View Full Version : a little bit of shadeyness on Ebay.

I don't usually catch things like this, and I just stumbled across this one. The first two auctions are from the same seller.

Auction 6065026031 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50271&item=6065026031) ended on the 10th.

Auction 6065202659 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Star-Wars-Hoth-Stormtrooper-UNPUNCHED-MOC_W0QQitemZ6065202659QQihZ009QQcategoryZ50271QQr dZ1QQcmdZViewItem) ended on the 13th and is identical as the first one.

Auction 120000514262 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=002&item=120000514262&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1#ebayphotohosting) is currently running and is from the winner of the first auction.

What the heck is going on here? It's too shadey to get my bid. I'm always looking for an offerless ESB Snowtrooper and they have to go and screw it up.

the original buyers pics though are on a different backdrop and he got a rating for buying it , what makes me laugh is he says its been in a smoke free home since the day he brought it, lol less than a week

Maybe the original seller just made a mistake and resubmitted the auction, who knows

The current owner could very well not know what the first seller did. Or it could be the same guy with multiple accounts giving himself feedback on this one auction. Who knows, maybe I'm just paranoid. I emailed the current owner yesterday but no response yet.

That's is funny about the smoke free home http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'll go out on a limb and suggest they are all the same dealer. All three auctions state a payment window of three days. The first seller states 72 hours, the second 3 days. Both the same period of time, which isn't so unusual in itself, just coincidental and perhaps a point of difference to throw people off the trail.

All three also state they will relist and leave apppropriate feedback for non paying bidders. Again, coincidental, but they are very similar. These points would be enough for me to stay away from the auction, unless I was desperate for the item.

wow... i almost bid on this Auction 6065026031 http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/blush.gif
saw that he had 2 with the same pic. so i e-mailed him, and he said he had 2 in identical condition.
i stayed away from the original auction just because he wasn't using actual pics. looks like a fine piece but too shady for me.

Let us know when you do! The first two auctions do seem kind of shady with the same pictures used. Maybe he had two similar ones and decided to upload pictures of the first one?

I've seen it done before and never had a problem with receiving the item.

We all seem a bit paranoid, but we can't just assume or jump to conclusions.

Safe bidding!

You're right, I don't like to jump to conclusions. I still havn't heard anything from the seller.
