “Kilgrave’s reappearance will send shockwaves through the former super hero’s world.”

The Purple Man, whose full name is Zebediah Kilgrave (Killgrave with two L’s in the comics), made his first appearance in “Daredevil” #4 back in 1964. A Yugoslavian spy, Kilgrave was accidentally exposed to a chemical that turned his skin purple but that gave him the ability to force his will on others.

“I’m so honored and excited by the prospect of David inhabiting this multifaceted character,” says Melissa Rosenberg, Executive Producer and Showrunner. “He can deliver the most heart-wrenching moment to the driest of lines, and all points in between. He’ll make Kilgrave a truly original villain.”

“Anyone familiar with David’s work knows he brings an incredible level of dedication to any role he inhabits, a level we knew we would need from the man playing Kilgrave,” adds Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer/Marvel’s Head of Television. “While most know him for his roles as a hero, we can’t wait to unleash a whole new side of this talented actor.”

Set to star Krysten Ritter in the title role and Mike Colter as Luke Cage, “A.K.A. Jessica Jones” will premiere in 2015 with a 13-episode first season. Set after a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, the series follows Jones as she rebuilds her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City.

Nice. The "Purple" arc of Alias was by far one of the best comic book stories of that year. So awesome - hope they stay faithful to it.

I love that they are releasing the whole series at once so you could watch them all marathon style if you wanted. Since DD is coming in May I wonder when the next one (Probably AKA Jessica Jones) will drop? Following casting reports it looks like Iron Fist will be the 4th to drop since we haven't heard anything about who will be playing him.

Absolutely can't WAIT for this (and the other) Netflix series'. Gonna be a fantastic time binge watching these.

Of course I'll watch them all, but this one has seemed a strange choice of an uninspired character. I'd rather a Heroes for Hire show with Misty and others.

I have to admit I have no idea who Jessica Jones is, but I do know who hellcat is. im not a comic reader so to some degree I do find it sort of weird they go with a character im not familiar with and thus have to assume many others aren't familiar with, when there are so many better known characters. but I will certainly watch and hope its good.

It's because she was part of an acclaimed comic series called "Alias". It's because she's Brian Michael Bendis' baby. It's because New Avengers fans have known about her for years now, since she & Luke Cage became an item and Luke joined the New Avengers.

Comic fans know her. But guess what? They didn't know her back when Alias first hit stands. It doesn't matter if general audiences don't know her; they'll get to know her, and there will be more-established comic characters in the show (like Hellcat, and Luke) to help out.
