I saw the Fett pics from Comic Con... looks pretty sweet. What does everyone else think?

They look nice, but not at 14.99 a piece.

yea...cool figure...but not worth $15!

$5 more I can get a die cast Xwing....thats what I want!

not a $15 3,3/4" metal figure....it probably won't even be hard to find for that price!

for $15 I sure hope it comes with some neat trinkets or a display stand.

i don't understand why they it calls them "forged"???
are they like bootlegs or something?? i didn't think wal-mart would carry bootleg merchandise, even though Kathy Lee Gifford's clothes line was made in Filipino sweat shops.
this whole thing seems weird to me. i'm gonna have to pass on these.

DarthTyrannus
07-15-2005, 01:44 AM
things are called forged when theyre made in the fire/oven esque things, like swords...

lando_kabob
07-15-2005, 01:47 AM
wait are you saying that these come all come with swords?? that doesnt make sense cause i saw one today that was a boba fett and he doesnt carry a lightsaber. nice try, tho.

Ouch! I must've missed the $15 price tag. I'll have to see them in person before I decide if they're cool enough for that price.

Jedieb
07-15-2005, 07:35 AM
$9.99 is the best price point for these. I'm going to be pretty selective with these if they're $15. i doubt I'll pick up the Fett.

Are these going to have any moving parts? It doesn't look like it, but I think that would be cool.

DarthMaulSithLord

Not interested in this line at all.

At one point i was interested in the Action Fleet line, but i quit after the ships were dumbed and sized down and they reduced and finally took away the minifigs.

Luckily i only have 6 of them. If they didn't pull this BS, i probably would've bought way more.

I might be interessted in one or two peices if that's all they make. I'm taking the wait and see aproach before I can make an opinion on the line.

The_Mike

Wow, I missed the $15 price point too. I will definitely pick and choose with this line if any at all. In theory this might have been a good idea but it don't see this line lasting that long...

Here's what I find interesting. Straight from today's SDCC edition of Question Mark:

</font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font>
1
Is Hasbro in fact changing the Unleashed line, and if so why such a drastic change in size? Is there any chance we’ll see some ‘special’ old style 7” figures released for fans of that scale?

A
change is coming for a number of reasons, some having to do with price point issues at retail, more will be revealed as Hasbro outlines their plans for 2006 during Friday’s panel. While there are no plans for more 7” Unleashed figures beyond what’s been announced, Hasbro would not rule out the possibility of more at some point in the future.

[/QUOTE]

If the 7" Unleashed line is being pulled because of price point, how can they justify replacing it with a $15 die-cast Titanium series figure at 3.75" scale? Are those cheaper to produce than the plastic 7" figs?

I'm sure that the lack of support from Wal-Mart had a hand in the demise of Unleashed, but Target, TRU and K-Mart still seemed to be supporting it.

Since WM has the Titanium series now, and a 3.75" figure, if boxed, can be shoved into shelf space below the figure pegs they might like it better. But that's a pretty terrible reason to drop a pretty successful line like Unleashed.

It all just sounds like a lot of smoke and mirrors...

It better come with the Boba Fett Unleashed
&lt;&lt;
&gt;&gt;

maybe, possibly a 2 inch boba fett unleashed

but don't count on it....think about it...this is the same price point as the unleashed...and hasbro thinks its too much?

I'd rather have a 7" unleashed for $15 then these tiny die cast figures!

Habs98
07-15-2005, 11:46 AM
I think they are pretty cool looking. But to take over the Unleashed is just absurd, especially at $15.

I'm in love with all of the titaniums, so i'll be buying everything: forged, ultra, minis, worlds, etc.

Mattdude
10-13-2005, 10:08 PM
Yeah I think this thing looks pretty nice. The $15 price doesn't seem that unreasonable to me. People are willing to pay that for the exclusive Target figures, so why not for a nicely sculpted, die-cast metal figure? Plus, today's Question Mark (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Question_Mark_186_95246.asp) suggest that the figures will have some articulation. Before now I assumed they were basically statues.

-Matt

Slambo
10-13-2005, 10:43 PM
from what i've deduced, the ones slated for production are the ones that have been made unleashed, so I've assumed they'll be 3.75" metal unleashed figures, which will gain my undying love.

Victor_Von_Doom

$15? Things made of metal may have been the "hip" thing in the 5th century, but not anymore. Pass.

Slambo
10-13-2005, 11:10 PM
Well the blending of my two favorite lines (unleashed and titanium) is worth $15. I'd even pay 20 (5 for the titanium, 15 for the unleashed).

According to this page (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Hasbro%E2%80%99s_Plans_For_2006_95310.asp) it looks like we should be getting:

Darth Vader
Boba Fett (w/ removable helmet)
Bossk
Sandtrooper
IG-88
Clone Trooper
BG Cylon Warrior
General Grievous
C-3PO

I guess we'll be able to pit General Grievous vs. a BG Cylon http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hmmm...will have to see larger pics or see them in person before I pass judgement but so far I like what I see. I was expecting them to be a solid metallic color for some reason, kind of like diecast versions of the silver Vader, Boba Fett, R2, etc, not painted like this. Definitely more interested in them now that I see these pics.

Rebelscum posted awhile back we'd see normal like versions like this and a solid metallic colour that'll be more limited or the like. So it's going to cost twice as much if you want both variations.

Wowzers! Darth Vader looks fantastic in that packaging so much so I want this to be the standard packaging for figures! I'll buy both and any further releases and possibly any variations if we get any http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Overall the Fett and Vader actually turned out to look pretty good. I'm happy to see Grievous on the list along with IG-88 and C-3PO. Three figures that could be cool and fit in a die-cast line.

I'm really hoping Grievous is nice because I still don't like any version that came out in 2005.

Because they are. They aren't super-articulated, but they seem to have as many joints (if not more) as any Vintage figure ever did.

Looks like I'll finally have an IG-88 that can hold his guns!
I think I'll definitely be picking up IG-88 and C-3P0 as they are droids and lend themselves to this format. Seriously, these two may be the definitive versions of these figures as long as they have 5-6 pts of articulation and are in 'vanilla' poses.
The Greivous may look pretty awesome in this format as well. Droids + titanium is a winning combination. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i wont be drooling over them. i'll laugh at them. a Vader who can't pose is a Vader not worth the money. same goes for Boba Fett. no matter WHAT they made the figures out of. i still can't get over how it says "poseable" yet the figure only has as many joints as the old vintage figures had. and those can no longer be considered "poseable". expectations are up now, if there are no bending elbows, bending knees, or ball jointed shoulders, the figure isn't poseable.

What the heck does a "patina finish" look like?

Patina is the kind of greenish corrosion that may show up on older metals, due to oxidization. If you look at, for instance, antique brass pots, they will often have kind of a weird teal finish. Patina can also be brownish, but I've mostly seen green. You can google it on the web if you want more info.
I don't know how this is going to look on these figures. And I wonder how Hasbro is going to achieve the patina. I once read an article about Civil War reenactors who soak the brass buttons of their uniforms in their own urine in order to artificially create patina. Maybe it's best to be safe and not smell these figures too closely when they come out of the box.

It's hard to tell with these if they will be HTF or not. I mean that the Action Masters metal figs and vehicles were easy to find...but they weren't in the 3 3/4" scale either. And the size may just make them much more popular, at least that's MHO http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif Does anybody know if WM is going to sell these?

ok, here is my problem. i'm a 3 3/4" loose completist collector. who here would count these as part of the normal line? i'm begining to lean towards the idea that they are because they do have removable helmets and some articulation. i do like the the looks of them but the price tag is a little much. i almost wish they were just statues so i wouldn't have to make a decision. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I see my valid topic got locked down because of other's tomfoolery. It was my moment in the sun, claiming dibs on the new IG-88 after pesting Hasbro for 2 years. It is my voice that has caused a revolution, one that Lucas and the toy people are taking note of. With the Unleashed IG88, IG Lancer Army, and now the Titanium IG-88, it is clear that with the fall from grace of Boba Fett that Hasbro is relying on IG-88 to keep interest in a slowly dying franchise.

Ooooh, I'm afraid my talking IG-88 doll will be quite operational when your responses arrive.......

2x Vader
2x Boba

1 Vader and 1 Fett have "normal" paint jobs. The other, each are "raw" metal, and have a sticker on the package that says something like "LIMITED VINTAGE STYLE".

These are due out the week of 3/5/06 at Target's.

These rang up as $14.88 at my local Wal-Mart in Las Vegas. 4 per case. No exclusive silver colored figure in this case. I will be opening them shortly...

http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/1576/bald5ps.jpg

Notice his eyebrows are painted?

http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/3272/apart4kc.jpg

When you take Vader out of the package, he is sporting a dew rag which is just a thing piece of plastic covering his face.

http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/8496/dewrag6sa.jpg

http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/5853/titaniuminstructions5ru.jpg

The figure is great except his arms and legs should be painted black fully, and not be just a black wash over. That way the metal parts on him would really stand out. So, my recommendation is to get some paint and paint his suit black and gloss black for his boots and gloves.

http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/1852/mvc750f5lr.jpg

And now we get into Boba Fett!

http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/3867/fett1gc.jpg

As you can see, he too comes with a spiffy dew-rag!

http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/962/dewragfett3xs.jpg

The best part of this figure, aside from having a removable helmet, is that his blaster rifle is die cast as well! Arooha! The sucky thing about him, is his cape is metal, his view finder doesn't move and his jet pack is non-removable. But I sure dig that blaster!

Here's some real bull-- regarding this line.

Hasbro's MSRP price point on SW Titanium figures is $14.99 while their upcoming Transformers 3" line is MSRP priced at $4.99 and the TF 6" Titanium line is at $14.99.

Yes again Hasbro serves it up real cold and stale for SW fans/collectors.

Sure I fully understand that TF is their own property and no license fees are paid but c'mon you are telling me that the fees on this line are tha high? Better give that sheep back his wool because it's got no use here...

I'm not one of these people that is continuously posting about the price hike in figures- I think I'm a bit smart enough to know the reasoning for that. Though I can't get how drastic a jump in pricing for figures near the size, mad of the same material is that far off in price difference. We're not talking a few dollars... hell we're not even talking $5 dollars... we're looking at a near $10 price differential.

Thanks Hasbro I'm wondering if when I open the Titanium figures if you included a small KY trial size? http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Wow, I never knew about that. I'm not going to get too much into SW Titanium 3.75" figures, but that's understandable. Although, I think the TF Titanium 3" is supposed to be like the SW Titanium vehicles, with only a small base. SW 3.75" have a better sculpt, accessories, base, cover, and extra packaging.

Got all 4 of mine this week. I have to say that in comparison to the next wave of VOTC due out next month(?) at $12.99, paying 2 bucks more for a die-cast figure in a case, posed, with some kind of scene going on(you know, Vader appearing to be standing on a platform) seems to be worth the money more than the VOTC. At least to me. I feel like I got my money's worth with a display type of product, rather than some figure in a protector with a vintage looking cardback simply because it evokes "memories" of figures we used to buy back in the day, which are honestly no-where near it. Kenner ruled.

Is anyone else noticing how dinged up these things are shipping? I would say 90% of the ones on the shelves have that same top-center dent.

I only wanted 1 Vader to keep MIP, and I had to hit a couple stores to find one, not because they didn't have it, but to find one in acceptable condition.

These figures suck on the basis alone that parts of each figure fall off inside the sealed plastic case once you have them opened up and on display. Boba Fett can't hold his gun and Vader's helmet flops off with too much ease. I don't want to have to unscrew the cases everytime one of my jack*** friends picks these things up. For $15, this is crap. I feel like returning mine... argh.

Blight
03-12-2006, 01:53 PM
I'm feeling a tad left down for $15. I bought Boba Fett. Sure he looks nice and everything...but $15? The paint on my Fett's left shoulder is dark green and splotchy and contrasts the rest of him. Also, the neck on the box is black and jumpsuited but in person it's just generic. The wrists seem like it wouldn't take much to pop them off either. I just feel like I should've gotten a better quality figure.

I noticed the same thing, but I think it's the stockers/customers, not the shipping. The natural place to pick it up is at the top, and that's the weakest area. When I got mine (@ Target) I accidently crushed the first one I picked up, not realizing how thin the plastic was. So I put it down and grabbed another holding it by the sides and made sure the cashier did too. I wish Target had self checkout!!

For more clarification, the Statue of Liberty has a "patina" finish.

Anyways, i'll be getting the vinatage no paint style Titanium Fett at first sight.

interesting story about these figures. the two local targets i frequent both had shelf tags for these figs but had no sign of these being stocked. i punched in the dpci# on the price scanner and both times they showed as being in the stockroom. i had an associate bring out a case and each time it was the breakdown of 2x each of the regular versions. both times after i looked through the cases i went back and punched in the dpci# and it still showed as having more in the stockroom. both times i asked the associate to check for more and they came out with a case of the 1 each of the regular and silver vintage finish versions. so in my area it looks like target is getting two cases each but only one with the one each of the silver vintage finish.
