I smell a rehash people. Hopefully it'll kinda be an SA Yoda....as far as SA goes with Yoda. Hey, I can dream can't I?

The VOTC version was SA for Yoda. He had two legs for the first time since the vintage lines. Also his arms were really articulated. I smell a rehash as well. Hasbro, please stop making crappy prequel Yoda figures.

I think Hasbro realizes it's been far too long since we had this one:
http://www.rebelscum.com/episodeI/e1yodaloose-m.jpg

But really, we could expect this, without or without it's base:
http://www.rebelscum.com/ROTS/rots0526yodaloose-m.jpg

Because I never bought him, I didn't know that Yoda (Firing Cannon) had a removable robe and separated legs! I want him, really:
http://www.rebelscum.com/ROTS/rots0503yodaart.jpg

Leave the cannon (fine, but not AOTC related, or Yoda sized), take the Lightsaber, give him a repaint on skin and clothes, a soft goods robe, a cane, and maybe the Force Lightning he absorbs.

I could care less whether this figure is a rehash (which it probably will be) or not. If it is though, I agree with Montoya.

I dunno, I mean Yoda can only go so far in terms of an action figure.

If Hasbro could toss a soft goods robe on the ROTS Yoda I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

The only thing keeping me from buying the ROTS Yoda is the one-piece robe, which I think looks hideous. Its a good figure, lots of articulation, its just that ugly robe...bleh.

I totally agree. I bought the Yoda spinning Attack one and i DIDN'T buy the firing cannon one, and now i find out all of it's great articulation. Now all we need is a version of that with some battle damage, a cane and lightsaber (like you said), and a soft goods cape. That would be a must-buy for me...

Im cool with this as long as they give him a cloth robe.

Inigo_Montoya
11-08-2005, 02:11 PM
He needs an outer robe of one kind or another, or he'll be film innacurate.

Not to mention a huge gyp-over.
They're probably just showing which figure it is, and his articulation.

If they just repack the Yoda with cannon from the ROTS line, I'm not gonna get it. Already have it. But I'll have to see what accessories it comes with.

Roton7
11-08-2005, 05:49 PM
yeah, the only way i'm buying him is if they are going to add accesories (which i have no idea what they would be), or give him a nice-looking soft goods cloak. or both. if they don't do either, this is a guarantee pass-by figure for me.

Here's what's ironic about this;

By the time this hits the shelves, the (mere 9 month older) ROTS version, will still be on shelves adjacent to it and probably on clearance.

Meh, Hasbro still hasn't gotten a good likeness of Yoda yet, as far as I am concerned.

Yoda4501
11-09-2005, 12:39 AM
I thought the VOTC Yoda looks pretty darn close, at least the one I have carded does. Also it would be nice to see a down sized version of the Unleashed Yoda vs Sidious head sculpt of Yoda for a future prequel figure. If they could do Mundi with suck a great softgood why not give Yoda the same treatment and make up for the horrible ROTS Yodas.

GNT
11-09-2005, 02:41 AM
Bah this is one of the suckiest reissues, they should at least change something or give him something new to make it worth it.

UNIT01
11-09-2005, 07:00 PM
They should get Gentle Giant to do a head sculpt (didn't they do one for some other figure before?). Their bust-ups are great.

Isn't the ROTS #3 Yoda head the same as the VOTC one?

Nope. They are different sculpts. The VOTC version was a new scupt and so was the ROTS sculpt.

I just saw the picture of what might be the next yoda and I have to say its god aweful. I dont pass on many Yodas but this one is just horrible. Its just like the ROTS yodas, not worth buying. I still think VOTC is best among recent Yodas.

with ball jointed shoulders, swivel wrists!

comes with a lightsaber and removable saber and the lightsaber that attach to yoda's waist for storing the lightsaber while not in battle.

You start repeating yourself. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
The head is a little on the small side, though still the best ROTS Yoda- and fun!
My breakdown of favourite Yodas:
TPM- Ep1 version has a great sculpt, paintjob and balljointed shoulders (very unique until 2003)- plus a cool chair for him to sit in!
AOTC- SAGA Yoda with Chian (Jedi Youngling) Two-Pack.
Two figures for the price of one, good headsculpt, Hovering Chair, could hold Lightsaber with both hands- color was more accurate than on the other SAGA Yodas.
ROTS- #3
TESB- Flashback Yoda (with rooted hair). Hasbro has forgotten that Yoda has BIG pupils. This is one of the few who has them (as does the original POTF II release- which is basically the same mold), only that this Yoda comes with a teapot, a flashlight and those lovely rooted hair.

If Hasbro would've packed Yoda with the soft goods robe from the VOTC figure, I would've bought this version without hesitating. The only thing I didn't like about this figure when it was first released was the bulky, plastic robe. I love the sculpt and articulation of the figure. But ... seeing they're reissuing it with the same piece of plastic clunk, I'll be passing on this one.

I'm sure the occasional child will want a yoda in case they missed it during ROTS. Hell, I might get one just for the force glob they packed him with. Yoda is a main character and will probably move quite well, I think the really pegwarmers will be the geonosians. After collectors get those, I doubt most kids will want "the weird bug guys."

hexagram520
02-20-2006, 03:45 PM
a lot of repacks can be justified by how nice they look on the saga cards, but yoda's background is almost completely black (or looks that way), so he almost wasn't worth getting, but I wanna get 'em all and I like overall how he's posed, etc.

Yoda (this is actually #19) has been added to the Photo Archives:
http://www.rebelscum.com/TSC/TSC019yodaloose-m.jpg (http://www.rebelscum.com/TSC019yoda.asp)

This figure still sucks. No matter how many accessories you pack him with, or how nice the cardback is, this version of Yoda is awful.

Good thing we're getting him again in the upcoming Battle Pack! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Neal

Great pics (as always), Dan ... but I have to disagree with your opinion of this Yoda sucking. As far as sculpt and articulation go, I think it's the best Yoda Hasbro has made. I do hate the plastic outer robe though. This is one case where a soft goods robe would make this figure nearly perfect.

*___*
03-01-2006, 10:34 AM
Thanks...it's always fun to shoot "action scenes" http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah, a soft goods robe would help. To me, what makes this figure suck so bad is the outer cloak. Plus, the new accessories are lame...he can barely hold them. And the head pops off if you try to pose him.

The best thing to do is take this figure and stick him on a shelf...don't play with him, unless you like to have everything fall off all the time.

But I needed a new one, since I broke the hands of my ROTS figure. Oops.

This Yoda figure rocks.

Wish Hasbro took this version, added some balljoints in the elbows and knees and added some features. I.e. extra hilt that can attach to belt, some more detail on the body and colouration, included cane, a nice fabric cloak and you'd ave an awesome uber prequel Yoda.

If done right they could probably turn this one into a classic Yoda as well.

Heck they could even go deluxe on these. Then they'd have to add the hover and the council chair plus a testing screen for the prequel Yoda and Jedi training equipment for the classic Yoda.

This Yoda is an alright figure and serves his purpose of fighting Dooku or Palpatine. For me personally the pose just doesnt do anything for me - I just dont like the leg pose and could've been slightly better with more normal legs or something. Cloth cape would've been better also http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

DarthPete

I agree with the more normal legs thing. I tried to make a custom yoda out of one of these bodies and those boxers stance legs just effed it all up.
