View Full Version : I WON A SIDESHOW STATUE!!! BALROG!!!

Well, I am having AMAZING LUCK this year!!! In December I won Sideshow 12" Regular Mace Windu and SDCC Sith Anakin from Sideshow themselves. In February I won a Hasbro Elite Corps Clone Trooper from Yakface.com, thru fun and luck.

I found out that I WON A SIDESHOW STATUE, again from Sideshow!!!!

Balrog - Flame of Udun!
I'm not a LOTR fan nearly as much as Star Wars, but my wife is a big LOTR fan, so I won her an awesome prize!!

Does anybody have one of these Balrog Flame of Udun pieces? Perhaps you could share a review and possibly pics to whet my wife's appetite! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here's the synopsis of the contest, straight from sideshow:

Thanks to all you experts for writing in about to explain the power of Sandman, who, according to SideshowDusty is the ‘coolest’ villain in Spider-Man 3. After reading through the comments (and seeing the movie!), she’s a little bit more clear on why Sandman is so powerful. She has now picked her favorite entries as winners! These Sandman fans have won a Balrog - Flame of Udun polystone statue to help defend themselves against the bad guy: Noel, for his very nice summary of Sandman’s powers, and for making her laugh while picturing Spidey breaking out the vacuum cleaner - AndyM, for being short, sweet & to the point - and Joseph Kabasan, for having the guts to quote Days of Our Lives, and for taking it to a philosophical level! Plus, she’s adding a consolation prize for Darkleaf, who made her groan aloud with his entry - he/she will be receiving an Electric Tiki ElectraWoman and DynaGirl bust set! These lucky winners will be contacted by email to claim their prizes. And remember, prizes can take up to six weeks to process and ship, and winners will be required to pay for shipping and any applicable sales or VAT/import taxes for the delivery.

Here was my entry:

“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives”

The above statement describes time as a stream of sand, never stopping. Have you ever felt the crunch of a time deadline? You wished you could stop time, maybe even just pause it for a few moments. This is what Spidey faces in Sandman, the unstoppable force of sand, always flowing. He wants to stop him, but cannot. Sandman always comes back for more, ready or not.

Sand is a major component of mortar, in case you didn’t know. Have you ever tried to break down a brick-and-mortar wall with your own strength? How easy was it? Want to step into Spidey’s shoes?? Have a friend throw a brick at your head. Ouch, I know. Now multiply that by 10000 and that is what Spidey feels with every hit from Sandman.

All the strength and durability of sand, that is what Sandman brings against Spider-Man. In addition to all that, like most Spidey villains, he’s a wacky nutcase.

Am I lucky, or what?? I entered all the Spidey 3 contests they had last week, hoping to win Venom stuff. Oddly, I win the Spidey 3 contest that gives out a LOTR prize.

My wife is SUPER happy.

Cool, I'll take pics when it gets here, they said it could be 6 to 8 weeks, but last time I won from them it took only 3 to 4 weeks.

I'll keep this thread updated!!

Here are pics straight from Sideshow, apparently the piece is about 11 inches tall.

YAHOO!! What luck!!

This piece was sculpted by a buddy of mine at Weta (company that provided design and fx work for LOTR), Ryk Fortuna in NZ. You won't find more accurate LOTR sculptures than teh SS/Weta pieces. This one is a really nice piece- great detail. Congrats on your win!

Thank you, ReverendStrone, that's cool to know.

Is he related to Bib Fortuna??? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Just kidding. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can't wait until it shows up, I just recently sent the confirmation e-mail back, now to just wait a few weeks for it to ship.

The detail DOES look amazing from the pics that Sideshow has. I seriously can't wait.
