A sealed case of 32 Silver R2's on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1784136303)

Now if that doesn't make you angry, nothing will.

Madness I tell you, Madness.

Quick question Philip?

Are you sure this is were this should be posted.
Should it not be in the Saga Toys present section. images/icons/wink.gif images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/tongue.gif

Be mad at this seller, too. At least he had the brains to break up the figures into many auctions but note that the total for sale is 31 (a case minus one, of course).

NOT sticking up for the people but its not too hard to get several of the R2's. They were on Amazon.com for awhile and all you had to do is take a friend or family member into TRU and get them to buy some stuff for an extra R2

Hope everyone that wanted one got one though. I saw several frustrated scalpers when they were told there was a 1 per collector maximum images/icons/smile.gif and the cards were damaged too...that part sucks kinda for me though images/icons/frown.gif

Wow! A starting bid of only $20 bucks apiece, not bad. Only $31.25 each if you BIN the auction for a cool grand. Sweet!

Oh, wait...these things were free in stores, weren't they? Uh, nevermind then.

Crazy ol' bag!

GEEZ!
Thats twice what amazon is selling a free promotional toy for. These people must be twice as evil as our good friends at amazon.

There is a big difference between "getting several" and "getting a sealed case" of these figures. That box could have only walked out the back door, not the front.

I can't decide which is worse...That the item was listed, or that someone is actually paying 650 dollars for it.

However, what would have been cool is if someone had bid with a fake alias, and then not payed, cause, then the scalper would still get charged the fee for placing, and the fee for selling. Of course, the scalper would get the fee for selling back in 90 days or whatever, but, still loses the placement.

(not that I'm condoning such an evil thing...)

I cant believe that person paid that much. Maybe he thinks they are going to be like TF Vader.

I dont see anything wrong with Amazon.com selling them for $9.99 each. Its cheaper than spending 20 bucks to get one. Plus im sure there are people that dont have a TRU near them

BushiFox

Did anyone actually buy one for 9.99 from amazon? All you had to do was buy 19.99 worth of other star wars stuff at amazon, and the 9.99 was deducted...

Forget the fact it was at auction.
Forget the fact someone probably stole this case to sell it.

Think about this for a minute.

The IDIOT moron that bought the thing just paid 650 bucks for 32 Silver R2-D2 figures. That's 20 bucks per figure.

This same idiot could have bought 32 of them at Amazon.com (using 4 different email addresses)for just under 320 bucks.

OR...this same ignorant fool could have gone to several different Toys R Us stores....bought 650 bucks worth of Star Wars toys, and gotten 32 FREE R2 D2's.

Oh MAN.

The seller is low....but the buyer is the kind of moron that deserves the kind of anal probing he just got.

WHAT A DUMB SOB!!!!!!!

What is wrong with amazon selling these things is that they are clearly marked "promotional not for retail sale". It is just as bad as a scalper having connections and getting a huge quantity of these from a TRU and selling them himself.
If this auction was only posted for $300 would you still be mad? Some scalper would still be making 100% profit.

I actually spent 9.99 and shipping online at amazon. I had everything else I wanted and thus wasn't interested in wasting 20 bucks. I thought about getting that game (I can't remember the name now) that includes the Rorrworr figure, but it wasn't a Hasbro product, so it couldn't work. I thought about waiting until TRU stocked some of the newer figures that I'm missing (Ephant Mon, Destroyer Droid), but I was afraid that they'd all be gone by then . . . especiallly after reading about some jerk selling an entire case for 20 an R2.

BushiFox

The R2's on amazon sold out really really quickly.

The thing with Amazon "charging" the 9.99 for the r2, that was just so they could keep track of how many they had. (I think amazon only got like, 1500 of them) but, like I said, if you had bought the 19.99 worth of stuff from amazon, you would have gotten it for free.

If you havent noticed, Amazon and TRU kinda work together and to shop TRU online you have to go through Amazon. I dont see anything wrong with Amazon selling them for $9.99, its cheaper than spending $19.99 on stuff you might already have to get one, plus like I said, not everyone lives close to a TRU.

XR5
11-13-2002, 10:38 AM
That's my point exactly. Amazon has an inside track to get a bunch of these figures early and jack up the price 999%. It's just like a comic book store that has an inside guy at TRU that gets them all of the stuff first. If you want to support that fine just don't try to justify it.

BushiFox
11-13-2002, 12:12 PM
There is nothing to justify. The figures were free from amazon with the purchase of 19.99 worth of star wars stuff. The 9.99 was just how Amazon chose to inventory it. If someone chose to pay the 9.99 instead of buying 5 figures, well, there loss.

Ed3
11-13-2002, 06:44 PM
Inside track? ToysRUs.com is Amazon.com since TRU turned all of their online operations over to the Amazon folks over a year ago.

11-13-2002, 06:56 PM
the guy that bought them isn't too smart but the "toymom" that sold them just plain sucks and i let her know that with an email. don't worry, i didn't use profanity. just said my peace. images/icons/wink.gif

wasn't the seller's name "Toymom"?

I wonder if it's a guy or a girl.

11-15-2002, 01:38 AM
i said something about:

"so where'd you get all of those TRus GIVE AWAYS" i hope you feel pretty good about yourself with your stolen loot while there's little kids out there that can't even get one for their collection. but you got your money. real nice tough guy. ;(

oh well, i could've been more rude but i think i made my point.

i'd like to hear what/if anybody else wrote.

11-15-2002, 12:19 PM
toymom, yeah that's right. but "tough guy" just sounds better to me than "tough girl". either way he/she sucks!

BTW: did you ever find a buyer for your "ultra rare siver R2"? images/icons/grin.gif
