Hello all,

Just browsing ebay for a ESB Luke....

This listing.....

STAR WARS ESB BROWN HAIR LUKE ACTION FIGURE $229

takes you straight to the sign in page and, yep you guessed it... http/www. etc NOT https/www.

Avoid at all costs!!

Just thought I better let everyone know.

Andrew.

<font color="brown"> wait, people can post an item that's actually a link to a faux sign-in page? holy crap, how does e-bay let them get away with that? like, you have to click the link, sign in, then see the item page?

i had no idea this could happen... </font> http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I turned off JavaScript so I could view the auction and get the info. I have reported this to ebay. I suggest everyone email them and let them know that this is happening

I almost fell for this scam last month. These jerks really seem to be getting smarter all the time. I feel bad for people who get tricked this way.

Agree, Geester. Between this one and the "Nairobi" scam discussed on my thread, (http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.php?Cat=5&Number=1771145&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#1771145), things are getting really creative.

If you read too many of these threads, you get well informed but you also get the sense (perhaps falsely) that eBay is being overwhelmed by those who have coopted it for shady gains. I've been an eBayer since 2001 and IMO 2006 is the new highwater mark for the sheer frequency and # of different types of scams.
