Head over to Artoosnews.com to see pics of the new Lego mini sets. Apparently they have them advertised in the new issue of the Insider which is just now being sent out. I gotta say they're pretty cool too.

Rebelscum's got news and a picture of them up now also:

I think these things are very cool. I love Legos and I love miniature stuff (the smaller the better), so this is a really fun combination. I'm quite curious as to how they'll be sold and at what price point. That would sure be one tiny little box if they were available as only one ship per. Should be interesting. However Lego puts them out there, I'll be buying 'cause these little guys just look cool!

I hope they make some more of these(A mini Falcon.). They look pretty cool.

The mini ships are being sold in two packs for $3.99. FBTB is reporting that each set comes with extra pieces that, when you collect all four sets, can be used to make a TIE bomber. This line has great potential.

I agree. Thats very smart on their part too by putting the extra pieces in each of the 4 sets to build a whole new ship. You'll almost be compelled now to buy all 4 regardless of it you like all the ships or not just to make the 9th one. I know I'll be buying at least 2-3 of each especially at that price.

I few clear LEGO rods and you have insane space battle diorama options. images/icons/grin.gif This is one of the best ideas LEGO has had in a long time.

Lego has never done anything like this before. I wonder if the mini Tantive IV that comes with the Star Destroyer was the inspiration?

I don't know, I think they're kinda cool. At such a low price they'll definitely make their way into my cart. I just hope they don't take away from the other cool lines.

Those're adorable. Makes me want to post a custom mini Imperial Star Destroyer I did years ago. Only thing is, I have to dig it out from a box that's on the bottom of a pile in my storage room.

Well, if I can get to it, I'll photograph it, post it on my site and give the URL.

At first they looked stupid, but I guess I might get them all. Especially Slave 1

These things are great, because I now have the chance to get a Lego Sebulba's podracer without paying at least $75! images/icons/smile.gif

<font size="2" face="arial">Yes, since on their site they said the Tantive was "first of similar-sized ships".

Here's an idea, they should package these things like the 25th Anniversary 3 3/4" two-pack figures were done, in little clear plastic aquariums. They could just drop in the packet of pieces and the instructions and sell them on the shelf that way. Since the ships are so small this would help protect them and also make them look great on display.

These ships look pretty cool. Any idea if they're going to have a plain-Jane TIE?

You know, it'd be neat, considering their scale, if they were to release for the mini scale a Death Star. *grin*

Get one of those, a bunch of SDs, maybe build your own Rebel Fleet and recreate the Battle of Endor. images/icons/smile.gif

I will pass on these. Unless the TIE bomber looks any good these just are a little simple for my taste.

Neat idea but more fun for the younger generation.

Love the concept, but I will take 'em on a case by case basis.

i wanna hold one in my hand before i pass judgement... BUT it's 50/50 right now (like/dislike)

Lego stuff is dope (as in cool, dude). I love that this **** will cost less. Legos break my wallet and burn my credit cards when i sip them through the readers!

12-22-2002, 03:06 AM
I wasnt even aware of them til I looked here. They look sweet and I'll definitely be buying some images/icons/grin.gif Are there others planned?

12-22-2002, 03:16 AM
Yes. AT-AT is all we know, but with the small amount of pieces and the high price tags, you can expect LEGO to make MUCH more!

here are some close-up pics of the minis:

My girlfriend and I got a $150 gift card to Target this afternoon, and went shopping.

I spotted the LEGO Mini Sets to my surprise! I took them to a price checker in the store, they rang up as $0.00. The cashier tried to key in the
UPC, but to no avail. I just got home and apparently she did'nt even charge me for it!
Just my luck.

Of course I got the Slave 1 vs Starfighter set, now I need another one to open. I just thought I'd let you guys know they now carry the sets, and I saw all 4 sets that are available on the LEGO site.

Oh my gosh!! SHOPLIFTER!!! AHHHH... Just kidding images/icons/wink.gif Nice find. Did they have all of the 2003 line?

Just the 2002 Mini Sets, because believe you me, I'd rack up on the Rep. Gunship minis.

I am assuming that the price will be similar to the lego.com (http://www.lego.com) prices.

i went to target in mckinney, tx today and found the mini sets too. they tried to ring them up and there was no price availible so it took them about 45 minutes to figure out why and when they realised that they weren't supposed to have them on the floor yet the took them away from me and put them back in their stock room. jerks!

Chuckles

Same thing happened to me. I found 2 of the mini sets over the weekend at a Target and they too would not ring up. So I just said the retail price of them was $3.99 and she punched them in as some misc item. Works for me.
