View Full Version : What are your favorite scenes???

Some of mine would include Luke and Vader dueling on Bespin, in the Emperors Throne Room, the Mos Eisley Cantina, and the Sarlacc Battle. Well, share some of your thoughts and memories with the board.

Hmmmm, good question! Here are mine:

ANH: Obviously, the opening sequence of the Star Destroyer overtaking the Blockade Runner. I don't care how many times I watch it, it STILL looks amazing.
- The Falcon blasting out of Mos Eisley. I loved the original, but I think the SE addition was one of the few that actually made the scene a little better.
- Of course, the climactic build-up to the destruction of the Death Star. The trench, the music, the Falcon coming to the rescue. Good stuff.

ESB: Boy, there are a lot.
- Vader "demoting" Admiral Ozzel and promoting Piett.
- Vader's contact with the Emperor, a chilling discussion.
- The snow battle, arguably the best battle in ANY of the SW movies.
- The bounty hunter scene (duh).
- Slave I following the Falcon after the Star Destroyer trash dump.
- The banquet room scene, one of the best scenes in all of SW lore.
- The end of the lightsaber battle on the gantry.
- Possibly my favorite sequence, when the Falcon rescues Luke from the bottom of Cloud City.

ROTJ: My least favorite movie from the original trilogy, but still some great moments:

- Luke taking on ALL of Jabba's goons on the sailbarge (minus Fett's idiotic demise).
- The speederbike chase.
- Wedge and Lando reaching the core of DS II.

I'm sure I'll think of more, but those are the (many) ones that come to mind.

My two favorite moments are heads and shoulders above the rest:

One: The Battle of Hoth. The Snow Walker attack was an eighth grader's dream (not counting Susan Jackson from the eighth grade in her cheerleader's uniform.)

Two: Darth Vader watching the Emperor electrocute Luke, looking back and forth trying to decide what to do. It was the only time I remember talking to the screen to a character, urging Vader to "do it."

That Vader / Emperor scene would make a great Nike commercial....JUST DO IT!!!!! I enjoyed the speeder bikes, the sarlac pit, the Bespin duel, and both Death Star destructions!!

My favorite scenes of all SW movies are the Luke/Vader duel in the Emperorīs throne room and the Second Death Starīs battle, lots and lots of ships shooting each other. http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

From ANH - Obi-Wan vs Darth Vader, yeah its slower, but Alec Guiness holds his own and gives such a nobility even in death, that his is the mark by which all other Jedi are judged.

From ESB - The Gantry part of the duel. From the moment Vader attacks out of nowhere to his horrific revelation, few scenes in any film carry as much weight!!!

From ROTJ - Vader comes through! Talk about being on the edge of your seat! With that much tension, its no wonder we got Ewoks thrown in, just to lighten things up. I never thought I'd be rooting for Vader! Never in a million years! I cheered when he picked up Palpy and tossed him!!!

I have a bad feeling about this...

my all time favourite scene has always been the shot in ANH when luke is staring up at the twin suns and THAT music is playing.

A close second would be the death star attack in ROTJ when all the tie fighters appear.......superb!

The binary sunset has a mood about it....where as that shot of all the TF wizzing by the Falcon....I have that poster still......great stuff!!!!!

Star Wars

-The Star Destroyer flying overhead after the Tantive IV. To see that on the big screen is AWESOME.

-When Luke stares up at the suns. Perfectly illustrates how each and everyone of us have had the desire at some point in time to leave our loved ones and see what destiny has in store for us. He's looking at the suns and you can tell he's yearning for more than a farmer's life.

-Mos Eisley. The Special Edition made an already great scene even better. All of the ships flying around and the many aliens contributed to an already classic scene in movie history.

-The trash compactor.Very suspenseful scene plus the shootout before they get into the compactor is great.

-Vader and Ben's duel. Ben fights pretty good for an old guy but we're also shown to how evil Vader can be. Cutting down his old master who was once a good friend of his is pretty nasty.

-The TIE Fighter attack.Everytime I see this part, the action and music really pump me up.

-The Battle of Yavin. It looks awesome in the Special Edition. More realistic than ever plus the very end right when Vader is on Luke's tail is well paced and suspenseful.

-The award ceremony-Great music plus I just really like the scene.

The Empire Strikes Back

-Vader showing how he will not tolerate failure by making Ozzel an example.

-Battle of Hoth. Excellent battle.

-The Asteroid Chase.Need I explain?

-Yoda raising Luke's X-Wing out of the swamp. This scene illustrates a good message: No matter your size, always believe in yourself and you'll accomplish whatever you want. Luke didn't beleive in himself that he could raise the X-Wing but Yoda did believe in himself and well....you know the rest http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

-Cloud City. Yet again, the Special Edition shines through. We see more views of the city and the shot of all the different citizens stopping and listening to Lando's warning at the end was pretty cool too.

-Luke and Vader's duel. Exciting fight plus the "I am your father." line is a classic.

-The Falcon flying under the clouds and rocketing back towards Cloud City. For some reason, I've always loved that shot.

Return of The Jedi(my favorite SW film)

-"The Emperor is not forgiving as I am." Right away, we know the Emperor is a total ******.

-Luke's battle with the Rancor. Hideous beast that looks like it will hand Luke's *** to him but in the end, size matters not http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

-Battle at the Sarlacc pit. Great fights, exciting action, all in all one of the best scenes in the whole Saga.

-The Speeder Bike chase. Pure adrenaline rush.

-Luke explaining everything to Leia. Everything changes for these two from here on out. Leia knows more than she bargained for and Luke knows that his relationship with Leia will never be the same.

-Battle of Endor-Easily one of the greatest battles in the history of cinema. Definitely my favorite battle in the Saga. Seeing the TIEs fly straight into the battle from the POV of the Falcon's cockpit was awesome.

-Vader taunting Luke. Very dramatic because Luke wants to turn Vader to the good side but when he snaps at Vader for wanting to turn Leia into an agent of evil, Luke loses it, he could care less about his father at that point, and we're treated to a climactic duel. The scene where Luke looks at his prosthetic hand after he brings Vader to his knees indicates how things have come full circle. First, Vader cut off his son's hand and defeated his son in battle and now, Luke has cut off his father's hand and defeated his father in battle.

-Vader throwing Palpatine into the reactor. Vader's turning point and it shows how he'll give his life for his son.

-The superstructure chase. Totally ******. Very few movies can entertain me the way this one scene does.

-The Special Edition celebration. Really cool to see people from different locales celebrating the fall of the Empire. Seeing the Coruscant celebration on the big screen was great.

I don't know how ANYTHING could top the feeling when I first heard the words "No. I am your father." For a 6 year old boy to go see ESB and see that, messed my head up http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/shocked.gif.
It's the moment that tied everything together. The moment that showed how destiny played such a huge part in the saga, and how the story revolves around Anakin, not Luke.
Now I know that this wasn't in the classic trilogy, and is also not really considered a "scene", but Vader's breathing in Phantom Menace after the credits finish and the music ends, has got to be one of the eeriest things I have ever heard.

...and I'm sure there's more, but what a long, wonderful epic it is. Am I the only crazy one that likes to take a lazy Saturday and just make a marathon out of it? Break out the movie food(s) and immerse yourself in the greatest trilogy of all time??? http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif

My favourites? This could take a while. I know, some people don't like the SE versions but I do! Here goes:

ANH: http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/cool.gif

1. after the opening crawl, being awed by the sheer power and immensity of the Star Destroyer as it pursues Leia's Runner
3. R2 & C3PO debating which way to go after landing on Tatooine (sp?) "Well, I'm going this way..."
4. Jawas!
5. Luke's yearning for that "something" more in the twin-sun scene almost everyone can identify with in some way
6. Cantina scenes: Ben v. ? / Han v. Greedo
7. lift-off from Mos Eisley (super-cool view of the Falcon)
8. destruction of Alderaan (sp?) (sorry, but I really like the DS gunner dudes)
9. the whole cowboys & Indians sequence on the Death Star - running, shooting, hiding, wallowing in garbage - it's all good! "I don't care what you smell...!" http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/cool.gif
10. the TIE attack on the Falcon after leaving the Death Star, didn't you dream about getting to fire those big guns for days afterward? "DON'T GET COCKY!"
11. the revamped battle over the Death Star, yes the vintage edition is forever immortalized in cinema history and the SE edition really gave it that extra pep! http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

ESB: http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/rolleyes.gif http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/tongue.gif

(of course I like it, it just has it's moments - I know you know what I mean)

1. Luke's unawareness before the Wampa invites him to dinner ("You smell something?" *SMAK!*)
2. Probe Droids (didn't you want one to guard your room from pesky siblings?)
3. How did you feel the first time you saw a Walker? 5-6th grade for me, the attack on Echo Base was incredible! I also like the cockpit views from inside the different vehicles (snowspeeders, Walkers, etc.).
4. The Executor! Just when you thought there was nothing more awesome than an ISD...
5. Asteroid chase! http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/shocked.gif
6. Luke getting his presumptuous butt kicked

ROTJ: http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif

(I like this movie, I never quite understand why some don't. Oh well! http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/tongue.gif)

1. seeing an Imperial officer squirm under the scrutiny of a Sith Lord ("YOU MAY DISPENSE WITH THE PLEASANTRIES...")
2. C3PO's reluctance to see Jabba ("DIE WANNA WANGA!")
3. the metal bikini (good thing she stayed in the shade, hate to ponder what happens when that outfit heats up)
4. seeing Luke (not) walking the plank
5. the briefing room & the assembled Rebel fleet
5. the forest moon (didn't you just want to go hiking there?)
6. SPEEDER BIKES! I liked them a little better than pod racers for some reason - what do you think? http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif
7. Ewok villages
8. Luke v. Vader v. Palpatine http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/mad.gif
9. any & everything involving epic space battle in ROTJ: dogfights, major cruisers slugging it out, the Death Star vaporizing stuff ("Intensify forward firepower! AGGGHH!")

...and I'm sure there's more, but what a long, wonderful epic it is. Am I the only crazy one that likes to take a lazy Saturday and just make a marathon out of it? Break out the movie food(s) and immerse yourself in the greatest trilogy of all time??? http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif http://www.collectstarwars.com/ubb/images/icons/grin.gif

"Going somewhere, Solo?"

AHN: I like the cantina scenes and the destruction of the Death Star. I still think that is the best space battle in Star Wars. I also like the opening scene with the Tantive IV and the Star Destroyer flying right over your head. That sets the tone for the whole movie

ESB-The Hoth Battle is cool. One of my favorite scenes is Vader walking into Echo base, simply because that is my first Star Wars memory.

ROTJ-Jabba's Palace is cool. I love the speeder bike chase. And the Luke/Vader/Emperor duel is great. I love it when you see Vader looking back and forth between Luke and Palpatine

My favorite scene from the entire triology? Well, I'm glad you asked. Its Luke and Vader's duel at Bespin, and Vader revealing himself as Luke's father. IMO that is one of the best moments in movie history

"Jabba, you're a wonderful human being."
-Han Solo
