Hi! New here, just wundering if anyone thinks that hasbro would rerealease the naboo royal starship and if it were rereleased what do you think would be similar/different about it compared to the old one? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I don't think that they'd release it again. The thing didn't sell the first time until it went on clearance.

I agree with Rayne, I don't think it will ever be re-released. I'd hate it if they did.

No need to release this, although it is an awesome vehicle.

Did I mention to anyone here that I had found one with all the parts, including the RED R2 at a garage sale for only $1?

Dang, that's insane! a dollar!

I do think they need to make Padme's ROTS ship, or at least the back end of it, with a ramp for Obi-Wan to stand at the top of, looking down at his former Padawan.

cmon now this is hasbro we're talking about. if they did re-release it it would be without any accessories or electronics, painted a wrong color, and priced about $20 more than the original. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thats why I don't want to see another one. It would also have some new battle damage marks or something like that to warrant collectors plopping down $90 because its a new vehicle. There would also probably be some variant, like the 3rd chair on the left is tan instead of white on half of them, so you gotta buy both http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The first one was enough and kind of ruined us getting other large ships IMO becasue it wasn't very exciting resulting in slow sales.

Are you kidding me??? This is one of the best playsets EVER!!!!! The Starship was written up by Toy Fare magazine as one of the best Star Wars toys ever a few yrs ago. There's almost everything in this thing I'm surprised it doesn't have a kitchen sink. Anywaze, if I were 8 or 9 I'd have so much I could do with this. It even includes a Droid fighter that you can dogfight with. It's a dang shame because it is relatively nicely scaled to the 3.75" line, has electronics in it and even includes one of the best sculpted Astromechs ever- seemingly everything we are whining for on these boards. Anywaze, I really believe had this sold well, we would have gotten a larger ship or playset especially during '02 and this past year which are movie years. <sigh>

I thought that this was a great vehicle/playset, but I didn't buy it, so I can totally understand why Hasbro doesn't do stuff like this anymore. Consumers have overwhelmingly proven time and time again, that they have no desire to pay more than about $40 for a vehicle. No more Shuttles, no more AT-ATs and no more Starships. It's a shame, but that's business.

I agree completely...as much as we might like stuff like this there's simply no support for it at the retail level. We, as collectors, can only go so far when it comes to supporting these releases...and quite a few of us won't support the expensive ones. There's no point in Hasbro putting things on the shelves that aren't going to sell, since that's only going to hurt the line as a whole and ultimately we the collectors.

A good example, the FAO/KB exclusive Imperial Shuttle they released during the Saga line wound up on sale and clearance several times because they couldn't move them all...despite the fact that many collectors had been screaming for one for a long time. It was high on my list of wants but still too pricey...I finally snatched one up from KB's website at a pretty ridiculous price compared to what FAO wanted for the originally.

Unless a ship is so iconic even non-fans recognize it instantly like the Falcon anything over the $30-40 price is going to have a serious problem moving off the shelves in today's toy market. Heck, even those OTC Falcons didn't move too quickly and are still on more than a few shelves...and I'm really surprised TRU went for another round of them.

Back to Queen's Starship in particular though...there's really no poin in re-releasing it anyway since pretty much any collector who wants one can find them at fairly reasonable prices on eBay if they really want to.

Wingsofcinder, you are the type of 'collector' who I have strong feelings against- I wish I knew what drives these types of people to complain about the lack of playsets and vehicles and yet when they do get produced they don't buy them. I understand about the rehashed molds but unless you got these in the vintage days and somehow kept them in mint shape so you would have no need for updated versions your types would be better off keeping your mouth shut and/or your fingers off the keybooard. Really, it is hard to tell what these new collectors really want these days.

Garage sales are great for vehicles. Next summer garage sales will be filled ROTS stuff.

Those are some strong words considering you and I have never even really discussed anything on here.

You'll have to point out when exactly I have ever complained about the lack of playsets and vehicles. I would invite you to also look at my older posts at TFN's boards over the past six years as well. You'd have a hard time finding any complaints like that because I've never made one.

I know full well that I personally can't always justify the high price tag that some vehicles would have...so even if I might like to see them, you won't see me complaining that they need to be made because it would be hypocritical of me to do so.

That's pretty much the exact opposite of "these types of people" you speak of. Particularly considering the fact that despite the fact that I don't insist that we need new vehicles I actually do buy one of just about every vehicle Hasbro produces so long as I can afford it at the time.

While I didn't grab the Shuttle until it was on clearance that was because it was originally released at a time that I couldn't justify the price. Aside from that there is only one vehicle I have passed on purely based on the original price and that was the re-released Jawa Sandcrawler. Other than that the only vehicles I have not bought at full retail price since POTJ were were either straight re-issues of what was already in my collection or repaints of larger vehicles that I don't have space to display...the CW & ROTS Gunships, OTC X-Wing & TIE Fighter, new post-ROTS TRU Falcon, and Saga TIE Bomber. Everything else Hasbro has released has a home in my collection, and in the case of Jedi Starfighters that includes one of every single repaint (except the green Anakin I never found, and Obi-Wan's AOTC Figher which I have three of).

I put my money where my mouth is...and my mouth always keeps my wallet in mind to make things that much easier.

All my post was doing was explaining the realities of retail and why, from Hasbro's standpoint, there is no money to be made in larger vehicles these days. In other words why we can't really expect to see any for quite some time.

I'd be getting this if they sell it at retail. But if they price it as an exclusive, i might pass(depending on my budget if and when they release this). I love this ship but it is too costly in ebay.

i swear on my whole collection that I got it for $1!

it was a month ago and I was out doing my garage sale runs. i was about to leave this one garage sale and I looked down at the end of the driveway and there it was......just siting there. I was with my son so I had him ask the woman. I kind of expected her to tell me she wanted at least $20 for it but to my my shock, she told my son...."ah....$2?" then another woman said "no....its $1." I told my son to grab it quikly and we left. I think its his favorite ship now. it also came with 4 other figures. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a178/DAVIANMASTER/100_0096.jpg

Nice score! I see you got the blurry variant http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I love it when I go to garage sales and they have cheap figures. I was looking through the classifieds section in the newspaper five or so years ago and saw a garage sale that had in big letters STAR WARS FIGURES! So of course I went. Turns out it was a scalper garage sale; he had dozens of each red card for around $30 and loose C-5 vintage figures for $40. I promptly walked away.

I'd rather see Padmes craft she uses to go to Mustafar or to Geonosis. It's smaller and doesn't have wings so it stands more of a chance if Hasbro wanted to make more vehicles.

If any large scale vehicle is going to be re-released it HAS to be the AT-AT!

You can't go to places advertising SW. You have to find the people that don't have any idea what they have. The figures and vehicles are just mixed in with a bunch of other assorted toys. You might not be able to get complete stuff, but I have found lots of "army builders", and a few vehicles that way.

I know, but are you telling me you wouldn't be interested in going to a garage sale that said STAR WARS FIGURES in big letters? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif It was only a mile or two away anyway. All good things come to those who wait, because the year after that my mom picked up for me a big box of figures she got at a garage sale, in which was the Han with Taun Taun. The guy apparently had a lot more stuff to sell, so he wrote his phone # on the box and I went back the next week and bought almost his whole collection, including doubles of almost all the HTF Ep1 figures for $1 and the Royal Starship for $20. I told him how much the stuff was worth, but he said he wanted to get rid of the stuff to make room and wanted it to go to someone who would enjoy it. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif
