With the wild success of the C4 medallion promotion, I just wanted to post for our Euro collecting brethren who might feel left out without medallions of their own. Many folks at the C4 panels got to see the CE medallion sample sets we debuted in the display cases in the panel room.

We're pretty excited about the overall concept and hope they are well-received. The design of each was done by Mattias Rendahl borrowing on Jeff Correll's fine graphic work on the C4 set. Mattias had his own work cut out for him vectorizing SW logos from various raster photos and scans. And finding 12 different European SW logos was harder than you'd think! It took the collaborative effort of 7 people to get these created.

More information will become available as the event draws nearer, but Chuck over at Jeditemplearchives.com just did a nice write-up on them so have a look!

CE Medallions (http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/content/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=3176#coin)

Just as with C4, it's a free giveaway for Collecting Panels attendees so I hope you guys can make time in your schedules to come support the panels.

Hey, Chris http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Like I just reported on the SWCC-PT blog (http://swccportugal.blogspot.com/2007/06/ce-2007-medalhes-dos-painis-de.html) (sorry it's all in Portuguese), there's an incorrect STAR WARS description in the Portuguese medallion. The Saga was never called in Portugal "Guerra nas Estrelas" but, instead, it's always been known as "Guerra das Estrelas". (see the difference?)

"Guerra nas Estrelas" was the name given in *another* country which also speaks our native language, Portuguese from the American continent, known as Brazil, and whose linguistic differences people keep confusing between each other (pretty much like what happens between UK English and US English).

Just keeping the record straight... http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hi Jose,

Thanks for the information.

The logo came from this book. I was told it was from Portugal, but maybe it was actually just written in Portuguese (Brazilian). Even if we had the time to check it, we probably wouldn't have thought about the possibility of a problem with that particular logo. But that's how the medallion will look, so hopefully our Portuguese SW friends won't be too hard on us. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So these sets above are the whole complete sets for CE inlcuding the Holder?

I'm certainly interested in getting all of theseas i see MEGA Bucks for these in the future

So do i have to attend 12 different kinds of talks? Are these the ones they announced with the likes of Mark Dermul doing one ect or are these shows to be announced.

I'm confused as hell http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The sets in the photo were the CE sample sets that I requested to be created in time to show off at C4. The frames are not included in what is available at the convention. The only thing given out will be the medallions.

The distribution will be the same as it was for C4. There are a certain number of Collecting panels (I think it was 26 panels at C4). At random panels, one medallion will be handed out. Since CE is 3 days that means 4 medallions per day will be handed out.

You will have to be in the room and in a seat to obtain a medallion. The medallions were generally handed out very late into the panel and it's done during the panel, not before or after. The room is closed off after it begins so that people cannot come in late.

The medallion giveaway is to reward attendance at the Collecting panels. The purpose is not to create an item for people to walk up and get for free. That's for something like the Hasbro coin. You have to work hard to try to obtain all 12 medallions. But they are worth it! And who can argue with a convention exclusive that's so high quality and FREE?

I think there are less Collecting panels at CE and the event is shorter so overall it should be easier to get these than the C4 set. However, the demand will likely be much bigger than it was at C4 (if that's possible) so it will be interesting to see how things go.

Remember, these are ONLY distributed through the Collecting Panels, not at other panels or presentations. As the time draws closer the panels will be announced so stay tuned.

OK I unerstand, Cheers

Any idea how long panle shows go on for becuase if you are looking to get all 12 over 3 days could it seriously tal=ke a large chunk of your time up

ChrisGeorgoulias

Any idea how long panels shows go on for because if you are looking to get all 12 over 3 days could it seriously take a large chunk of your time up

Yes it will.

The medallions reward attendance at the Collector's panels. That's their purpose. Getting all 12 rewards dedicated attendance. Each panel is an hour long and because the medallions are distributed at unknown panels (never announced) you will have to go to them all. And sit through them all.

Now with 4 per day being given out and since there are a few less panels than at C4, your odds of one being handed out when you do show up are better. However, you still have to physically be in that room most of the time during the convention if you want to collect these. It's like anything else at a convention in that you have to decide what's most important for you and make time to do that. The entire program will be full of simultaneous activities.

That is the difference between this medallion promotion at the Collector's Panels and walking by the Hasbro booth for a free coin. Not that the Hasbro piece comes anywhere close in comparison. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Cheers!

I remember getting the cards at C3....it was fun hearing seeing all the info and then getting a card. It was definitley hard to get all 21 cards. I actually only got 6 or 7 cards. But I was more looking to buy stuff not knowing about the room sales and such.

This time I wont need to worry about buying as much and can spend the time learning more at the panels....

Befoer this blows up, Collect to Collect is an anti-scalping code. These collectors coins are not available at retail so they aren't scalpable. So while I applaud your effort to set Lee on the straight and narrow by correcting him for his statement which indicates he would aonly attend in order to secure an investment, using the C2C arguement is not valid in this case.

And now this point has been clarified I hope that neither of you feel the need to repsond further.

One thing i NEVER do is cash in on things that are meant to be Free.

There are pannels that i will want to go to but at an hour each, i would never be able to get ll the coins anyway

They were just something I grabbed at Michael's which is a craft store here in the states. Believe me, not much thought went into it. They're like $4 or something. Very basic, but worked pretty well. They were in the framing section of the store.

Here are some:

If you kocked someone over the head with it they would definitely be in pain. Especially if it was on edge.

One medallion weighs the same as 5 POTF coins, if that helps any. So basically our medallion set is as heavy as a full set of POTF coins. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sorry in advance but i don't understand how the medallions thing works...to have them i must just be at the collector panel or at each collector panel there will be a draft for some lucky collector? I think i won't colelct them all , but i'm italian and i'd like to have the italian one http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

ChrisGeorgoulias
06-20-2007, 07:13 AM
You will have to be in a seat in the room when the panel begins. There will be no announcement if a medallion is to be given away at that particular panel. A single medallion will be handed out during a panel and there is no schedule for handing out specific medallions.

This ensures that the crowds are consistent. The medallions are handed out during the panel, closer to the middle or the end of the panel. Once the doors to the room are closed and the seats are filled, no one will be admitted to the room.

The medallions are a promotion for getting people to come to the panels. The goal is to increase attendance, not to give away medallions. You have to work hard to get them. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you specifically want the Italian medallion (that rhymes!) then it will be sheer luck unless you attend every panel. You may have to trade or buy one from somebody.

ChrisGeorgoulias

Everyone must be in the room, in a seat, during the panel where the medallion is handed out. Unfortunately, that's the only way to keep the peace.
