Like with flying arrangements, I still don't have a clear idea, this far ahead, as to where I'll stay, but it'll be most certainly at a hotel that a) isn't too far from Earls Court and b) also isn't too far from the City's center.

Anything with 3*** / 4**** will do.

It's fully booked, the beds have fleas and the manager is worse than Basil Fawlty http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Besides, I live 60 miles north of London and it would take +2 hours to get to Earl's Court each day.

are there hotels that connect to the convention center? I dont know anything about Earls Court. does anyone have a link to help me get some info on it? What would be the best hotel to stay in? any idea on rates for non convention days vs convention days? For C2 and C3 there were blocks of hotels that had cheaper rates. i wonder if it will be the same for CE. since the pound is almost 2:1 over the dollar it will be a very expensive trip. i will need to save every chance i get. Any info would be great

Ditto. For someone like me (with family going too) do any of you Londoners think it's best to stay at a hotel nearer Earl's Court or to book something nearer the city's center and then take the tube there?

This, because I won't go to London just for the convention.

I don't remember the nameof it, I have to look, but I'd say, get a hotel in the city, might be more cost effective, but don't take my word on that one.

Earl's Court is west of the West End so is slightly outside of Central London and all the major attractions. The good news is that the area has loads of cheaper hotels than the West End, everything from Travel Inns and Ibis's to larger posher ones. Plus its on the edge of Zone 1 which means the West End (Embankment Tube/Charing Cross) is about 15-20 minutes away and easy to get to. Check out this link to see some hotels that are close to Earls Court:

Clicky Clicky (http://www.londonhotels.net/earls_courts_hotel.htm)

If you are in London for more than just the convention you could look more into the West End such as Belgravia, Chelsea or Soho, or go south of the River to Vauxhall or SOuthwark and to the East of the City in The Strand. All of these will give you quick access to central London either by Tube or Cab. But I reckon the best bet is to go for the area around Earl's Court as its a bit cheaper and still very easy access.

Thanks, ODB!

And when I said I liked 'cheaper', I wasn't meaning 'cheapo'. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Do international clients/guests have to join YHA, first? I couldn't find any details regarding this particular situation.

I don't think so. But the location has been moved to ExCel which is an hours Tube ride away so anyone looking at the Earl's Court area should search for hotels in London's docklands. (It's not as bad as it sounds honest!).

There will be a press release tonight about hotel accomodation at ExCel, so keep your peepers on http://euro.rebelscum.com

Would it be worth me getting a Hotel, despite living a few miles from Excel?

Reason I ask is that the parking at Excel can be pretty pricey, or is there speacial rates for people involved/helping out in the event?

Plus if there's any after Hours special party events going on, I dont want to be restricted by parking times etc http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I doubt parking would amount to 80 to 120 per day! I'd catch the train in because I doubt there's going to be preferential parking for organisers.

But if I were you I'd rent my front room out by the square foot and let CE attendees sleep in your house. Charge extra for air beds of course!

Hmmm. You got me thinking now. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've also got a Huge shed in the garden I that would sleep about 10 people, but sleeping bags would be a must. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It seems that parking is likely to be 10-20 a day http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, I can remember when it was free as they couldn't get people to go there. Robbing gits.

I've booked my hotel. Single room at the Premier Travel Inn which cost 288 for 3 nights. I'm staying Thursaday -Saturday as i don't need to stay the sunday night as i'll just go home after the show closes on the sunday.

Not too bad for 3 nights in London. The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk to the excel Arena which means i can get some extra time in bed and not have to get up as early as lot of people http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Of course i need to add money for food over the 3 days on top of that http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

You can get cheaper hotels like over at Kings Cross but it's a poorer area to stay and still yakes an hour on the underground to the excel

I have been able to chance my room at the Premier Lodge which backs to to the Excel from a single to a double at no extra cost.

So i anyone is strapped for cash and doesn't mind a Sofa Bed (Double) for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday night (must be out by Miday Sunday) they can share with me for a small ammount.

I know it cost me nothinf for the extra Sofa Bed but a bit of dosh for the hassle will soften my wallet too.

1. The room is 288 for the 3 nights. I would like the other erson to pay the 88 and i pay the 200 myself.

2. The person would need to be around the same age as me (19-20) years as i don't want to be stuck with some wierdos http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thought it may help someone whodoesn't want to pay 300 for themselves on the weekend
