What do you think of these auctions going so cheap??

21-Back Greedo

R2-D2 12 Back

R2 is a little banged up, but I would have taken it. The Greedo looks really mint. Got to be quick on the draw!!

Someone didn't do their homework before listing them, and it made someone really happy.

I sold a 12-back R2 a year or so ago for double that, and it was in much worse shape.

Damn, those were nice steals.

From a thread I posted in earlier:

Definitely quite a deal, but could everyone here please try to wait a few days, or a week, before posting a closed auction? Sadly there a *many* forum members who see threads like this and immediately e-mail the seller offering more money. Responsible sellers should of course ignore the e-mails, but posting auctions so soon has caused numerous problems here on RS.

This isn't directed at you personally, just something I wish everyone would keep in mind even though it's not a forum rule.

Excellent point Timothy. I do remember many stories about this, and it's good practice to follow your advice.

Cheers,

I have to disagree somewhat. Anyone who uses the term '21 Back' in their auction knows enough about what they are selling. If it were a piece whose value had changed dramatically I could buy the idea that they simply lost touch with it's value and listed it too low. But in this case nice pieces from the SW line have commanded much higher prices for a long long time. I can't buy that's what happened here.

Leif

Btw... FYI, even though this isn't necessarily a fraudulent situation it, all eBay auction related threads are supposed to be posted in the 'Watch Out' section.

Sorry about putting this post in the wrong place!

After the post I relized I left it a bit misleading. I was the one that got the Greedo in the auction, and couldn't make up my mind on whether or not to get the R2-D2 and by the time I did it was gone.
I too like you giys think its a bit scarry, but I am tired of hearing "I got a DT Luke for a buck on Ebay BIN" stories so I pulled the trigger on one. I figured if I got both it would be a scam, and if I got one it might be the reall deal and I will kick myself for not getting R2-D2. The seller did contact me today and said the Greedo shipped out so we will see what happens!! I let you guys know.

And also after I posted this I read the thread asking people not to put recently ended auctions on. Even though one was my own I still should have waited.

Well I hope it's the real deal for you. What worries me is that the seller knows what a '21 back' is. Plus he says '1979 Vintage Greedo'. How does anyone unfamiliar enough with the value of a genuine SW line figure, know to use such terminology or copyright dates on the figures (which btw isn't that easy to see when they're carded).

If it's genuine it should be an A or B card back I believe...

Please let us know when you get it.

EDIT: Wait a sec... that R2 is supposed to be a 12 back but has no white price area in the upper left corner. Didn't those white price squares exist into the 20 backs? I checked Kellermans' book and that seems to suggest the same. It could be a 20 back (20B) and be legit though right?

Can anyone confirm?

The 20A back is the last one with a place for a price sticker, so I don't think this guy really knows whats going on. So yes you are right it still could be a 20B. What I think happened is he got on ebay and did a shallow search on these. And what pops up more than anything these days....recards....so if he just looked at the first few he found with BIN between $30 and $100 dollars he might have just to a guess on a price not knowing any better. Or lets hope! I surely don't want to be out $70 bucks http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hey, you might be right. It's quite possible he got the jargon for his Greedo auction from other eBay auctions also, as well as the pricing.

I'm thinking that's more like what happened. In their online store they don't have anything along the lines of toys, it's mostly business/industrial and home/garden stuff. Likely got them somehow and is just looking to dump them for some reasonable $$.

Well, after a near mishap with the post office giving my package to the neighbor to hold form me while I was gone, I got the Greedo. Its freaking real and freaking awsome!! It ended up being and offerless 21B back. It has a samll crease in the lower right hand corner, a small ding in the bubble, and a couple of kenner crease on the back. All in all for $60 how can you go wrong?? I finally have a "I got a blue snag for 25 cents BIN" story to tell. WOO-HOO!! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif
