Rehash? I hope not, but knowing Hasbro...... I'm not really looking forward to this figure but I know some of you are!

Please don't tell me your going to start a thread on EVERY single rumored figure!

Wait until at least HAsbro confirms them.

This figure is a waste anyway, we already have 2 versions of him, he has 5 seconds screen time and I really can't see any improvments being made or that need to be made.

Are the vintage and POTF2 the 2 you refer to? If not was there another modern version that I missed?

There was a Saga repainted version for the cantina deluxe sets.

This will be a repaint unfortunately...

He was released twice since POTF2:

POTF2 and SAGA (he came with a bar section).

Maybe they'll give a new paint application or some new articulation (shoulders and elbows)? Have to wait till pictures to turn up before saying it's a bad thing, don't forget some of the old POTF figures that were reissued in the OTC line had a new paint job and they turned out fantastic.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that "Hammerhead" doesn't mean "Momaw Nadon". Maybe it will be this guy:

I don't know guys it might be a new sculpt. The Bib Fortuna's a new sculpt. I have a fondness for this figure since it's one of the first vintage figures I owned as a kid. I made him a "bad guy" and spent COUNTLESS hours having him battle Luke and Han. I'm holding out hope that it's a new sculpt. The POTF2 mold has got to be like 10 years old by now.

BobaMOTSU

How many figures is a character who had 2 seconds on screen need? One was enough, 2 was overkill, 3 is ......... I don't know what 3 is, but there wasn't a need for it.

Darth_Tedious

If it's a resculpt (like with more articulation) I'll definitely pick up a few. Hammerhead has always been my fav alien from the cantina.

I don't think I need another re-paint though.

I think will be the SAGA 2002 Cantina Packs version, that's quite good... Is not super-articulated, but has a good mold and paint deco. Don't you think?
Then, if Hammerhead is a re-issue (that version) there's one more possibility to get a re-sculpt of the Garindan. Well, I prefer it...

Impossible.

Whoever wrote up the list just dosen't know Momaw Nadon, or prefers Hammerhead, and dosen't realize the Cantina aliens go by 'Patron', not 'Denizen', which applies to only a few of those from Jabba's Palace.

It's not that I don't believe you...but how in the world could this site prevent you from referring to another site? People constantly refer to other sites on here.

Oh well, time will tell on who is indeed a repack or not. I hope that Hammerhead is not one of them, but at the expense of having other figures (i.e. ANH Han and Luke, Endor Confrontation Luke) be repacks instead...I wouldn't mind a repack of Momaw Nadon.

RS Report:

"It’s interesting that Hasbro would choose to go with this character’s classic name instead of the silly Expanded Universe name used on previous releases. With that in mind, maybe we can all forget the outlandish notion that he was a rebel with a green thumb. Considering he’s going to be completely resculpted, he deserves to be remembered as the villain he was always meant to be. "

Hammerhead has always been my favourite Cantina alien. I'm glad to see he will now get the treatment he deserves.

And for the record, I've always called him "Hammerhead." http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I still would have prefered a new alien to a resculpt of Hammerhead who we already have 2 off. This guy only had a few seconds screen time and hes going to have 3 figures (4 if you count the vintage).

Really not needed IMO, Evazan is much more in need of a resculpt than Hammerhead so I don't know why Hasbro choose this one.

I agree completely. Hammerhead, or the POTF2 to be specific, is IMO one of the few POTF2 which have stood the test of time quite well. I don't think we needed a new version, not this soon anyway, but I suppose Hasbro had to crank out a new version at some point so whether it be now or later we were going to get him regardless.

I'll definitely be looking forward to him and to picking him up though http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Momaw Nadon is a name, Hammerhead isn't anything more then just nostalgic factor because the character didn't have a name when he was being made in the 70s - honestly it's lame and very unoriginal. Like if Hasbro released a hoth trooper with the name "Brown suit artic ice fighter" instead of Hoth Trooper.

Bennyhaha
10-31-2005, 10:05 AM
To me he will always be hammerhead. Nostalgia I guess.

EternalJedi
10-31-2005, 02:33 PM
When I watch ANH, and I see the "Ithorian" on-screen, I immediately think "there's Hammerhead!" Luke gets attacked by Walrus Man. Couldn't West End have come up with a better name than "Ponda Baba?" In the Jabba's Palace scenes, I see Yak Face and Tooth Face, not "Saelt-Marae" and "J'Quille," who sounds like a basketball player. When I look at the figures, I think the same thing.

I don't think every single background character in the Star Wars films needs to be given a name and a backstory.

Darth_Anton
10-31-2005, 02:39 PM
The prosect of this figure gives me a warm fuzzy vintage feeling inside. More articulation, a scaled down sculpt (both speculation on my part) and the classic name are just what the doctor ordered.

Inigo_Montoya

After a Jedi robing, he'll be alternately used as Roron Corrob.

Toonimator
10-31-2005, 07:29 PM
Oh yes, a new Ithorian? Bring it on! I wonder if he'll be in screen-inaccurate blue, like his Vintage ancestor? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif The more aliens the better, so long as they've got decent articulation. If ball-joints are too much to ask, give us swivel elbows for neutral & other poses, no bent elbows with swivel biceps. Ball shoulders would be nice, of course http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Then, let the customs begin! Roron Corrob! Ithorian smugglers! Mercs! Herders! Healers! Sith! Bring it on!

i think we could do with another one of these. i never thought the potf2 one was scaled correctly. i believe he should be a much larger figure, with a wider head. and they could correct his coloring.
the way i see it the more cantina patrons the better.

Eh, they'll probably give him a blaster like most of the other Cantina guys get: the Imperial BoShek-style would be nice, but the Zutton/Ellors Madak model is much more common. Or it could be a repainted Bespin Security pistol like the Gotal came with.

Guess it depends how they sculpt Hammerhead's hands! The one major disappointment I had with the POTF2 version was he couldn't hold other weapons very well.

GNT
11-03-2005, 04:32 AM
He should come with a glass not a blaster http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif but a small pistol would be alright.

Toonimator
11-03-2005, 12:18 PM
Oh, I agree, he should have a glass, too. Just like (nearly) all the other modern Cantina denizens. But they've all got guns. Mos Eisley IS a wretched hive of scum & villainy; Luke probably got picked on partly because he was a scrawny farmboy that reeked of bein' green, but also because he wasn't packin' obvious heat. Hammerhead SHOULD be armed; the vintage one was, after all http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif Just no more massive double-barrel cannons.

In an early, unfinishef Fan-Fiction story, I created a hammerhead character whoch was force-sensitive ... he befriended Obi-Wan and was finally able to wield a light-sabre, although he never became a Jedi, because Obi-Wan was killed. In the course of the story, he invaded Jabba's Palace after his (Jabbas) death in search for treasures ... a member of his party was a sister of Oola, who was searching for her, because the contact to her was interrupted at one point. Her name was Noola Onla, and she was very well trained in body movement and combat.

The strange thing about this is that a character with some similarities appeared much later in the "Young Jedi Knights" series by Kevin J. Anderson. I remember having met him in Cologne during a book signing session, and I vaguely remember having told him about my story. I guess that's where he drew his character (sister of Oola) from

Anyway, this hammerhead means very much to me, symbolically. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif I gues I would buy him regardless the price. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif But only because it means that much to me. Without the symbolic meaning, it's nothing else than a very good sculpted figure to me.

Edit : By the way, I believe he should be unarmed. Ithorians are generally peaceful citizens. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I like unarmed figures much more than armed ones. Why ? Because armed citizens are much more common. It's as if everyone was bearing a weapon, which might be true in the US, but not in other countries (Germany, for example).

Plus, they stand out from the mass. Everyone has a weapon. Those who don't are the minority. And therfore more interesting, imho. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Interesting thought ... It would be a re-use of the same mold, probably ... thus more income for one and the same mold ... I would not be surprised.

I guess they'll use the Muftak mold for the Talz Jedi.

Yeah, in the days of onomonopia, when a Hammerhead had a hammer for a head, wolfman was a wolf-man, and a rancor keeper was a mere ranco keeper.

Still, this will be a cool custom for making Roron Corrob, Foul Moudama's Jedi buddy from the Clone Wars beyond the Cantia cool he clearly has. Count me in for two.

Nor do I. Momaw's supposed to be a fairly peaceful guy, as Ithorians are by & large.

Though that doesn't stop me from wanting some Ithorian Separatist Warriors as depicted in ROTS concept art!!! They'd go great with a Quarren Warrior or two based on the cartoon, and the concepts of battle-hardened eyepatch Ki-Adi & saber-fist Plo Koon. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ohhh man!!!! You got THAT right, GNT!!!

From the POTF II line, I'd love to see Hasbro re-make:

1) LUKE SKYWALKER:ROUGE LEADER

2) DEATH STAR GUNNER

3) LUKE SKYWALKER: STORMTROOPER DISGUISE

4) HAN SOLO: STORMTROOPER DIUSGUISE

5) TUSKEN RAIDER: Jundland Wastes Encounter (SA, Gaderffi Stick, ammunition belt and bandoliers, laser long-rifle, and soft-goods robes AND outer cloak)

6) AT-ST DRIVER: With removable helmet

7) REBEL SOLDIER: Hoth Echo-Station Infantry (SA, with Backpack, and Rifle / NOT overly tiny like the horrible SAGA figure from two years ago) Note: This figure would be an AWESOME army builder!!!

8) GENERAL HAN SOLO: Endor Strike Team (Soft goods Trench Coat, separate Flight Vest, separate Gun Belt with working Holster. Blaster pistol, Thermal Detonators) It's time to correct the horrible MISTAKES of POTF II "Han Solo (Endor Gear) AND the overly flimsy SAGA "Han Solo (Endor Bunker) with his gruesome face sculpt and crappy pre-posing.

9) ADMIRAL ACKBAR: We need one that actually has HIPS!!! A separate skirt piece would help immensely) Perhaps this could be a "deluxe figure" that comes with that Rebel Cruiser swivel command chair

10) MON CALAMARI OFFICER: Same critique as Ackbar

11) PONDA BABA: A new one needs more detail and paint deco)

12) WEEQUAY: Oh BOY does this character NEED a new figure!!) Perhaps a two-pack with his (differently-dressed)brother?

13) PRINCESS LEIA: Jabba's Prisoner We should maybe get one with an interchangeable lower-body. One pair of legs would be for standing, another pair of pre-posed legs would be for lounging in front of Jabba)

14) NEIN NUMB: With a separate vest/ and neutral posing)

15) LUKE SKYWALKER: Yavin Ceremony: This needs to be a slimmer sculpt than the overly-bulky POTF II version. Separate (torso) flight jacket section. Separate Gun Belt and working Holster. Blaster Pistol.

16) REBEL COMMANDO: Endor Rebel Stirke Team: SA with varying head sculpts, Back packs, and laser rifles)

17) PRINCESS LEIA: Ewok Village: Match the scale of the new "correct" smaller Leia figures/ maybe soft-goods skirt

18) BIGGS DARKLIGHTER: Red 3 (More poseable, with removeable helmet, separate leg straps etc. But lets have a NEW scuplt and NOT just a re-hash of Gold Leader. That "wayward" right arm of his drives me nuts!!!!)

19) BIGGS DARKLIGHTER: Imperial Academy Cadet: I know he did not appear in the POTF II line but... WE NEED HIM!!!!

20) LAK SIVRAK (Without the football player broad shoulders, and without the overly-literal "haunched" legs. Also, what's with the snazzy duds? His clothing should be more rough and soiled and ragged!)

21) ADMIRAL PIETT (a kit-bash onto the SAGA Admiral Ozzel body would be fine)

22) C-3P0: We need a really nice GOLDEN C-3po (ROTS 3-P0 was a bit pale). He should be correctly scaled to the other characters (ROTS 3-P0 is correct height. All previous others were too tall) . His sculpted details should be SHARP, not all "soft" like recent VOTC and ROTS 3P0's. And he should be SA!!!!!! No more pre-posing!! Removable limbs okay (as long as he can sit in Luke's Landspeeder without legs popping off!!!

23) UGNAUGHTS 2-PACK: It would be nice if this time they AREN'T salt-shakers with working arms. They should be poseable with actual separate work aprons (either soft goods or soft plastic... I don't really care)

24)DEATH STAR TROOPER / DEATH SQUAD COMMANDER: Should be SA with working holser for Imperial-issue blaster. Note: This figure should probably be re-named "IMPERIAL SECURITY OFFICER" since these men do NOT serve aboard the Death Star ONLY. They also serve aboard Star Destroyers, Imperial Bases, Garrisons, etc.

25) REE YEES: I can do without the "gunslinger" pose. This boy needs better detail, articulation, and paint)

26) MON MOTHMA: I'd like to see one that is NOT a salt-shaker with arms. A well-done soft-goods robe AND outer cloak would be GREAT!!)

27) ORRIMAARKO (PRUNE FACE): (SA with soft-goods cape, Rifle)

28) HOTH PRINCESS LEIA: (With separate vest like before, and a new overall sculpt in the new correct smaller scale size for Leia)

29) PRINCESS LEIA: YAVIN CEREMONY: ( New sculpt in the new correct smaller scale and soft goods skirt and cloak)

30)OWEN LARS: (All new sculpt WITHOUT the [censored]-eyed arm, possibly a soft-goods farmer's robe).

31)ANAKIN SKYWALKER: Spirit of the Jedi (Maybe done in the style of the Ghost Obi-Wan from the OTC) But this NEEDS to be older Anakin as a ghost, NOT Hayden Anakin!! Blasphemy that was...!!!

Bad articulation for a cantina member and, for me, it's not exciting enough. Kind of a boring figure with no knee joints. He should AT LEAST be able to sit. I'm passing on this guy.

Toonimator
04-04-2006, 04:34 PM
Knees would've been great... I was also expecting swivel biceps underneath his ratty sleeves. Could he really just be a 6-POA figure ala POTF2? Granted he looks much better than POTF2-era figures, but it's kinda disappointing. I was looking forward to a highly-articulated Ithorian.

Maybe when they do Roron Corrob, they'll offer up some new SA parts http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sorry but i do not agree. The sculpt rocks, but a top notch fig should have good articulation. THis one doesn't.

There is no excuse for Hasbro to limit articulation due to the anatomy of the figure. The legs are the worst excuse. All they needed to do was make the skirt of fabric or soft rubber/plastic and leg articulation would have been possible.

We've waited so long for a good Ithorian and all they can come up with is this?

Seems Hasbro does little to improve or perfectionize figs nowadays. Just look at all the Clone Commanders. None are perfect or near perfect except for Deviss, the green repaint and Bly. Worst is Cody. Hasbro knew he'd sell if they made him an awesome fig, but alas they made him out of scale and the articulation isn't SA. Really pathetic. Here's hoping for a retool in the near future.

Sorry, but mission failed in my opinion, definately.

He looks pretty good ... is there any elbow articulation at all? Do the knees even swivel?

I can't bring myself to buy him when I have the Cantina Bar pack one. Pass.

I have that one too, but the detailing on this one just blows that away. 04-07-2006, 11:22 AM
I doubt the knees swivel... I'd be upset if they did! That's such a crappy use of articulation when there's no bending knees (ala Veers' swivel boots -- useless! or ROTS Chewie/Tarfful/WookieWarrior with those awful rotating lower-legs -- pathetic! Esp. after the great knees the SP Warrior had)

If they do Roron later on, I imagine they'd give him a new sculpt. Slightly retooling the outfit on this one & dropping a saber in his hand won't work. I'm disappointed in lack of articulation, but agree he looks fantastic. I loved the POTF2 Momaw, wish I had gotten the Cantina Set retool, and I'll love this one as well.

Oh, and the staff is because Momaw's a peaceful Ithorian, not sure if his EU story is that he's a priest of some sort or not, but he believes in peaceful stuff like most Ithorians. Although, I'd LOVE if Hasbro made those super-cool Concept Ithorian Warriors from Art of ROTS (they would've been Seps, but oh well; I'd say they were a rogue element & not representative of the Ithorian whole, unless Ithorians were being royally screwed in some way by the Republic Senate)

Having now got one in hand .....

Sculpt is excelent, with the colouring having a grey wash over the brown of the previous version. Articulation a little lacking, nothing that wasn't on the previous version. The hood is a seperate piece over the back of his neck and is removable.

Base just has Star Wars on it - no A New Hope - and the character's name on the front.

Hologram was a red Obi Wan

I can see this coming back as a Jedi Itorian in the not to distant future.

For the more substantial customizers (beyond boil-n-pop kitbashing), the good news is that there's so little articulation on Momaw that you can just SCULPT Roron's Jedi tunic & pants onto him, sleeves & all, since there's no knees, elbows, biceps, or wrist articulation to worry about. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

For a background character with more articulation, look no further than Hem Dazon! I haven't picked him up yet, but after the Photo Archives update I'm definitely getting multiple.

As for the chapstick table... yeah, a bit wimpy. It should be barrel-sized; that's the kind of table at Han's booth, but it's taller & MUCH wider. Still, you can almost have it so Momaw's resting his hand & drink on the thing http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif A bit of a 'flavor of the Cantina' accessory, nothing more. Kinda like Lushros Dofine's control console, something to set up next to your figures.
