Let's face it, it looks like half of every Saga wave could be re-packs. What are your views? I know there are a lot of you out there who hate re-packs with a passion, but I think that they are a good idea, depending on the figure. Repacks are good for those who are new to the hobby and missed out on the earlier characters and also provide the opportunity to army build when applicable, yet annoying to those who already have the character. Which camp do you fall under and why? Feel free to post all your pro's and cons.

It depends. If they repack Cantina Han or ANL Leia, I will not be happy. But if they repack the McQuarrie Stormtrooper or Durge, that's fine. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I say that for me, it depends on the figure being rehashed. I'd love to see Ree-Yees get a new paint job and a new card. Hasbro has gone way overboard with some of the repacks. Repack one time, and let it go! POTF2 New Likeness Leia got recarded three times (four, sort of, if the SDCC Holo Leia is based on it) and that is just too many.

I, personally, am new to collecting and am very happy with the repacks coming. I wish I could have started with the Original Trilogy Collection, but I'll just have to await some main characters like Luke or Leia. Granted, I can understand why those who have been collecting for a considerable amount of would be angered with repacks, and I'm sorry that you all won't be able to get as many new figures. However, one must realize that there will always be new Star Wars collectors, and Hasbro would be wise to keep repacking main characters.

Add the first Asajj and Arc Troopers and I will be pleased. Non-clones are not really welcom though.

Honestly, if the figures that they chose rocked, I would love re-packeges. But the figures that are re-packaged are usually the gayest ones. You know? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I only get new figures, unless it's a good-looking repaint (the only OTC figz I got that were repacks were Greedo, Gamorrean Guard and a bunch of Jawas http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/laugh.gif).

I'd love nothing but new figures (since there are still so many possibilities), but I understand the repack way of thinking. It's like Kenner did in the old days, each new assortment also contained rereleases. To me as a kid it seemed like the figures were almost all available all the time.

Now if it ever gets to the point where it's nothing but repacks...

I don't mind repacks, as long as the newly sculpted figures aren't hard to come by. I picked up a few repacks/repaints the last time with OTC(Jawas, Tusken Raiders, Tie Fighter Pilots and Stormtroopers).

repacks are ok, it gives some collectors who missed nice figures the fisrt time around to pick them up

True, in the end I'll probably end up buying them anyway but I don't mind if the figure is needed or has a better paint application then the last time it was released.

Well, if these are repacks/repaints intended to be part of a cost-saving measure to help finance new sculpts and molds, I think Hasbro should utilize that approach to the best of their ability...like a certain improved R5 astromech and a reissued Bespin flying vehicle that certainly needs some attention. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Personally I hate repacks unless they are army builders. Since I started collecting in '95 I have all the figures that are being re-released. I would rather see a character who has never had a figurine before then a repacked figure. If we are getting 50% repacks in 2006 its gonna take us even longer to see certain characters finally get a figurine. Sure it may be nice for new collectors but thats what ebays for. If they're noticable kit bashed, repaints I'll buy them but not straight out repacks.

repacks have been with us since SW figures first started. As long as they're practical figures (General Madine, Lando Skiff, etc.) good sculpted figures that dont really need an update, then sure, b/c I missed some of those. Even if they repack VOTC figures I think Id be happy, seeing as I dont have to pay 10 bucks for one. As long as in a case of 12 we get 3-4 new sculpted figures, I think well be ok. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif
