My company is sending me to the area in the next couple of weeks and I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of some good stores to check out. I am from Alaska now and have nothing within 500 miles of me so I would be excited to find anything. I am looking for any of the battlepacks (hunt for grievous/senate skirmish) or any new waves.
Thanks in advance.

Wow, you must have a fun time trying to hunt for figs up there.
My advice would be to find out exactly where you will be staying when you are in the area and then go on each of the individual stores websites (Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us and K-Mart)
and go to "store locator". You'll probably find a bunch of each store in the surrounding area, and just hit each one. You'll probably find alot of the same things at each store, but many times there will be a couple of different items available. Might at well check them all if you can while you're here.
...and don't forget those TRU's and K-Mart's, may times you'll find some older stuff still hanging around.
Good Luck.

When you find out exactly where you will be staying, let us know. then we can get a better gage of which stores you will be near. Are you staying in DC, MD or VA?

Thanks for the help.
I am going to be in Reston, VA staing at the Hyatt for a conference. I will have a rental car so I am willing to travel some to find some items. Right now, due to my job we are living in Sand Point, AK which is on an island on the Aleutian chain. Believe it or not there actually is a small store here that has some toys but when I looked they had a slave leia and skiff guard lando both on green cards. That was there star wars section.:)
Has anyone still been finding any of the battlepacks at target or tru? Those are really what I am most interested in trying to locate. And maybe a clone wars gunship.

Here's some advice - DC SUCKS! Call in sick, shoot yourself in the leg, hang yourself, do something to get out of the trip. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I hate it here http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I just checked where Sand Point actually is on the map. Pretty far out there.
What do you do that your job needs you out there?

You shouldn't have a problem finding a CW Gunship. They seem to be hanging around. We still have 5 or 6 here at our TRU. The battlepacks might be tougher to find. The Hunt for Grevious Battlepack hasn't been hanging around long. If TRU puts anymore out, I'll pick one up and hang onto it for you.
You just missed the Skrmish in the Senate. Target has been putting everything on clearance, so those things are long gone.
Might want to keep an eye on Modern Classifieds or Modern Trading. You'll see everything pop up in there eventally.

I'm a nurse practitioner here in Sand Point. My family moved here from Ohio. I think we may only be here for about another year, though. My wife and kids don't mind it here but it is hard not having any conveniences. I would like to do a toy run every now and then or see a movie. We also want our kids to have more opportunities than what are available here.
Hopefully, I can locate some of these things I am looking for since I only make it off the island about 3-4 times a year.
Oh, are there any good comic shops in the area??
Thanks, everyone, for all of your input.

I don't know of any comic shops, but someone in the vintage section posted info about a toy shop in Maryland. It wouldn't be too far from where you will be.
Here's the link. (http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=2050304&page=4&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#2050304)

There's a Target in Reston that should have some stuff. There are also 2 TRU's within decent driving distance (one in Fair Oaks shopping plaza in Fairfax (take Rt 7100 to Springfield), and another in Leesburg on Rt. 7 (take 7100 the other direction to Rt 7)

Also in Fair Oaks is a Target and Walmart. There's also Fair Oaks Mall near that same plaza, there's a KB Toys in there. And finally, there's a Kmart off Rt. 50 in Chantilly. Not sure on directions f/ Reston though.

Good luck!

For Comic Books just do a search online. Most comic related sites have a link to the Comic Shop Locator...just type in the Zip Code of where you'll be staying and they'll give you a list of nearby locations. Mapquest will help you get there! Tyson's in a PAIN IN THE ***** to get around so if you plan on going ANYWHERE you'll need Mapquest/goggle maps anyhow! While you are here...enjoy the WORST traffic in the Universe http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Thanks everyone for all of the ideas and help.
Sounds like there will be plenty of places to check out.
I was in the same area back in 2004 and I have to agree that it is a freakin' mess to drive around in. But I won't complain too much since it'll be nice to get back into civilization again for a few days.

I'm not sure when your leaving, but try and make a trip down to the Fredericksburg area. There is a new Super Target that just opened and a Walmart that is about a year and 3 months old. The TRU here is actually improving a bit. I have been impressed with some of the stuff they have been getting in. There is also another Target and Walmart in Central Park which was just re-designed and the latest wave they have out is Endor. Happy Hunting!

True, DC sucks, but Waldorf isn't so bad! Of course I wouldn't travel across the country to visit Waldorf though http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Well, my trip is now over and I must say that the DC road system is nuts. I really had a hard time trying to figure out directions and the traffic is insane. Sorry for those that live there but I am glad I don't.
I didn't score too awful much but seeing as I don't have a store within 500 miles it was fun just to find anything. Did manage to get a cody, some clone troopers, death star gunner, and sandtrooper. Also saw some other items but didn't pick them up. I am going back to see family in Ohio this Oct. so maybe that will be more fruitful (and easier to drive). Thanks to all those here that gave me some hints on some places to hit.
