I guess it's a little odd for another Luke so soon but I guess SS just wanted to make a PF Yoda and not have to sell him as a single piece. Pairing him with Luke was the most logical choice.

Khev
05-11-2006, 09:44 PM
Shoot! Bespin/Dagobah Luke is my most anticipated 12" figure from Sideshow. Guess I won't be seeing that for a while then.

EDIT: But the PF looks *fantastic*. If I had the budget I'd [censored] this up in a heartbeat.

I am very excited about this one. Yoda training Luke defines the OT for me. I am expecting to see a PF Boba Fett pretty soon, I wasn't expecting this in the least.

I couldn't be much happier, even if it is another version of a previously released character.
Now if SS wants to do a second version of another character, I wouldn't mind a Leia as Jabba's prisoner either.

You know in the other thread about PF's I figured if they gave us another Luke, it would be with yoda. It gives them an excuse to give you Yoda, but instead of such a small 1/4 figure, they can give you Luke too. I think they look great.

Didn't like the 1st Luke statue. I wanted Luke in his Snowspeeder gear... but the Dagobah Luke w/ Yoda combo is like my 2nd preference so if they can keep the facial likeness as good as this on the final product, I'm up for it.

Weasel27
05-12-2006, 08:02 AM
Luke in Hoth gear would be cool but it would probably be a tough one to recreate at that scale. It would probably turn out to be too bulky looking with all that clothing.

I think Dagobah Luke is a great choice!

Now, when can we pre-order this? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This new PF just has me feeling like 12 years old again munching on popcorn in a darkened theater! Gotta get it. As for the exclusive item, as Kong mentioned, some of Luke's crates would be a good guess. I think the "over-the-top" item would be a blown-open Vader helmet revealing Luke's face. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I absolutely LOVE the choice of this piece but I can't get over the fact that the face sculpt looks nothing like Mark Hamill to me.

Maybe it's the angle but he looks like some random guy to me.

I assume the guy who sculpted the 12" Luke didn't do this one?

Doesn't really look like Yoda either. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Love the pose, but agree that the face doesn't look much like Luke. The ANH Luke was much closer to Hamill IMO. But the body sculpt is cool - no soft body connected to arms like the Luke and Han.

I cry because I have had a 1/4th ESB Yoda sculpt going for ages. The hope was to one day work for company like this and make a grand statement with this sculpt as to the nature of my accuracy skills + I dont want to be a bootlegger!

I'm not to pleased with this take on Yoda and this has nothing to do with my efforts. I know how hard the bugger is to sculpt and I can say that my various attempts have gone on now for a few years.

If a reworking is done like Vader and such. The ears need to be longer, I sugest looking at his chin more, rework the head scales, and hes missing some lines in his eyelids. Too much to say.

I see whats off and I'm sure its only because I've taken my hand up on ESB Yoda several times at many scales, only to fail or move on to another scaled attempt- hating 1:1 most because of how hard it is too move that sculpt around in relation to study material.

I will say this. You can see the love in the sculpt no doubt. It's like you cant seperate either figure or it would look off. Cause Luke is looking back and his hair is pretty neat. I wish Yodas hair was real... Thats enough of my griping. Now back to crying again...

Well I am torn on this one. I like how the figure preview looks, but final judgement will have to come when more pics are available. I don't like the fact Luke will have 2 PF figures already, but pairing him with Yoda is just a good move by Sideshow. I would rather have Luke in Jedi gear as a 2nd PF Luke, but oh well. I am only collecting non-human looking PF Sideshow figures (Vader and Greivous so far) Something about how Han and Luke came out just doesn't seem right. There is a definete improvement on the Leia, but Sideshow is not quite there with human face scultps, IMHO The Yoda is non-human and I definetly want it, I just hope Luke improves on the previous human PF figures or I will pass on this one.

I look at mine everyday, and I think the skin and texture look near perfect. I admit that Ben is the best human likeness to date, but the SS versions of Luke and Han have no equal. They are very much the best representation of the characters made.

I can confidently recommend any SS SW 1/4 statue for any high-end collection.

give it time, remember most of the PFs can be found on eBay for cheaper than what they sold for, but now look at like Ex. Grievous, Rebel Hero Han, Vader, Leia - they all come back up in value, just not overnight.

It is too bad some of these drop so low in value, IMO there is not a better collectible out there. I have every one of them and regardless of what they go for on eBay I will never sell one.

I bought the exclusive as well. The Vader helmet is the most creative of all the exclusive items offered so far in this line (although I think Grievous' cape is the best, simply because it makes the statue). Anyway, I agree with your assessment of the Luke/Yoda PF figure it's incredible, especially the weathering on Luke's costume, and the detail on the base.

Yeah ... I've been meaning to get it for some time, so I finally ordered one. I've definitely been looking forward to it. I just now have to wait a bit longer.
The lady on the phone said that I would have to speak to the "Returns" department to sort things out and that they're backed up 5-7 business days. So, I'm probably looking at at least three weeks before I get the correct order.
When I told her which incorrect PF I got, she said something to the effect of, "Oh ... so that's where it went. I just got a call from someone who received your statue."
