looks like that seller is lurking here on RS. the figure has been relisted with an appropriate back that is punched. that same seller is also offering a potf han trenchcoat. as we all know that item is not quite common and the pic of back and front both have different background. very suspicious! either this person is tryin to scum the buyer or seriously needs to change the way of listing items. the description is also very, well let's say not detailed enough!

The Han Solo 12 bk she has is the same as the Luke Stormie, punched front pic of card & a un-punched pic of the back. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I never would have noticed that as normally I never look at sellers photos of the back of the cards.

I was suspicious of this seller as soon as her POTF Han Trench Coat entered my radar. None of the photos match up. Most sellers, if they're selling similar items at the same time, have similar backgrounds. The same table top, the same wall, the same carpet, whatever. Not the case here. I think the photos were snatched from other sources.

Her feedback is private, but she has received two positives. These are from auctions where she was the buyer. If you do a search for completed auctions where she was the bidder, and follow the feedback, you will see that the sellers have left her positives for payment. No positives for delivery of goods.

Avoid at all cost.

hi everyone, listen this seller is a huge fraud and scammer. my wife bids and buys alot of collectibles while iam at work and she won the 21 back boba fett she had up for auction last week. well i was leary and saw the write up you guys did here on her. i got a bit nervous so i emailed her and she got upset as she thought i was accussing her of stuff and said alot of your auctions look fake and i better get the figure and a tracking number when it ships. so she shipped it this past saturday and i received it today. i opened the box and guess what i got inside?????? a box of ministry cassette tapes http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/mad.gif. so was i pissed off when i saw that. we called our credit card company first and filed a reversal investigation on the charge. then i filed with paypal right away. but i can't file with ebay until 10 days are up. but i want to contact them to warn them of her. also we need to warn other bidders bidding on her stuf now. i contacted a few other buys from last week and they said they had not received their packages yet. man i tell you this is the last time we trust a zero feedback seller. lesson learned http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/mad.gif

please try to warn other on this matter as alot of good collectors will be burned from her or him or whoever this loser is. thanks

Very clever... now she can provide "proof of delivery" should anyone file a complaint against her.

I would appreciate it if you could provide the name and mailing address that she uses, even if you send it to me privately. Thanks.

I've been asking the seller a lot of questions regarding the han trench due to an interest in the figure. My questions have all been answered thus far, apart from the two requests for additional photos. Could be a bit slow on providing them, or could be a dodgy auction. I'll keep everyone posted.

BTW, that sandcrawler box looks to be in awesome condition(almost looks sealed). The seller states that it's not in excellent condition, interesting....

Has anyone warned the current high bidders on this persons auctions?

kyussa
07-10-2006, 07:58 PM
Unfortunately, it's hard to put out warnings to high bidders of dodgy sellers/auctions without definitive proof of wrongdoing. Granted, there are suspicious circumstances with many of laurie's auctions (and mrc_collectibles was scammed by him/her outright), seeming not quite right. I think all we can do is point high bidders to this thread and let them make up their own minds.

hi, her address is the following:

laurie bass
11755 gilmore st apt 213
north hollywood, ca 91606
phone (818)506-7127

i tried calling her home phone tonight and got an answering machine with her saying " hi this is laurie bass i can not come to the phone right now, please leave a message" It sounded legit to me. so now i am thinking that this may be identity theft of laurie bass?? she sounds sweet on the message. but when you get email responses its almost like its a guy emailing back. i dont know but paypal emailed me tonight and said that she replied to my filed claim and now i have to go file a police report in town and fax it to paypal with a cover sheet they provide within ten days. does this sound right and why do i have to do that? also has anyone gone through this before in the past?

whats weird is they spent $16.30 to ship it to me. you figure if they were scamming me they would send it cheaper?? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

this really gets me mad also and more and more scammers are getting away with it. i will file a report as they wanted and fax it to them right away. i also called my credit card and filed a reversal claim for the charge. they are sending me out some paper work to fill out and i need to send them all copies of the auction, paypal statement and her info. so i think i will be ok and get my money back. anyways if anyone can help by warning others. thanks

sorry but you are wrong on this one, she is a scammer or who ever is under that identity. trust me i know. my wife spent over $800 on the fett and i got a box of cassette tapes, so she or he or it is a scammer, liar and a cheat.

please make sure we let others know. this is also why i think i will be paying all my buys with a credit card, especially large amount ones. i think it is safer this way. take care http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Likely because she can provide "proof of delivery", since a package was technically delivered. Now you have to prove that what was in the package was not what was ordered.

Not if she insured it for $800 to make it appear like a legitimate sale. She can come back and say that you are trying to cheat her by claiming to have not received what she will claim to have sent.

hi, ya i hear you, but i did file a claim with my credit card company. i think they will side for me wont they? i mean i have all the proof. i made copies of everything and took a bunch of pics and printed them out. so i think i should be good. listen i am not letting them get away with this. if they want a fight than they got one. i am so sick of scammers getting away with dishonesty it drives me crazy sometimes. this one i will not let go!! she is over with .

07-10-2006, 09:40 PM
I would add pics of the package and what is inside, but i dont know how. i dont see where yo ucan add a pic to your post.

anyways is it worth leaving a negative feedback at all? i mean they have a private feedback, all her auctions are closed suddenly now after i emailed her a said she was caught and that everyone is involved and even the police tomorrow. she will probably give me one in return. i think i wont do it at this point. any pointers from anyone or helpful hints? thanks

LandoFrychickien

I think you are dead on about the identity theft assumption. And this person appears to be a very shrewd scammer indeed with the whole sending the package insured for 800.00 thing (if that's the case). I'm sure you will get "most" if not all of your money back. But it's a whacked country? who knows? It's also the wasted time and aggravation that your going through that really sucks. I feel for ya.
I will think twice about bidding on a 0 feedback auction after hearing all this.
Best of Luck to you, and keep us all posted on how it turns out.

there is no need to go to the police station i did not commit any fraud it was mistake on my part and soon and i see you put through the process of reversal of payment. which is fine..i packaged the product wrong and that is not fraud..it was a mistake..have you have not been rushing me to send this package i would of probaly not made this mistake,,i would of have had no problem of sending the correct package without all this.....and why would i get a 1000.00 insurance if i didn't think i had the right package...i have that proof and the tracking slip...i explained that i am new to this and not too familiar with all of this and no matter what i write it seems i will not be believed...and i was not cheating anyone....i have proof of the stuff i sent and have...all of it..here

nice try i told them. youtried to scam me and did not get away with it and you will not get away with it. i talked to ebay last night on the phone and i also filed a complaint with them as well. they will be investigated for sure. her paypal is frozen now cause i filed with them as well. we shall see i guess

Anyone that bids on any of her auctions is just asking for trouble. The sandcrawler had an ESB remote with it. Very interesting considering the box is SW. None of the backround pictures match. Unless this seller can provide a picture of any of the high end products with a picture and today's paper forget about it.

This scam is very similar to the one pulled by "davistulsa" on eBay a few months back (there is a thread here discussing that scam). Same excuses about shipping the wrong package, sending junk after a Paypal claim has been filed to obtain proof of delivery, inconsistent stolen pics, etc. Hope this pathetic scammer gets what they deserve.

I wonder if she's getting the pictures with mismatching backgrounds from previous Ebay sales or online somewhere.

Maybe we could try doing a Yahoo or Google picture search and see if it happens to come up?

If the site has no affiliation with Laurie, then its proven to be a scam.

I'm pretty certain the image of the han trench from the auction is this one:

http://images.google.com.au/images?q=han+trench+coat&ndsp=18&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&filter=0

It's the fifth image along from the top left of the page after you do a google image search, but it looks like it's been moved from the page that contains it. The price tag looks to be in the same spot and the lighting, composition etc seems to be dead on. I'll try and find the bigger picture within the page if it has indeed been moved.

Hey MRC...
Looks like your in good shape...She admitted through email she did not send you the right item...Thats a huge plus which will get your money back...About a year ago I bought a MOC stormie from a scammer and guess what I recieved in the mail...A very nice CEREAL BOWL!!! instead....Since i got a package in the mail from them I lost through paypal to get my money back. And yes I tried sending pictures of the cereal bowl and the box it came in but because I recieved a something, and the seller said he shipped the right item, paypal could do anything about..I paid 90.00 for someones old used cereal bowl...Thanks Paypal!!!
Good luck to you Matt....It strings getting caught up in a scam....I know it.... http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/mad.gif.....Steve

Well it looks like it may work out here. i have received a few emails that she will be refunding my money back. she has advised paypal and is transfering the refund money into her paypal account. so i guess it may take a few days for the transfer to go through. i have until july 20th to fax the police report to paypal if need be. lets keep our fingers crossed and hope she makes this right with me. thanks for all the support guys and watch out for those scammers. thank god for RS, because my wife had won the auction before i could read the postings you started on her and after i starting reading i realized what happened, so thanks again to all and hopefully in will work out. the sad thing is i really was looking forward to that 21 back boba fett, it was to replace the one i have now as it looked in nicer condition, but oh well. take care all http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey guys, well i thought i would let you know that i finally think i got this worked out. paypal is taking so long to work this out its not even funny, so the seller is mailing me a bank check for the refund. i will of course hold in account for atleast a week to clear before i move forward. but its weird the seller still says they sent the wrong item and that they are new to ebay and they are very inexpirienced at this stuff. i have talked on the phone with them multiple times now to clear this up and paypal is just giving them the run around. they even told paypal several times that they want to refund the money and that they are authorizing it and they still say they are waiting for me to fax the police report. i have gone already to my police station and filed and report, but have not faxed it yet. they seem very willing to make this right with me now?? they also told me that they sold their potf han trench and luke stormtrooper to a collectible shop in L.A calif. for $50.00 a piece. i told them they lost alot of money on them. i dont know how true it is, but oh well. so they are express overnighting my bank check and should be here on thursday, so we shall see. anyways i will let you know what the outcome is. later

This is probably a flawed idea, but I feel like we should create dummy Ebay accounts and bid exremely high on these scammer auctions, to assure a win, just so they get frustrated when nobody ever pays. If done enough, maybe scammers will eventually give up and quit on Ebay. Also, the unsuspecting or new bidders on Ebay might not lose their hard earned $$. Just my 2 cents.

Hey guys, well i would not say i made friends, we just resolved out situation and i am glad we did. the guy i was in contact with says he had the figures, but sold a bunch to a local toy collector store. i guess he did not get nearly what they were worth, but they do not seem knowledgable in the area of star wars figures and their values. i dont want to read into it too much as i am happy to have my money back. i think down the road they may try to sell again, but they know their rep is ruined after all this. they do have all positive feedback so far and i guess a few of the figures did sell and the buyers got them. i know some of the pics were messed up on the auctions, but they said they used a cell phone camera and got some of the pics messed up on a few auctions due to them being new to ebay and not knowing much of listing auctions. so i guess i will leave it at that. i did not feel comfortable with what happened to me, just thankful i received my refund for the problem that occured. hope this helped to explain a little. take care
