They won't put "lava reflection" into the regular line. That lame idea will be left to exclusives ... and hopefully, we've seen the last of it.

Mustafar Duel Obi Wan (with Hovering Platform Base)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v498/MattK/STAR%20WARS%20customs/Mustafar-Obi-Wan.jpg
Pilot Obi Wan with balljointed legs, reworked tunika, refined likeness and most importantly a Hovering Platform with a clear plastic/ lava base for it to float on.

RS posted this about the new Obi-Wan:

Quote:
The galaxyís most famous negotiator seems to have been unable to convince the top brass at Hasbro to create an entirely new sculpt of him for this wave, but if the Big H plays this one right, the retooled figure will be Pilot Obi-Wan with soft goodsÖ

So I assume a soft goods tunic. Would a soft good cloak be out of the question? We can never get enough of those.

But then, Hasbro's never really made a good cloth cloak.

isnt it supposed to be battle of courascant? thats him on mustafar! they should do a battle of mustafar, with a repainted evo anakin with a black cloak and removable limbs.

well, there really isn't any particular scene with Obi-Wan in a battle on Coruscant in ROTS. It definitely couldn't be with lava reflection, it couldn't include any of grievous'/grievous' bodygaurds' weapons, cause that's from Utapau and on the Invisible Hand. I don't know what they will do. They would be stupid not to use the #55 Obi-Wan pilot sculpt. I don't know about a soft goods cape, though, because there are SO many figures part of the '06 Saga line that need soft goods, and this one doesn't have to have it.

to me, Hasbro didn't even have to include this one. we have lots of Obi-Wans, and even though it'll probably be a neat one, completists are just going to be buying most likely the exact same thing they bought from the ROTS line.

SA and Soft goods.

Roton7
11-05-2005, 12:56 AM
If they pull through with soft goods, this figure HAS to be super-articulated. what kind of stupidity would it be to have a ROTS #1 Obi-Wan with soft goods?

Soft Goods sounds nice, but I would like it to have more details.

Inigo_Montoya

Pilot Obi is by far the best PT Obi Wan figure Hasbro has put out, it was a total shock to see this figure underneath the plastic jedi robe, and I think they did that to suprise us. Id expect to see this one w/ his saber hilt, saber, and a soft goods jedi robe. Thats all he really needs, and its again the perfect Obi Wan ROTS. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Nice job on Hasbro's part. Now I regret buying about 6-10 ROTS "Pilot" Obi-Wans http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

They used the best Obi-Wan available, and those robes are enough reason for me to contemplate buying a few...which is a lot more than I can say for the Anakin, though the soft goods is an added touch to that figure as well, but not enough to force me to consider buying any.

I'm glad they didn't or I'd have gone nuts trying to find a lot more of an exclusive figure.

I'm glad that they made one of my favorite figures even better. Even better yet if they paint the ring at his ankle. I plan on getting a few mainly for customs. I hope that the card has a pic from the Invisible Hand Docking bay.

But I already have a couple Pilot Obis and havn't got the twins Obi yet so I am not sure if I will get this one but I do like the soft goods robe, may do a swap and give Twins Obi the cloth robe from this one as Twins Obi looks stupid with that plastic robe while holding Luke.

I love the way he looks on card. The pose and how he blends in with the movie still in the background. He's ready to shake off that robe and face off Count Dooku.

The only poses that would have been cooler would have either been Obi Wan doing his famous Superman pose on the ramp of Padmť's Nubian Skiff (would have to be a Mustafar wave then, though) or Obi Wan in a leaping position to recreate him jumping out of his Jedi Starfighter.

I still don't have a Red Leader Obi Wan. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif

He does look GREAT carded (the whole wave does), but like I said in another post, if everyone os looking for an improvement on the new robes.........this is NOT it. The new robes are WORSE than ALL of the previous robes together.

I will be posting detailed pics in the next day or so, that way everyone can see what I'm talking about. (for those who have not already found the fig or are debating on getting this repack)

Might post the pics of Obi-Wan and Ki-Adi Mundi later tonight.

Do you have the fig, or jut going by pics.
If you have not seen the robe in person, then I think you are going to be let down (I DEFINATELY was).

It is sewn very badly, does not fit right, and the hood is NOT a hood.

I'll get pics up tonight to explain what I mean.

I'd say use the RotS Ki-Adi's. That's one of the best cloth material from Hasbro, but maybe just on him. His robe style is different from most of the Jedi, so I don't know how that'd work out.

These things are really easy to customize, and I think these robes actually look nice. Everyone complained about the VOTC Luke's tunic, and after a quick cutting and re-sewing job, it came out fantastic. That's what's so great about soft goods.

Hi all. i'm new to the forum. actually, it's the same ol' cliche...long-time lurker, first-time poster. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

anyway, i bought this figure last week to have another obi and to check out the new softgoods, and i have to say, i like the new robe. while not perfect (the sleeves could be a little longer), it's a definite improvement. it hangs quite nicely, and looks pretty realistic...

a lot has been made of the hood, and frankly, the proto pic on the back of the card doesn't do the robe justice...it just takes time to make it look movie-accurate...

I sold off my ROTS Obi-Wan when I saw this one coming out, cause I prefer the soft goods, and had no use for the plastic robe. Being that this is probably the best Obi-Wan to ever come out, and now they've made a marked improvement in many peoples eyes, by adding the soft goods, I don't know how you can chalk it up to a simple rehash that no one should care about. Barada this ain't.

I love this Obi-Wan mold. He has his flaws, but still one of the best Star Wars figures period. At this point, I have 3 of him displayed in one form or another.

-I have 2 of the ROTS Pilot version. When WM was selling these for $4.50 a pop, I could not pass up the idea of owning a second to ocupy the Starfighter full time)

-I have the Separation of the Twins one, did not open though.

-I caved on the Saga one. I'm a sucker for Soft Goods. While the hood leaves alot to be desired, he looks awesome displayed. Technically, this is the ONLY way to get a movie accurate depiction of Obi-Wan in his Starfighter since ROTS's robe is solid plastic.

I like this Obi-Wan. Also, with a little work on the hood, you can make it look really nice on his head, and not like s**t. I have 2 of these, as well as two of the ROTS Pilot ones. It's a perfect figure, definately worth the money IMO. SA, great sculpt, correct accessories=Perfect.

I really think the robe is a definite upgrade...like I posted earlier, while not perfect, it's the closest hasbro's come. I definitely think they're headed in the right direction for such a small scale.

Mrmforce, what you have to do is turn the hood inside out somewhat. I took the plastic robe that came with the ROTS figure, and adjusted the soft goods one to look similar in the way the hood folds and hangs. Anyway, I just love the way the figure looks on the shelf, front and back, and I pose it differently every day it seems, and I attribute that to the new softgoods. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Keaton33

the ROTS plastic cloack looks good if your foing a scene with dooku fighting anakin and obiwan in rOTS, right before they fight. his cloack looks JUST like thatmolded plastic one. this soft one.....looks baggy and dumb, if ya ask me. ive seen this guy in stores about 4 times now and each time i had no trouble whatsoever passing him up. sorry, but they could have given him an awsome accesory or something other then just a cloth cloack. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif cuz that just makes him a dumb repack.

Thats what I was thinking too. It seems too odd that someone would forget to toss a cloak and lightsaber on the figure in the factory. I mean something like missing paint spots is one thing, but a missing cloak seems a bit too much to be true.

Iím glad I listened to some of the people on the ROTS board when they said Hasbro would probably turn around & release this figure with a soft goods cloak soon. It made perfect sense so I passed on the ROTS version, hoping we were right & Iím glad I did.

I think this is my favorite cloak to date, although I donít like the bunched-up threadwork in the back but Iíll gladly overlook that small flaw.
