View Full Version : C-3PO (Geonosis) - #017

Yes, Threepio, being a repack, needs his own thread now.

As Stylie_Steve and myself have pondered upon, this figure will almost certainly be this:
http://www.rebelscum.com/swsaga/sw02dlxc-3po3pofr.jpg

or this:
http://www.rebelscum.com/swsaga/sw02dlxc-3pofront-tn.jpg

Either with, or without BD head as an accessory.

I am hoping that the ROTJ2 C-3PO: Ewok Deity has knee articulation. If this is the case, I hope this AOTC 3PO is the same articulated Saga ROTJ2 mold with a browned paint job.

All speculation of course. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

With respect, I think this is probably one of the worst re-pack choices next to Comm tech Han. But, as with all the repacks, I'll only be getting one for my carded collection.

CJHawk
10-18-2005, 08:12 PM
If this has a very good paint job then I will be very pleased to see this. I haven't been impressed with the other AOTC C-3PO's paint.

Where are you digging up this crap dude? No one has said whether these figures will be repacks, retools, repaints, or resculpts.

Calm down.

Doesn't take a genius to figure some of them out. Hasbro wouldn't resculpt a figure that didn't really do well in the first place that only came out a few years ago.

So,this will be one of the fodders in the saga collection. I just hope they give it more accessories and articulation. If they release it like the old version, will still buy this.:)

10-18-2005, 09:28 PM
I'm actually hoping that this will be a straight repack especially if the endor 3po turns out to be everything I hope it can be(knee articulation to say the least). Besides it really doesn't make much sense to have two all new 3p0s in one year

stylie_steve
10-18-2005, 11:16 PM
I will probally pick it up as long as he comes with a full Battle Droid as well.

I need a extra one for my battle of Geonosis scene!

Don't mind that mold, just hope they give it an accurate paint job....

Sompeetalay

We don't know what they'll do with it. It could be fantastic (packed with a SRT-Droid) or it could be plain stupid (repack from deluxe 'AotC' Threepio). Let's just wait and see http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

With the proper paint app I imagine the Saga 3PO wouldn't be all that bad.

GNT
10-19-2005, 03:27 AM
If it's C-3po and the Battle droid I'd be up for that, while it may sound like a crap reissue it's still a fun figure (mixing and matching parts) so I'd like to see it again.

No bonus BD, I'm afraid, guys.

Tyranusspotting
10-19-2005, 06:14 AM
I wouldn't mind if it was the ROTS C-3PO repainted or the SAGA Line R-3PO. He should come with a pack-in figure. Like a detachable Battle Droid or Super Battle Droid. And his head should be removeable. so you can exchange it with a Battle Droid's.

CommanderRedd

I don't want to see another 3PO unless it's a South Park/Star Wars C-3PO Crossover. He comes with black leather outfit and a Lemmiwinks accessory. Put a battery and a chip in him and sell him as a deluxe figure with sayings like "Oh my! My posterior is caught in a feedback loop!"

Sev
10-20-2005, 09:45 PM
The ROTS line made a great C-3PO (which I'm STILL looking for) so I don't think I'll need this one.

Who do you have to force choke to get a Threepio with bendable knees?

Inigo_Montoya
10-20-2005, 10:43 PM
The choking may have already happened:

Chief Chirpa
Moff Jerjerrod
Death Star Gunner
C-3PO: Ewok Deity
Luke Skywalker: Endor Confrontation
Darth Vader: Endor Confrontation
The Emperor
Endor Rebel Commando

C-3PO

Remember that cool scene in AOTC when C-3PO got his head swapped with a Battle Droid? Wasn’t that zany fun? Thanks to this repaint, Hasbro will insure that we’ll never forget.

BlackRook
10-28-2005, 10:45 PM
So, I'm guessing he'll come with a battle droid and a blaster, but no full battle droid body.

Not to worry, I bought about three of these on sale at Kay Bee a while back for about $5 a pop. No Saga Threepio for me!

Inigo_Montoya
10-29-2005, 01:49 AM
Sort of surprised that RS is showing the figure to be C-3PO's body with the BD's head.

I'd think that the BD body with C-3PO's head would be the real Threepio personality of the two, with the memory banks, and voice, and all.

Dave, did you intend to say 'repaint', and not 'repack'?

Have any of the RS administration seen the figure, and know for certain it's the Threepio body with BD head, and not the other splicing of the two?

Either way, I won't buy it again, but it's made me curious.

Sev

Yea the AOTC 3PO is gonna be his body w/ a battle droid head, or vice versa. POS in my opinion. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Inigo_Montoya
10-29-2005, 05:28 PM
That would be an interisting twist if they repainted and kitbashed the ROTS Threepio for this figure.

D. Martin
10-29-2005, 05:41 PM
In a perfect world, Hasbro would realize that the ROTS 3PO is the very best job they've done on the character and use it as the base for any future rendition.

GNT
10-30-2005, 12:13 AM
So is it a A complete c-3po w/battle droid head (which can be swapped)and blaster or a 2 pack of C-3PO and Battle droid with interchangeable parts like the deluxe version?

Victor_Von_Doom
10-30-2005, 12:20 AM
Hasbro has already given us this exact same figure just a few years ago, so unless it turns out really, really good I am going to pass on this.

DarthJace
10-30-2005, 01:11 PM
I don't mind the switcheroo Threepio as long as they give him a new, accurate paint job, minus the green plating. C'mon, Hasbro, how hard could that be?

Roton7
11-04-2005, 11:59 AM
having the C-3PO with battle droid body would be stupid. I don't care if it's a repack, repaint, retool, or whatever. it'd be a total waste to go to the store and buy this, then come home and open it up to find a flimsy battle droid body with a disproportional C-3PO head. No way, man. I'm gonna pass this one by, whether it has the battle droid body or not.

GNT
01-09-2006, 03:18 AM
It's probably a good thing Hasbro didn't include any, none of them are great to begin with - Battle droids can't stand, super battle droids are kinda the same, destoyer droids suck with that action feature. I wouldn't get any again unless hasbro improves on them.

This is actually a pretty decent 3PO figure. I got two of the Deluxe set when it came out in the first Saga line so I could have a regular 3PO and Battle Droid and have a set of them with their mixed parts. Seeing that I already have two of this figure, I see no reason to get a third.

The other day I found someone selling the SAGA I Deluxe version of this figure in Modern Classifieds.
He wanted just below what the new SAGA II will cost, so I figured I'll just buy that one instead. This way I'll have the Battle Droid body and the Droid factory piece too.
I don't consider the shipping cost to be much of a factor because I bought a bunch of figures from him.

Anyone else get a C-3PO with a villain holo? Mine came with Dooku and I'm wondering if it was a goof or if they're considering the battle droid villain to have taken over Threepio's programming? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/confused.gif Are they actually classifying this guy as a villain?!

for those that have come across this wave has there always been one each of the two head variations in each case? just wondering if the one with the droid head would be the corrected version thus making the 3po head harder to find in the long run. or they might just release equal amounts of both. i noticed the version with the droid head is pictured on the back of the card on both versions.

I don't think there's anything to correct as it wasn't an error. They deliberately packaged Threepio alternately for novelty's sake. I saw what I think was 3 cases at target yesterday. I didn't count everything up, but I believe I saw at least one of each Threepio.

yeah, i was just wondering if it could end up being a running change where later cases would start showing up with just the droid head version. pure speculation on my part, but i thought i would see if everybody is finding both versions equally.

It is very difficult to decide these days what is a worthy variant and what isnt. The 3-PO is definately worthy. The Boba Fett from the Carkoon wave in my opinion is not as it is just a minor packaging variant. However, I am having difficulty in deciding if the Vader hoth and the Carkoon chewbacca figure variants are worthy of picking up. The Vader is only a packaging variant but it is quite a big variant and although the Chewie variant is actually a difference to the figure, do I really care that he has a slightly different chain. Its so difficult to decide.

No variant is worthy. Only running changes and intentional variants (I.E. Shocktrooper or Sith Eyes Anakin). Variants are retarded to buy. 14 bucks on a Darth Vader becuase his legs are posed slightly differently? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Give me a break. In my opinion I think variants add a certain spark to the hobby. Sure it may be really annoying or frustrating trying to find but it gives me another reason to get out there and hunt.

P.S. I would never pay more than retail for a variant.

Yes there were magnets on BOTH of the heads on the SAGA deluxe version. Went with the factory piece that the figures came with as well as the SAGA "flying" r2-D2. The magnets were like a "play" feature where you could use the factory piece to change the heads, or use the R2 to drag 3PO's head around. The factory thing did NOT work very well though.

It depends on what you want to collect. If I find the variant at retail, I'll get it, because I kind of like the packaging variant on this figure. who cares if I happen to have 2 carded examples of this figure? certainly not the people that think it'll be a pegwarmer.

I think it's cool how Hasbro did this. The different Holos makes the figure more interesting. If they are shipping equally, then I can understand why Hasbro put two of him per case. Nice touch.

I was wondering, has anyone opened this figure? I'm primarily a loose figure collector, and I know there've been some subtle changes to some of the Saga re-pack figures, like Poggle's paint job. So, I was wondering, do they Threepio/Battle Droid heads still have the little metal bits in the tops of them, or are they solidly molded? Also, do the heads actually stay on if you turn the figure upside down? They didn't on the original issue, so you could easily use the arm on they conveyor belt with the magnet to change the heads. If they've made these changes, I'd pick one up to open, but if not, I'd probably not buy it.

StarWarsMonsters
02-16-2006, 12:34 PM
I never got the Deluxe Saga set, but I opened the TSC one and I can answer a couple of those questions. Both heads snap in real good and do not fall out. And no, they don't have magnets or metal on them.

BTW, the little sculpted wires at the base of their heads are a painful reminder to me of how extra *****in' Evo Vader would be with a similar wrist peg. A severed hand would've made that fig perfect! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif

3PO w/ BD head-Darkside Holo
3PO w/ 3PO head-Lightside Holo

I guess it doesn't matter, but I think the 3PO w/ the BD head on makes more sense since thats what the figure is and thats the carded picture.

http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif I thought that would be a funny shot when I did similar pictures of the heads.

Here's something extra for you all!

I don't think the full Droid Factory Assembly Line has ever been shown before. Certainly not on Rebelscum. I decided to not use this shot on the page, since it had dark shadows on it, and the other view was a better picture. So, consider this an exclusive for the forums! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

http://www.rebelscum.com/TSC/TSC017c3pofactory-tn.jpg (http://www.rebelscum.com/TSC/TSC017c3pofactory.jpg)

I believe the R2-D2 (Droid Factory) figure was going to include another part, but it obviously didn't.

The playset can also hook up to the Deluxe Yoda base, but not as part of the Droid Factory.

For the record, the parts are from:

- Geonosis Battle Arena playset (http://www.rebelscum.com/sagageoarena.asp)
- Deluxe C-3PO (http://www.rebelscum.com/sagadxc3po.asp)
- Padmé Amidala (Droid Factory Chase) (http://www.rebelscum.com/sw0304padmedfc.asp)
