How many of ou would like to see a expanded univeres wave in the 2006 saga collection line?I personaly would love to see a Yuzen Vong figure.Anyone?

BobaFett

Yes, a EU wave is very much needed. They should make a group of those figures.

Asharad_Hett
10-08-2005, 11:51 PM
Yep. I'd like a A'Sharad Hett and Sharad Hett figures. Quinlin Vos, Tholme, the Dark Woman, and T'ra Saa would also be nice. Not to forget a Jorgus C'Boath, Kir Kanos, Guri, Delta Squad, and Coran Horn.

WatTombor
10-08-2005, 11:56 PM
I also think a A'Sharaad Hett figure would be cool. But we could really use a new Kyle Katan,I mean it is a ok fig but the legs are to bulky.

Ditto to everything mentioned here so far...plus the awesome Sith Witch from TPM concept art.
I'd love to see a new EU line. Despite the whole 'Canon vs Non-canon debate, EU has come a long way since the late 90's. The entire Clone Wars project made the line between EU and Canon that much thinner too

Zombie_F_Body

An SA Mara Jade would be cool.

Jonny_Rotten
10-09-2005, 07:22 AM
I'd really like them to revisit the Dark Trooper and Spacetrooper. I think a SA Darktrooper,if they ever made one, would easily bee the best figure of all time. especially if they make him big and bulky like the last one. I think however that EU clones are what we'll more than likely see. I'm happy with that too mind you. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

These are all great ideas you guys have, and I agree with all of them stated so far.I really want hasbro to make a Uzan Vong fig and here is a cool site that has customs of Uzen Vong figs.Check it out http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I would like a

KORTO wave, a Republic comics wave, a Jedi Outcast wave, a Thrawn wave, and a Yuzzah Vong (SP?) wave.

BobaFett

I think a Jodo Kast would be good. Maybe a slave II vehicle.

10-09-2005, 05:31 PM
Nah. I'd rather that Hasbro spent their time on film related merchandise.

IMO, Hasbro has already delved too much into the EU with the release of the black Clone pilot and Stealth Trooper.

How about Hasbro keeps their Stealth Trooper and gives us a Commander Cody!

There are still tonnes of characters to be made that have had actual screen time! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yodajedi

They should definitely do some Republic Comic figures. And an SA Mara and Thrawn would be nice too.

Didn't someone mention Republic Commando figures back at comic con?

Zombie_F_Body

I think back in the late 90s Hasbro was more willing to make them because everything was new and the molds had to be created. From that point of view there was as much opportunity cost to create an EU fig as there was a film one. This might explan why there hasn't been a big EU push since the POTF2 days.

Now, Hasbro just want to keep re-hashing old figs which is way cheaper than making a fresh one from scratch. So when it comes to new figures I think Hasbro would rather bank on things they know will sell accross the consumer spectrum. EU characters only appeal to a certain segment of fans, such as ourselves.

So unless it's a matter of putting an alternate paint scheme on a clone or something, I don't think we'll see any more EU for a long while.

yes it is more likly that people would buy the figures that are more familar to them. Everyone has seen the movies but the EU is'nt as common.

Only if it included a couple of these:
New Thrawn (duh!)
Spacetrooper (SA)
Darktrooper (SA)
Mara Jade (new sculpt)
Republic Commando trooper SA
Kir Kanos (kitbash if they must)
and how cool would a modern Vlix be? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

JediKnutt
10-10-2005, 01:10 PM
Kir Kanos would probably be the easiest to do. ROTS Senate guard and you're 90% there. Just need a head and double bladed weapon. I think EU toys will depend on how the new live action show does. They could make almost as many figures from the EU as they have the regular line, including EU versions of the major players. Love to see more of the EU toys. Bring em on! Already spent my child's college fund....MAKE MORE HASBRO, I'M READY FOR YA!

Zombie_F_Body
10-10-2005, 01:29 PM
With all the obscure aliens, senators and background creatures being made available for ROTS that are selling well, you'd think that EU characters would do equally as well. If I was a kid and saw an SA Jade or Kir Kanos on the pegs I'd think cool and buy it even if I had no idea who those characters were. I can't really see a 6 year-old going, he/she wasn't in the movie, I don't want that.

I think the only people making the distinction is Hasbro. Too bad the bean counters really decide what figures we get.

I don't think Expanded Universe figures would sell very well. The POTF2 limited set sold decently but they were very hard to find. I think if Expanded figures were produced on the same level as the usual bunch, we'd be seeing a flood of peg warmers, much like we're seeing now with Unleashed Ventress.

EDIT: BTW, for every 10 of those you see, I've seen twenty. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

That may have to do with the $15 price. Many of the 2003 Clone Wars figures were tough to find. I think that if they made basic figures at the regular price, they would sell better than a $15 figure.

WatTombor

Yeagh those are also cloging the pegs in my area. But I only ment expanded universe basic figures.

Rocket_Back
10-10-2005, 09:06 PM
I wouldn't mind seeing some but they need to take it slow and really introduce the more casual fans to these characters in new ways first. I think once the tv shows get rolling, we'll see more. Just look at the 1985 Droids/Ewoks lines. If the new lines from the shows are a success(like Clone Wars), then I think the doors will open for comic and novel inspired figs.

I'm not a big EU fan, but I have an idea for a wave that would have appeal for Eu lovers and movie-only fans. In essence mix a wave up between cut-scene figures, McQuarrie concepts, army builders and book/comic/cartoon figures. For instance a wave could be:

Biggs Academy from the ANH cut scene
Vader McQuarrie concept w/ base to attach with Luke
Luke Mcquarrie concept w/ base to attach with Vader
Battlefront army builder
Snow bunny Padme from Clone Wars
Mara Jade

I don't pay attention to much EU so you all might have better choices. Frankly I would pass on some EU items, but mixing it up like this would keep me somewhat interested.

Rocket_Back

I would love to see Biggs in his academy uniform. I always thought he should have been made.

WatTombor

Yeah a Biggs figure would be cool. But another cool figure would be one of those under water clones that goes with Kit Fisto on Mon Calamari in that clone wars episode.

JediKnutt
10-10-2005, 09:36 PM
By 2018 I think they will have milked the SW cash cow dry. Eventually we will get every conceivable figure possible, but we'll have to buy a lot of useless crap to get it.

If they made one it would probobley be an animated clone.

While that's most likely, they DID do A) Jetpack Trooper based more on Concept Art than anything else (for the pack, anyway) and more importantly B) Clone Wars Kit Fisto is based on the animated shirtless version, but in the style of the regular figures.

It's his existence that keeps my hopes up for a Seatrooper, a Quarren warrior, and a Mon Calamari warrior someday http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Star Wars is way to big, we'll never get every single character on screen plus EU. Espicially at this rate when Hasbro is reissuing older figures again with a couple new figures.

Toonimator

I'd rather have some big important EU characters (cool looking ones, anyway) than every last extra from Mos Espa, however. That's not to say there aren't a bunch of extras I'd love to see as much as more Cantina or Jabba's Palace patrons (like the mean-lookin Niktos from the refugee ship, I think it was), but getting a great Grand Admiral Thrawn, Joruus C'baoth, Noghri, Sith Trooper, Carth Onasi, Mandalorian Warrior, Mission Vao, Zaalbar, Jolee Bindo, Kreia, Darth Nihilus, Darth Malak, Darth Revan, Atris, HK-47, Kyle Katarn, Jan Ors, Yuuzhan Vong warrior, Kyp Durron, Baron Fel, Tycho Celchu, Corran Horn, Wedge in non-pilot gear, Winter, Talon Karrde, Jedi Jacen, "Traitor" Jacen, Pilot Jaina, Jedi Jaina, Jedi Anakin (Solo), Jedi Master Luke, Jedi Master Mara Jade, Chief of State Leia, NJO Han Solo, and many more, would make me a lot happier http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Even just random EU-ish characters, like those in the Miniatures game, "troops" of sorts, spies & mercs & slavers of various species. Army-builder collectors would die of joy, customizers would flip, kids would have "red shirts" besides clones & a couple identical Rebel troops or Naboo guards to kill off in their play, and all would be wonderful. It'd be better than having Warwick Davis' creepy Podrace-fan warming pegs for a few months.

JeedaiProphet

NJO-era (or Dark Nest) Solo Kids, Tenal Ka, Tahiri, Alema Rar, Lowbacca, Mara, Luke, etc...

I'm a picky collector these days, and my budget is usually slim to none, but if Hasbro did a NJO series or something similar, I would start saving...

One fan choice poll a year really isn't going to get everyones favourite characters made, way to many http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/frown.gif . Fingers crossed though that the majority of them are made at some point. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

CaptainJack

We're never going to see "everybody's" favorites get made. Hasbro will only be willing to invest in an EU wave if they have a very popular EU franchise. The POFT2 EU wave was produced in very low quantities because Hasbro was nervous about the idea. SOTE had a big multi-front marketing push by Lucasfilm. Clone Wars had a close enough movie connection, that they thought they would do well- and they still had low prduction. Unless we see some really popular multi-media EU stuff, I doubt we'll see a whole line. Maybe a few low-run figures here and there.

Well I personally would love to see an EU line simply because I missed out on all the others, I was born in 91' you see. So I think it would be dandy to see re-sculpted versions of all the previously released figures plus the ones from the upcoming TV show.

I would love it if Hasbro designed a whole line called "SW extras" - a series of figures based on all the extras and background players in the SW universe. Another line could be called "SW Concepts" - this line showcasing figures based on all the unused conceptual designs in SW. I reckon there is enough material out there for some fantastic new figures. The Cantina scenes from ANH alone would yield some fantastic new figures.

Based on Hasbro's last two EU endeavors, it looks like they will only make a whole EU wave/set when there's an EU media blitz (Shadows of the Empire and Clone Wars were the only two EU multimedia blitzes). Next EU media blitz, next EU figure wave.

Hi Glitch,

What 3 3/4 scale EU figures have you seen peg warming? The only ones I can recall that did any sitting were the old SOTE figures, and they wern't that great.

If they put out a few here and there, or even made a wave of the most popular ones, I really doubt they would sit long.

But that's just my opinion...

I'd like to see a few, though nothing from the whole "New Jedi Order" storyline. I'd rather see early concepts (McQuarrie versions, SA Spacetrooper, etc..), more Clone Wars, and figures from the earliest books (Heir To The Empire, Courtship of Princess Leia etc..). I'd really like figures of Teneniel Djo, Winter, and Jaina Solo, and Rouron Corobb(sp?).

A Jaina/Jacen and Anakin Solo 3pack would be shweet.

Sora Bulq IS coming, based on his movie appearance of course. So long as he's on a decent Jedi body (pretty much any ROTS Jedi figure except the Basic released Mace Windu, Anakins or either action-feature Obi-Wans) he'll probably fly off pegs for being a background movie character AND having a sizable role in the comics as a fallen Jedi. Unless, of course, they just stick POTF2 Weequay's head on the Saga Nikto Jedi body http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The basic Clone Wars Asajj Ventress (and the animated version, too) never hung around very long. The Unleashed figure's pricey, and probably shipped in equal amounts as the Vader & Sidious/Yoda, both of which are much more widely popular and scalp-worthy.
