Aug 10th 2006 - $116.33
Sept 10th 2006 - $116.33
Oct 10th 2006 - $116.34

You don't have to order it with the Flexpay plan. I posted the links for both ordering options.

Put me in the small, empty boat of folks not interested in the exclusive editions (mainly because I missed out on previous versions). Am I just missing it, or is there no non-exclusive edition available on Sideshow's site?

When the exclusive sells out, the non-exclusive will go up.

I gave in to this one. Too hard for me to resist even when I've resisted all of the other ones in this line.

This is one of the better exclusive items.

I can take the exclusives or leave them. I have been able to get some great deals on NON exclusive versions on Han & Obi Wan, you can get them cheaper through other retailers.

When you can save $50-$100, an exclusive isn't so important any more. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That's exactly why Im not buying into them. I just bought a non exclusive Obi for $250 shipped, I'm not paying the outrageous prices for the exclusive. Same will go for Vader when I get him.

Don't get me wrong, the exclusives are really cool, but I dont see the value in them for my own collection. I feel they detract a bit, by having an extra "something" sitting next to the statue.

Well I got mine. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif I actually like all the exclusive pieces they have offered so far and will definately continue to spend a little extra to get them as I am very happy with this line. I guess after trying to collect the Attakus statues for awhile the prices on these do not seem bad to me. Also (just my opinion http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smirk.gif) the quality on these is far better than any of the other staue lines I have tried to collect. Sideshow has definately taken over my collection - the Darth Maul 1/1 bust is absolutely amazing!!!!

Well I broke down and ordered the exclusive from SSC. I was going to wait for it to come out and then get it from the secondary market at a cheaper rate like I did with the ANH Luke, and plan to do with Han, Obi Wan, Leia, and Vader. They all come with exclusives that I am not head over heels for. This Dagobah Luke's exclusive is just too sweet for words though. I couldn't pass. I love the detail on the broken Vader helmet. The same thing goes for the Grievous exclusive. I had to get that one through SSC since I love the detail/design of the cape. I am officially hooked on the PF Line now as well... thanks Sideshow!

I cleared out the majority of my MR collection, but kept a Vader ANH, Obi ANH and Luke ANH. With the release of this item, I decided I'd rather have the Luke ESB to display alongside it, instead of the Luke ANH.

While I like how the exclusive piece looks, it's not enough for me to justify paying the extra money for it. Grievous is the only PF that I think has a worthy exclusive. His cape really looks fantastic.

I'll wait for the dealers to put Luke/Yoda up for pre-order and save myself some bucks.

I did it ! I put it on Flexpay. I am now going to have to get a second job to pay this stuff off. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif I gave it alot of thought though and I really like this statue. The exclusive sold me on this one. I also have the Grevious coming soon and that one has the exclusive cape. They announced the ES at 1150.

jabba_the_ridge
05-23-2006, 08:05 AM
I have to agree with you, as far as Star Wars is concerned anyway. There's such a wealth of high end collectibles out there, I can't get excited about the 3 3/4 inch figures any more.

I disagree with the earlier comment about Grievous having the only exclusive that's a must. I think this one certainly is a gem as far as exclusives go, a nice little side piece which really enhances the item.

I don't have any of the PF figs at the moment, the main reason being the expense. I could afford one, but the fact is you have to preorder these things so far in advance with Sideshow. I'd be like "hmmm I really like that PF better preorder it" then after two weeks I'd be like "I still like the PF but if I didn't tie up all that money preordering it, I'd have been able to preorder the Darth Maul mini bust, Darth Vader Animated Maquette, Master Replicas mini Stormtrooper Blaster and that Koto Leia is pretty nice too...."

What I'm trying to say is for me there's too many other items I'd want to preorder between preordering a PF and it being released. I like to limit my preorder spending so I don't get carried away (cos you easily could, couldn't you?)
and I wouldn't like to tie up that much cash on a single item with so much great stuff being released.

Flexi pay is a great idea though http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

BigDumbWookiee
05-23-2006, 08:08 AM
So is there going to be a standard edition or what? Seems odd that they announced an edition size of 1150 on the exclusive, or is that how they always do it? I preordered one just in case, but will sell/trade it for a standard edition if one comes out...

Nevermind, looked at the ESs on others, and realized how high they were. Surprising the exclusives command so much more in terms of price.

jabba_the_ridge
05-23-2006, 08:19 AM
I guess people don't think they have the complete item if they're missing the exclusive.

Personally I don't mind whether it's an exclusive or a regular edition.

BigDumbWookiee
05-23-2006, 08:21 AM
Guess so. Well, I know I will just want the standard edition, so if anyone's interested in ordering the standard version, and lining up a trade for the exclusive, just let me know. I dont want to pay the $20 cancellation fee, and I doubt Sideshow will let me change the order to a standard edition (maybe they will though, who knows).

jabba_the_ridge
05-23-2006, 08:25 AM
They seem like a fairly customer focused company, have you sent them an email asking to change your order from an exclusive to a standard version? I think they'll probably do it, as once the exclusive sells through, they're bound to have a couple of people on the wait list for one, so it's not like they won't be able to give your exclusive to someone else.

At the end of the day, you're still purchasing a PF statue from them, so they wouldn't lose much money.

Is there a difference in the price point between regular and exclusive PF figures?

I've decided to skip SS premiums entirely. I really was hopiong just to grab this one, and a Leia, but it's just not in my budget. I can hardly keep up with their 12's, MR, GG, and koto, let alone getting into another line. I know I will regret it down the road, but I must take financial responsibility somewhere....

Amir
05-23-2006, 12:11 PM
I agree it is a slippery slope. I found focusing my collecting helps with not buying everything out there SW, I am focusing my collecting to just Luke and Leia so hopefully that will help me stay within my budget.

It can't be to long before we see those guys. Now that they're done with ANH and Fett's finally an option, he seems like an obvious choice. Besides, I really doubt that they'll do another Vader so soon, given that he changes appearance a lot less than, say, Luke, between EP IV and V, so what other villains could they do anyways?

I ended up ordering the regular edition Luke/Yoda from Dark Shadow Collectibles for $296. Although I think the exclusive Vader helmet is pretty cool, it's just not something that I'd want displayed with the statue. It would look out of place IMO. So, I might as well save a few bucks and just get the regular piece through a secondary dealer.

Yeah, this is one of those pieces that captures a moment in the original trilogy: when Luke learned how to become a Jedi. Just classic!

Definitely one that you could pick up and display by itself even if you don't own any other SW PF sculpts.

I feel the same way about this one. This is a great representative piece, symbolic of the essence of the whole Saga. It depicts the main protagonist right in the midst of his journey into self-discovery and knowledge of his origins, family, the Force and the epic's villain. So much more the better that it also includes Yoda, one of the series' other great characters (and visually interesting)! And, continuing the symbolic elements, Luke is literally carrying the burden of his new indoctrination on his back.

I loved this when I saw it, but hesitated to try to come up with so much money for a collectible thing. I decided to go for the exclusive when it recently came up for second chance offer. This is my first high end collectible item. I'm excited to have one really nice display piece that represents the the rich mythological tradition in Star Wars, depicting the young hero learning from the wise teacher in that classic scene. Can't wait to get it! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, Vader is the ultimate character for choosing just one high end piece. But as 1:4 PF pieces go, this one's a pretty good choice for a hero character that represents the whole essence of the Saga. Especially for that mythic symbolism.

So, when they announce a piece is due out in a certain quarter, do they usually start shipping the beginning of said quarter? Or does it end up pretty random?

I've found they ship Flex pay shipments about the same time as people who pay in one bundle.

Just got a notice on my FlexPay for this, the last 2 payments have been pushed back until December & January. So this probably won't be coming out until January/Feb.

Got mine today. I'm not totally thrilled with the likeness on Luke (though my wife disagrees and thinks he looks fine), but I'm very pleased with the pose. Like some of the other PF statues, there's a real sense that it was captured in the middle of an action, as if his eyes are just flicking back to Yoda as he's about to ask a question.
The Yoda is very nice, and I was extremely pleased by how quickly and easily I got his hands into position on Luke's shoulders.

The piece is full of little breakable bits, making it easily the second most fragile of the PFs that I have (with the good General as the obvious frontrunner), but those bits provide a lovely amount of detail (the way Luke's hair is sort of hanging in clumps adds so much to the statue, though it looks like it could break if you looked at it wrong).

Do you find the statue wobbles on the base? It doesn't seem nearly secure enough with the one metal foot peg. Do any of you ever find you need to secure PF figures to their bases with any adhesive or cementing products?

I saw comments about it being wobbly, but mine is very stable. When I first slid it into place, it was a touch wobbly, but then the right foot caught on a barely visible little "lip" on the stump, and he's been very solid since. If you pick it up, it's obvious that it is only supported by the one peg, but it doesn't move when casually touched or when anybody walks by.

I've not needed to glue any of my PFs. My Han is a little loose, but that only matters if I need to move him. Much like the Luke & Yoda, he stands up fine to someone touching him or people walking by, he just requires extra support when picking up the base.

I already contacted SSC, and hope that they will allow me to just return the exclusive item for a replacement. The rest of the statue if fine, and I would like to keep it. What do you think my chances are of being able to return only the exclusive? I already asked SSC if it could be done.

With my Grievous I just had to take pictures of the damaged part and they sent me a new one. My Leia had a chipped base and with that one they had me send the whole thing back. My guess is that because the base has the number that is why the whole thing went back.

I would assume that you will have to take pictures and then they will send you a new exclusive helmet. No matter what they do, you are in good hands as their CS is top notch!!

The hands do seem to have a matching sculpt to the shoulders (that is, they have kind of a natural "Resting place" on the shoulders where they fit especially well). I put them in place on the shoulders and then sort of bent the inner wires until they stayed there.

Thanks for the info guys! That gave me the courage to bend the arms and now Yoda is in place perfectly. This is one awesome statue! SS got the faces just right; well sculpted and painted. The little details are great too such as the mud/water near the roots of the tree on the base, the dirt on Luke's hands and clothes, Luke's messy/sweaty hair. Yes it's an expensive statue at $350 but I feel very worth it.

I would completely agree that the fine details on this statue are superb. The exclusive is also the best out of the lot (maybe next to Grievous' cape).

The face paint/sculpt threw me off. I thought it could have been better. No complaints with the rest of luke and yoda was amazing.

I don't know if my expectations are increasing with each statue, or the fact that ESB is my favourite movie, but the overall "wow" factor was not there for me - especially on something that cost me almost $550 US dollars when everything was said and done.

As an example (admittedly apples to oranges) I really liked the Rancor statue from GG and was absolutely blown away by it in person.

Having said all of that, I ownly started collecting SW again about 1 year ago (albiet in full force) so I can only give my 2 pennies on anything. Regardless I love SS and am anxiously awaiting boba and news on the next statue.

Speaking of which, I received their catologue and was quite impressed with the "versus" line. Now that would be awesome for Star Wars. Hmmm.. Boba va Han, Luke vs Vader, I could go on and on...

There are a number of fine detail pieces that seem like they could easily snap off, but overall, I'm much more concerned about the fragility of my Grievous PF than I am this one. The fine detail on the Luke & Yoda is either close to a larger piece or in the middle of the base, both of which make it less likely something will bump into it. On the good General, the arms stick out into space, just begging for someone to come along and snag them with a sweater or something.

i finally called SS about my luke/yoda statue. it still hadnt shipped and i had thought somehow it got cancelled. SS said they didnt know why it hadnt shipped and that it must of got stuck in the system. it will be arriving soon.

Same thing happened to me and I was told the same thing. Looks like more than one order of the Dagobah Luke slipped through the cracks.

i called over 3 days ago and SS said it would ship immediatly. i still havent gotten a shipping notice. if i dont hear anything by tommorrow i might just cancel the exclusive and pick up the reg version later for cheaper. i have jabba w/throne shipping soon. not enough money to go around.

I've never had this problem with SS before so I'm being patient with them. It took them 10 days just to process my order. The only reason it took that long was because I called them to run it at that moment...otherwise who knows how much longer it would have taken. The CS representative told me, however, that my item would not ship for another 5 business days approximately since their shipping department was running behind big time. I suggest you wait another three days at most, then cancel if they still haven't gotten their act together.

I also ordered the Jabba and Throne so I'm with you there as well.

My Luke w/Yoda showed up today..Damn what a beautiful statue...Alot of times I see a statue, bust and/or figure and it looks good, but it looks sooo much better in front of you...

The detail on Luke, Vader head and Yoda is amazing...However, I hope to find a place for him...I'll wait til Jabba shows up to display him...

Got mine last week and love it. Make sure you really bend Yoda's neck to make it look correct. It will not break. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I wasn't reall overly fussed about missing out on this piece after seeing most pics but now I've seen Grusons pic and how good it can look when posed correctly I'm going to have to pick it up eventually.
I will still wait and grab it on ebay though as they tend to go for alot less than retail on ebay here in the U.K

Well I've just taken the plunge and ordered one from Ebay, I decided to get one from the states which was an ex display piece from a store. Seller stated its mint and is packed back up in everything including the original shipping box from SSC I don't mind that it already been opened and displayed briefly.
Worked out only costing 150 shipped so I'm quite pleased with that, can't wait for it to arrive.

Anyone got any advice on bending Yoda's arms and neck?
Wheres best to hold them? How felixble are they? How much force should I use? Should I do it little by little or all at once? etc.
Last think I want to do is snap his head and arms off

theropod
05-16-2007, 01:41 PM
It's prety easy.
If you hold the body firmly, you can move the arms and neck pretty easily without worry about breaking it. Just don't tug at the smaller bits like the fingers or ears.
How you position Yoda in the backpack makes a difference as well.

Yeah I've noticed from various pics the position of Yoda makes a huge difference. I'm going to use Grusons pic for reference as that looks great, its what made my final decision on picking on up.

Your favorite really? It looks really good. So far I have Luke, Han, Obi, Vader, Leia, and Vader(Still need Grievous). Leia was the first PF I ever bought and so far she is still my favorite.
Then again, Luke and Yoda haven't arrived yet... http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've spent awhile positioning Yoda and I'm happy with it now.
I've took a few pics but pics just don't do this piece justice you really can't capture the weathering of the clothing of this piece in pictures you really have to see it to see just how incredible this piece is.

Hey guys! First time poster here in the Sideshow section. I just ordered my first PF, Luke and Yoda. It'll be my second SS item. I'm a longtime collector of Gentle Giant, but I've decided to branch out a bit after all their crappy CS lately. I also put my name on the wait list for the Biker Scout PF. What can I say guys- I'm hooked! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just got one of these with my CIV giftcard, got a $50
I was very happy to see the website have the exclusive version available. I got #133
Here is my review

1. The base is without a doubt one of the bset features of the statue, very detailed. The moss and the wet effect they painted on it looks great
2. The weathering on luke is top notch also, sweat marks and the muddy hands are great
3. I was sold on getting the exclusive version when i saw the helmet at Celebration, but it my hand...WOW. they really went all out on this one. paint job is really good, the damage to the helmet looks incredible and the weight of it is crazy!
Has to be the best exclusive item to date. A must if your gonna pick up this item

OK now the cons.
1. Yoda.....not a full figure just a stump body.
2. not weathering, dirt or anything done on Yodas clothes.
I feel they dropped the ball there. i am thinking of ragging up his outfit. Look at the Jason vs. Freddy PF raggy outfit. That would ahve made Yoda appear that he live on Dagobah...he is way to clean and nice http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/mad.gif
3. Also Yoda seems a little too cartoonie in the face, i think the sculpt could have been done a little better, hair, paint application.

Besides that i truely can say this is one of my favorite statues...just becareful moving it , I almost broke that small piece of moss in the middle of the base that hangs down when i picked it up to put it in my display
I'll try to get some picks up this week

Just curious, did any of you have problems with the exclusive Vader Head?

My first one was cracked on the back. They sent a replacement and the head is actually separated from the outer shell and one of the "screws" is broken off.

Thanks Boba
Yes,I'm sure I will love him.I have read the topic about PF Vader where so many people defamed it.It seems ridiculous to me,since sideshow looks 100X better in person than on the pics, and Vader looks awesome on the pics..
