http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I think this will be my new favourite PF! 1/4 scale scout would be awesome on its own but on a speeder bike!!

Wonder how pricey its going to be, hell I don't care I've got to have it.

VASith

I can't wait to order this. Even without the bike it would be amazing...but with the bike? Wow http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I do worry about the price though....$399???

VASith
05-24-2007, 03:06 PM
I'm also monitoring the SSFreaks board and I guess their inside person said that the bike itself is around 32" long. This might be more towards $450 I think. Will still be there Friday morning to buy it http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Grevious was $500 or more...This has got to be at least that...

blue_rogue

If the speeder bike is 32" I would guess this will be around $800.

VASith
05-24-2007, 03:30 PM
Yeah...I guess closer to $550 or so. I'm unemplyed right now so it's nice to be able to order these exclusives but I'mm really racking them up with the MR stuff and this in a couple of weeks. Good news is that it won't ship til next year hopefully.

Spiker
05-24-2007, 03:30 PM
Sounds quite silly but i don't like that release... I thought they keep the Premium Line more Premium and put out only maincharacters... Not to speak of that this thing eats a lot of room... a 1:6 version would have been perfect for the Endor Soldiers.

Where is 1:4 Chewbacca ? R2 and C-3PO ? Lando Bespin ?

That would have kept the series much more state of the art and special.

I_need_a_hero
05-24-2007, 03:31 PM
I wonder what it will be made of? I really would like to pick this one up. I guess the price on this will be the deciding point as I would like the 1/1 Bossk too. May have to choose between the 2 if the prices are too high. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

SirTristram
05-24-2007, 03:57 PM
It actually looks small to me...but the webcam is on a bad angle...Dusty said she thought it was 32" long.

See, I think that is reasonable in terms of a flex-pay breakdown. I do agree is Masterobiwan and hope that is has some weight to it! Boba didn't sit well with me for some reason.

How much is the Bronze Vader? $6K?

And the R2 and 3PO!? Why is no one talking about those?

Mace__Windu
05-24-2007, 10:30 PM
With a higher price tag, at least SS's servers won't blow up like the last two weeks for MR. Depends on what the exclusive is, probably go with an AD.

I_need_a_hero
05-25-2007, 08:13 AM
I would love to know what the exclusive is. I can't think of anything that would fit with this. Only thing I really can think of is them making the entire thing an exclusive to their site with a low edition run. Did anyone who went see or ask about the exclusive? I see with 12" Ben they showed 2 items that could be the exclusive.

This is like what Jabba is to 1:6 line in that it will be the crown jewel that wont be topped.

A Sideshow rep I spoke to made the comparison to Jabba as well. Knowing the potential of SSC, I hope they eventually do top Jabba and the Biker Scout; just so long as they give everyone a chance to catch thier breath and recover financially in between releases. Perhaps a "Super PF" every 2 - 2.5 years.
Imagine the PF Tauntaun?

Yeah, you told me. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Within the past week I've already purchased 4 of the 12" figures and am currently bidding on a fifth. I'm definitely getting this speeder too when it goes up for pre-order. I'm hooked!!

DARTHBORAT
06-01-2007, 01:01 AM
theropod, the idea of a PF Taun Taun would be something pretty unique. I never will try to anticipate SSC next move, as this PF came out of left field.

Like with Jabba in the 1:6 line, you don't have to be a fan of the PF line to appreciate this piece, as it's beyond spectacular.

I think a lot of non-SSC fans will buy this piece, as 5 years ago if someone said they would make an item like this, I would have laughed at the idea.

I love companies that think outside the box and give fans items they wouldn't expect to see.

Mister_Gosh
06-01-2007, 01:14 AM
just so long as they give everyone a chance to catch thier breath and recover financially in between releases.

At the panel, they talked about that very issue. The strategy they described was to basically fix on one "flagship" release per year, and use that to anchor the release schedule (Jabba was this "flagship" last year, and the Biker Scout is it this year).

K_D
06-01-2007, 03:59 AM

I thknk the idea of a PF Taun-Taun is great. I put that in a wishlist here last year. That would be massive and very, very cool! They could do Han and Luke!

I am definitley getting this via the Flex-Pay option. I think it is very reasonable payments for that plan. This is a piece that I cannot pass up. Maybe they will make a Commander Neyo on a Swoop bike from ROTS....I guess that would not sell as well though.

I would actually buy a Luke to go next to him...Give the Trooper something to SHOOT AT!!!

Thanks for the lists, I'm checking them all out since I've just started collecting Sideshow, so I need to find out who the good vendors are carrying the line other than just Sideshow direct. I'm going to be playing catch up with some of the earlier releases.

Here are some shots taken directly off of the screen during Sideshows C4 PowerPoint presentation about the new biker scout.

I hope they do a 12" scale version.
What's Sideshow's problem with doing any 12" Imperials?
All they do is import Medicom stuff that's not even the right scale, not super accurate, and 3 times the price.

3 Rebel Endor troopers released - who are they supposed to fight?
A Giant Biker scout that costs 13 times more than each of them?

I'll also be there for the pre-order on this one. After seeing this one in person at C4, I have to get it. With MR now on the way out and the decreasing chances of the Studio Scale X-Wing being released by them, this will fill my collecting needs for something large for a little while.

masterobiwan, I think the edition size will be around 700.

I feel that there is so much positive buzz about this piece from C4, G4 special and the amazing pix over at SSC, that they wont put this at some super low edition size.

I'll be ready to go at 1 PM est just incase I am wrong http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I hope they do a 12" scale version.
What's Sideshow's problem with doing any 12" Imperials?
All they do is import Medicom stuff that's not even the right scale, not super accurate, and 3 times the price.

I'd guess, based on my somewhat underwhelming experience with the Medicoms. that they're trying to work out how to make armor that looks better than the Hasbro 12" versions but which doesn't freaking fall apart the first time you bend the figure's elbow.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.

I just can't justify the price on this one after considering the shipping cost, duty, brokerage fees and 14% tax (even though the Canadian dollar is doing well right now). I will have to take my chances with ebay...

Still on the fence with this one. It's spectacular in person, but for the cash you can buy at least 11 of the hasbro 12" figs (now that's an army!)

I may wait for the secondary market to see if I can save a bit. The CIV spending and Maul coming this month (I was not expecting that at all)has me in stand down mode. Not to mention my desire for the MR Fett helmet (must have one).

No. They have had certificate errors lately, but it isn't a typical thing.

That said, if you triple-check you're actually at Sideshow's site (no typos), then you're probably okay, but don't take that to mean that it is safe to ignore certificate errors in general.

That's an excellent point. I had missed that part of the FAQ. Assuming you buy frequently from Sideshow, this does indeed imply that it would be better to spend points on lower-cost items (like 12" figures).

That's not uncommon for SSC, though in such cases, they usually base the ES on the first couple days' sales, but don't specify what that timeline is.

The Capital-I Inclusive Editions have a predermined (and announced) sales window, which is a subtle distinction.

The Premium Format 1:4 Scale Speeder Bike and Scout Trooper figure is akin to the stop motion maquettes used in the making of the famous chase sequence in Return of the Jedi. Every detail of the speeder bike and scout trooper has been accurately recreated in 1:4 scale, utilizing a mixture of materials to capture the proper look and feel. The bike is cast in heavy-weight polystone and white metal, and is mounted on a sturdy support rod. The body of the biker scout is cast in high-density foam, and incorporates several points of articulation so that you may adjust the pose and attitude of the trooper's head and arm. The trooper is costumed in a real fabric body glove, then finished with polystone and metal armor elements. The display base is cast in heavy-weight polystone, and finished on the base bottom with individual hand numbering. </font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font>

Yes. At the C4 panel they mentioned that the articulation was necessary in order to make it reasonable for everybody to get a Scout Trooper that sat on their specific bike *just* right. That way if something's off by a millimeter here or there, you don't get a scout who can't reach the pedals or something. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It's a fair question. They simply put the Bossk pre-orders up without any announcement, why didn't they do that here?

If I had to hazzard a guess, I'd say that they *really* don't have a handle on the demand on this one. On the one hand, at $800, it's (currently) the second most expensive SW item they've done, and the most expensive "general release" item. On the other hand, it's already clear that there's a real demand for it in spite of that.

If that's the case, and I'm wildly speculating here, maybe the PPO is where they'll gauge interest and what they'll base the ES off of, on the theory that a disproportionate number of people interested will have jumped through the PPO hoops and gotten qualified. Then they just need to set aside a small amount of extras for the stragglers.

Just a theory.

What does everyone think this will be numbered to? Can it be as low as 500? How does SS usually # Premium stuff?

Well, Greedo is only limited to 300 pieces and the Bond Thunderball PF is only 150 and some of the others are 75....so they can go pretty low!

I never post these types of comments, but I am so sick of people complaining about every damn thing SSC does, as yes it's $800, but does that mean SSC should give us extras, as I don't see MR doing it with their high end pieces.

Maybe there will be a surprise item with this or maybe not, but if you ordering any item for the little exclusive they throw in and not the main item, maybe you shouldn't buy it?

This is a gorgeous piece and all people want to do is tear it down without even seeing it, as the least the complainers can do is wait to see the final version before knocking down the Scout Trooper.

Well, the Maul 1:1 bust might be the closest thing to try base an educated guess on. It was $600, with an ES of 1000. I wouldn't be surprised if the ES on this item got that high, as the PF line has a bit of a loyal following.

Actually, they can't choose how low to go if they're taking an unlimited amount of preorders. It's been 40 minutes, and they could have sold over 1000 by now.

I also thought it was weird that the site was up and running during the PPO.

This is the same price that I paid for my MR Y-Wing and having seen this speeder in person at C-4 it is much larger. The price is completely reasonable, and to me, quite a bargain compared to what I've become accustomed to for large scale pieces like this.

They didn't think the volume would be that high, probably because of the relative cost fo the item.

They're not taking an unlimited amount of preorders....they stated TBA ....they already decided how large the ES is, but somtimes this is a tactic to ward off some of the flippers and speculaters who will clog the site and take some orders away from people who really want it...
It also is used to gage demand...and if it (demand) is really super huge, they can raise the ES without anyone outside the company being any wiser to the original set ES.
It will be low...they alreay stated that...I'll be under 1000. I say 750 or less. I was hoping for under 500.

Shadow, I completely agree, as this piece is extremely large and compares quite favorably with some of the high end MR products.

Everyone that I talked to who attended C4 said this thing is mind blowing. I also heard that pictures don't do it justice which is scary since the pictures are AMAZING!!!!

So if more than 1000 people preorder (anyone can preorder even if they have no intention of buying it), they're going to stop it?

Darth, I don't know if you're referring to me but I'm not knocking the Scout, I pre-ordered one. It's a stunning piece, easily the best SS has produced yet.

I was simply stating that for $800 it WOULD BE NICE if they threw in a case.

I know MR doesn't do this anymore for their items, but I was hoping SS would.

I have purchased every single SS 12" Star Wars figure to date as well as every single PF. And I bought them THROUGH SS, not an AD.

So I'm a SS fan. I just thought a case would be a nice extra.

yavin02
06-08-2007, 12:57 PM
I'm sure there will be quite a few wait list activations at this price. A lot can happen to people financially in that period of time.

I'm looking at the scout sitting on the bike, and I can't help but imagine how cool it would have been if they allowed him to come off and stand beside it, with articulated joints. Not as articulated as the 1:6 line, but enough to stand and pose a little.

I know that would be asking for a lot.

SirTristram
06-08-2007, 12:59 PM
I would just be too expensive and they have no history of cases anyway...
A case that size would cost hundreds of extra dollars and then they have to ship it and have it not break and then have replacements...Ugh...Buy one from a case maker...there are some good deals to be had out there!

MR absolutely still provides cases.

Since you had one made for Grievous, then you know how expensive it is, and how carefully a case even that large must be packed to ship. This PF would require an even larger case, so that's just not going to be folded into the $800 price tag.

I wouldn't cry if SSC wanted to start offering cases for the PFs, of course, but I'd expect to have to pay a tidy sum for them.

I would hope people would want something because they want it and not just because it is limited.

I ran into a ton of people at C4 who were all obsessed with value going up or if they got an autograph should it be put here or there and would it affect its worth in their collection... So either they are planning for future retirement or they are just looking to flip it.

For me I got tired of getting excited about limited stuff because all that mattered was it was limited and I found I didn't care much about the item. I've turned to just getting things because I just freakin' want it. Yes, I do like the unique and not-so commonly found items over a hasbro action figure any day, but for me with this whole Biker Scout thing... I adore Biker Scouts and Speeder Bikes. This was one truly bad-***** PF figure and probably one of the most impressive I have ever seen. I'm usually one to save money because cost is always an issue with me, but when I saw that in person, I was telling one of the reps to sign me up! Too bad the thing wasn't being pre-sold til today, hehe!

Anyway... All this talk of limited this and that.. I dunno.. If you want it you want it then get it. If it's limited then you better act quick! Obsessing over value and all that for me just gets old and I just want a great show piece to have at home.

I'll tell ya I have never thrown down that kind of money for a statue/figure/display piece, but this thing was thoroughly impressive. The undersuit detail was even there too. I was just blown away by the attention to detail made on this thing. The first time I saw that thing all propped up next to their service desk it looked like something from the film studios and didn't really think they could make something like that for a consumer.

It is a high-end price, but the workmanship shows and I think it'll be worth it.

And what's with all these people now wishing there was an Ewok included as part of the limited order? One day you all swear left and right you despise Ewoks and now you want one?! HAHAH! I would love an Ewok add-on, but It's okay if they don't. I have no shame in saying I loved the Ewoks growing up.

JimCorrigan, I wasn't referring to you, as some people are just so negative about this piece and that we aren't getting anything extra with it (I still think they might surprise us).

I am just shocked that people think SSC is ripping us off on this piece, as there are so many details in this piece besides the size, as this thing is HUGE. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

The reason I personally always order from SSC is that if there is a problem, they will take care of it ASAP, plus you can return the item and the points. A lot of retailers leave you to deal with problems on your own and on a piece like this, I expect a few problems.

I agree with Ryan_C above....this is a very nice piece...but its way to much $$ for me.
I collect items for displaying and not to make money or to profit from.

I have the POTF 12" Biker Scout and Speeder from Hasbro..and it displays just as nice for me...

Don't get me wrong SS is doing a great job on these and I do love the detail..if you have the money go for it. I will stick to the SS 12" line which is in my price range.

OR collectors like me that having been collecting these items for 30 years that like the idea that their collections have become truly special by the rarity of the items they contain. If I have anything special, I would be careful to protect it's value also, not because I have any intent of ever selling it, but rather I have no intent in trashing it either.

For instance I attended the poster collector's panel at C4 and was very interested in discovering the rarity of the original posters in my collection for my own interest, I'm not selling them and very few people know exactly what I have. But I personally take satisfaction in having such a rare collection for my own personal enjoyment.

I'm right there in agreement with you on this. I hate scalpers, and I have no fondness for those who are just using these as some kind of get rich quick scheme with no appreciation for the items themselves. Any disposable income I have usually gets funneled back into my collecting habit as part of my chosen personal lifestyle. I preordered one. Whether I end up keeping that preorder or not, I don't know. Not only do I have to figure out where to put it, but it's A LOT of money.
It was only about a year and a half ago that I was complaining about paying $50 for a Kotobukiya. Then I moved up to GG statues and I swore I'd never pay more for an item than what I paid for those ($100+). Then I won a PF Vader off Ebay for $300 and I swore I'd never pay more than that. Then, I just had to get the SS 12-inch Jabba, throne, and beast pack. That was it. I could never spend more than $400+ on a Star Wars item. Now I'm about to double that. I tell ya ... it just never ends.

Hi Everyone,

In regards to all of the email inquiries we received regarding the Sideshow Premium Format Biker Scout statue. Here is my official statement on it.

We will not have this item available for preorder. Sideshow is supposedly allocating all dealers only 1 piece of this item. At least that is what they told me and I would have to assume there is no favoritism and all dealers will only get one. Sideshow is saying due to the heavy allocations on this piece. So I guess they are not making as many as people thought. I respect their decision since it's their item and if they do allow us more than the 1 piece, we will put it up for preorder.

If anyone has any questions, let me know. My apologies that we were not able to provide this piece to any of our clients.

Thanks,
Mike

Every person that went to C4 all kept talking about this piece, as fans who don't collect SSC still wanted this piece.

I am still sticking with my # of 700 as the edition size, but regardless of the #, the fact that this sold out may have opened the door to such things as PF Luke on Taun Taun, Stormtrooper on Dewback and a Tusken Raider on Bantha. these certain dealers that are getting 1 or 2 in must be getting a heavy discount to give customers the lower prices they are getting. So the cost of producing each piece must be much lower than we think.... ?

I just can't afford to pay one lump sum like that though so the flex pay works well in my case. Still if some people are getting these for $675 or so makes me wonder what SS could sell them at. They probably figure they knew they'd have a huge following so they jacked up the price. Who knows... I am glad I got on board for this still. The only thing I was bummed about was that I couldn't use my $30 giftcard I got from CIV. Grrrr.... not allowed on pre-order items. What's the point? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I no longer see it at Fireside either. For some reason I got nervous and canceled my order from Fireside and stuck with Sideshow. I know Sideshow is dependable and has excellent customer service.

Meh, what's 100 more bucks when you're spending this much?

*cries*

JimCorrigan, every year they have used that convention to debut the best products they have to offer.

I am sure we will see 3 or 4 new 1:6 figures, another Dio and probably one jaw dropping item, as my money is on the Palpatine on the throne from ROTJ.

Yeah like the idea of the Luke on Tauntaun... OMG I'd buy that! Crap SSC Just let us all open a giant can of worms with this whole beastpack or figure/rider combo.

Among others already mentioned here's what I think would rule:

- Anakin on Swoop
- Obi-Wan on Boga
- Rancor & Gammorrean
- Admiral Ackbar and the "It's a Trap" mega playset

Okay maybe not the last one... lol!

Yeah I can see SSC making some cool stuff soon!

I would be all over a Nightsister riding a Rancor http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I wouldn't necessarily expect another big piece from them in the Star Wars line this year. At the C4 Panel, they talked about how they're taking the strategy of doing one big setpiece per year, with Jabba & Throne being last year's and the Bike being this year's.

Doesn't mean they aren't holding anything in reserve for SDCC of course, but it really sounds like this is the One Big Thing for the main lines (the 1:1 droids are coming at some point, of course, but they are sort of outside any of the main lines).

Speaking of which... Anyone have a guesstimate as to what the C-3P0 and R2 are maybe going to be priced at? If the carbonite is also on their list I'd love to know what that beauty will run.

Was a bit confused between displays and actual in proto pieces on display...

At C4 during Sideshow's panel discussion, they stated that they were aiming at a price point of under $6000 each for both R2 and C-3PO. They said the proto's on display were about 80% complete, and that one of the remaining details not shown yet was their display bases which is going to be a section of the deck plating from the Millennium Falcon.

They stated the pieces will have lights and sounds, but no movement.

I got into the Sideshow game recently and barely put my name on the list for this one...what are the odds that my wait list reservation will pull through? Sorry but like I said, I'm new to the whole Sideshow thing. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Cool! I figure because it's a super-expensive item there will be a lot of folks that pull out early.

Exactly. If I don't get my house refinanced in time, I'll be cancelling mine. My credit cards are maxed out.

Sideshow is breaking my bank. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif
