Possibly to scale with Hasbro figures? At least close - wouldn't that be cool....and very expensive... http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/shocked.gif http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I had the exact same reactions upon seeing that. If the scale is anywhere near compatible, this would make a beautiful display for the VOTC figures.

Although, may I suggest this thread properly belongs in the custom diorama section?

Actually, if Attakus is going to be selling these, wouldn't it belong in "Other Collectibles"? Just my opinion ... http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Space is always an issue for me now with 1500+ loose figures... but price is my main concern...

Where in gods name would you put it, in your back yard?

It looks like it would fit nicely one one of those heavy duty shelving units you can buy at Lowes.

The official site just posted a few more images (http://www.starwars.com/collecting/news/misc/news20050516.html) . Pretty cool, but it is metal, so I'll bet it's going to cost an arm and a leg.

Why the hell would you make something that big out of METAL?!

I guess they only want to sell 500, instead of 500,000. Good business decision there, guys...

I guess where ever you decide to put it, its gonna stay for a long time. Any time you wanna move it, you're gonna have to call over some friends and bribe them with beer, kinda like when you move into a new apt.

No, no, no, no, no! The Attakus figures that go with these are metal (Pewter, in fact)! The dioramas, scaled to about the size of Hasbro's 3 3/4" figure line, will be constructed of resin and include highly-detailed painted pewter figures to display with them. You've done well, Lord Cziraky. And now I sense you wish to continue your search for more factoids. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the update, Dan!

From the English translation of a French Rebelscum interview:

"Q4) How will be sold the figurines of the Metal Collection ?
A4) The diorama will be sold in two parts : the Millenium [sic] Falcon and the Death Star Hallway. The characters will be sold individually except Luke and Han stormtroopers. One will be sold with the Falcon and the other with the Hallway. The choice is not yet approved by Lucasfilm."

I was already impressed enough by these to be considering purchasing the dioramas if not the pewter figurines... but once I saw that the half-Falcon also works as an INTERIOR, I wanted it more than ever.

Also, be sure to check out the pics of the DAGOBAH diorama at that link at the official site as well.

I must have this! The Death Star and Dagobah are fantastic and what I have been dreaming of for years now! I wonder if the falcon cockpit will be accessable!?! - Hopefully the price point will be obtainable. Thank goodness they are breaking down the sets as seperate pieces!! Cna you imagine what might come next if these are a big hit??...Carbon Freeze Chamber, Jedi Council Room, Hoth Base....MY GOD!!! http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had this feeling when I was younger (about 12) when the USS FLAGG Aircraft Carrier came out for GIJOE. http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif Much more expensive this time for sure..... http://threads.rebelscum.com/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the clarification, but I'm still convinced that these things are going to cost and arm and a leg.

If the rest of it isn't metal, that could cut the price in half, right? If these "playset-dioramas" are under $200.00, I'm in.

Shipping is going to be the killer, because even made out of resin, these things are going to weigh a ton! Better start saving for those floor bracing kits, too!

I've seen the death star hall part of it with a SRP of $400 -- I believe the bulk of the sticker price is in the Falcon. (They can be bought separately).

I have seen these together with Hasbro's and they are JUST out of scale. Not grossly out of scale, but just enough where it doesnt look right and certainly is not worth the money if that is how you plan to use them. Things like when you sit them in one of the seats their feet dangle above the ground. It is more in scale with Mattel's Justice League than Star Wars. WHich sucks for Attakus becasue I am sure there are a few Hasbro collectors who would have paid the price to have the ultimate diorama to display their figures in...

in one of the insiders it had R2 listed at 2.5 inches and Vader at 4 inches.. the prices are $2589 for the Falcon and $825 for the Hallway or both for $3200
