Done. When, not if, when this this figure is made, I want to know I was the #7 guy that made it happen. I may even design a t-shirt for us to wear to conventions, promoting the Ice Cream Maker Guy. I'll start doodling on it.

Tee hee!

That's really nifty, OCB! Me likes! You've got me all inspired to someday try making an Ice Cream Maker Guy custom...

Anyway, I would love to sign the petition, but I'm worried about giving my e-mail address and having it "harvested" by spammers (as unfortunately so often happens with these things). Is the e-mail address going to be visible in any way to the outside world? Is there anything to worry about? images/icons/smile.gif

Thanks again! Looks great!

The man, the myth, the legend, now has his own personal website and petition to get him made into plastic form. Jabba, bah, Poggle the Lesser, no match for ICMG, I expect about 10 signatures total, this will be forwarded to Hasbro. If we are lucky, he will be made someday. It worked for Prokins, it worked for Wuher, it worked for Tessek (just ask Ry-T images/icons/wink.gif it can now work for Ice Cream Maker Guy

http://www.geocities.com/ocb75

or the petition directly:

Thanks for your support images/icons/grin.gif

We will get this done, one way or another images/icons/grin.gif

I said it in the companion thread (http://www.rebelscum.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=26;t=002283) in the Saga/AOTC forum, and I'll say it here...You guys better be careful. Next thing you know, you'll all be *****ing and moaning that they came out with this guy when there are so many better choices that need to be done first.

Besides the sheer wonderfulness of having an ICMG figure images/icons/grin.gif this would be excellent for custom fodder. He's got a pretty generic outfit and a perfect head for some new rebel pilots etc. I'm 10 on the list so you know I'd pick up a few of him.

I just signed the petition (#354, whoo!) after a bit of stalling, but I definitely hope this works. It's a lot more worthwhile endeavor than making petitions for figures we know will eventually get made (Poggle is an obvious choice to be a figure, and Rob Cole... I mean, Coleman Trebor is too distinctive a Jedi not to be made). I really would love to have an Ice Cream Maker Guy running on my desk, with his convoluted EU backstory cluttering the simplicity of his split-second onscreen appearance. Ah, what a dream. Good luck!

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news and ruins all this hero worship, but I think we can finally deduce what ICMG's lot in life was. First, let's take a look at some basic facts.

1. Wears an ugly brown suit.
2. Appears to have not showered for sometime (Look at that greasy hair).
3. Has bad posture.

Most of you will quickly jump to the conclusion that he's either a scalper or an elementary school gym teacher. But neither of these wear ugly brown suits. Let's zoom in on the dark spot on his outfit:

http://atlusparker.homestead.com/files/icmg.JPG

Sorry to ruin the mystique, but ICMG is nothing more than a parcel jockey. Of course, he is trying to deliver that ice creamer maker despite the odds so he IS dedicated.

I sense that all the scalpers and *******s who buy figures in mass quantities are watching the out come of this petition very closely.

Nobodies going to get this figure if it’s going to be made, and it’s going to be very sad. lol

06-28-2002, 11:43 AM
So what if he has an Ice Cream maker, there are plenty of cool, Cantina Aliens, Jabba's palace aliens, jedi council members, podracers and galactic senate members to be made. But my solution for this figure would be for Hasbro to make a figure called bespin pilot which would basically be this same guy yet come with a removable helmet like the one some of the other cloud city background characters were wearing and his ice cream maker guy. This way he can be used for Ice cream maker guy, another cloud city resident and the cloud car pilot(since the vintage one was not shown in the movie), heck they can even include a repainted version of him with the twin pod cloud car. Either that or Hasbro could just repackage Ice Cream Soldier from G.I. Joe(JK)
<font size="2" face="arial">Mc Farlane makes statues, Toy Biz makes marrionettes and Hasbro makes action figures

Old_Cocky
06-28-2002, 11:49 AM
I've said that before Puppetboy, not so much on this site but others where people wonder why they should sign the petition...fact is we never have seen an actual Cloud Car Pilot before out of the Cloud Car...and the Cloud Car Pilot was just its head in the model. ICMG should include a CC pilot helmet as a pack-in methinks too (along with scooper, Ice Cream Maker and paper hat)

Puppetboy, basically, without this petition, there isn't a chance in hell of this figure ever being made. It's the TRUE fan choice. If we get this made, it won't just be a figure. It'll be a trophy.

I kind of found it insulting that Hasbro would put characters like Imperial Dignitary and Eeth Koth on the "Fan Choice" ballot when we know they're going to make them sooner or later anyway. It's as if they have some half-finished figures on a shelf and they're asking us which ones they should bother finishing. For example, Eeth Koth only got like 18% of the "Fan Choice" vote, and yet he beat Amanaman to the pegs.

Don't waste time petitioning for figures that will be made anyway; waste your time petitioning for figures that'll never, ever get made without our pigheaded fan-boyish beligerence. images/icons/grin.gif

There's a big SW fanbase there, and I think its a completely different crowd. Which means completely different signatures.

*email every Star Wars website you can before you pass out and ask them to post news about it.

*Post links on every Star Wars forum or bulletin board

*We need a logo.

*spread that logo all across the internet

*make the ice cream maker cool, like that Andre the Giant thing.

Well, someone brought the word to Hasbro for OCB's plight:

(Stolen from the Rebelscum transcript:

Q: Are you guys aware of the petition to make a Bespin Ice Maker Guy Figure?

Andy: We're getting pretty obscure when it come to the Bespin Ice Cream Maker. That's about as obscure as you can get. We do keep an eye out at what people are saying, and as Mark mentioned before, we really do care. We do keep our ears to the ground, so to speak, and our eyes on the internet to see what people are saying about different things, and we'll take it under consideration. To be honest, we may hear a petition for one thing which may or may not be into consideration, but it's always nice to hear what people want to see. That may help something get into the next Fan's Choice selection, where we really get a good idea about how many people want to see it. It's pretty obscure with that Ice Cream Maker Figure. I don't know if we can find enough reference. (laughter)
<font size="2" face="arial">Sounds like they can appreciate the obscurity. Go Go ICMG, once again! images/icons/grin.gif

6% of the way to 10,000. I really would like someone to take a petition to one convention, an easy way to pick up 500-1000 sigs. Anyone???

Come on guys, OCB can't do this alone! Every little bit helps. Everyone who has a website (and wants the ICMG) should put this on there as a link to the main page of the ICMG petition. Everyone who has a friend should email the petition to them, and so on and so forth...Any way that you can help, you should! images/icons/grin.gif

Any chance one of the major sites would put this on their main page? It seems campy enough for Yakface, though I suppose it depends on if those guys would even like the idea of ICMG.

As far as sponsorship...SSG is out, he won't even give me a plug on his website, I don't think RS will do it even though that is what I would prefer, and that leaves Yakface (of the big 3). Other sites possibly would but I am not so sure about it would garner the exposure needed to gather signatures. I am not sure if Adam would do it or not...we corresponded a couple times when the drive first started and he was skeptical of the whole internet petition drive...and I kind of agree with him, but he realizes this is all sort of a joke so you never know, I'll think about it and maybe write him, I don't think it will go though.

ICMG gets more screen time than Aurra Sing did, and she got a 3 3/4" AND a 12" action figure! I have yet to see that yellow R2-unit from the E2 previews OR the Nikto Jedi in the film! So, why not ICMG, who you can CLEARLY see running through the Bespin corridor?

I think this would be the coolest action figure ever if it were to be made, as this is the true definition of a grassroots campaign. I would short pack him in Collection 2 but damn it, I'd make him. Hello! Keep up the good fight OCB! I am proud signatore #159. To get this figure made would be the ultimate testament to Hasbro.

Until your petition, I was horribly unaware of the Ice Cream Maker Guy and his tremendous impact on the Star Wars galaxy as we know it. For all we know, it could very well play out that the plans for the second Death Star were hidden in that Ice Cream Maker Of Mucho Importance. As Willrow left Bespin his Bothan escort was ambushed and many perished, and many more died in the struggle to get the plans (and the ice cream) the the Rebels...

I would encourage all of you out there to get the word out to anyone who cares, and bother the ones who don't care because you can and it's fun.

Help me Ice Cream Maker Guy, you're our only hope.

OK, now its time to spill the beans on my big ICMG push...

I had the Sand Diego Star Wars Society semi run a petition drive at the Comic Con this weekend. I haven't heard from the President yet but she assured me they were going to push it hard, I'm hoping for 300-500 signatures (fingers crossed) Z The bad part was though that she didn't get my stuff there until late Friday so it only had two real good days of promotiuon, luckily it happened to be the two biggest days of the con.

And Bill Hootkins, Porkins himself was at the Comic Con supposedly, I asked a couple of people there to try and get him to sign it as that would be a real gas, Porkins the inspiration of my drive signing the ICMG petition images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/grin.gif

Should have word tomorrow how it went, it was stationed at the autograph section featuring Kenny Baker, David Prowse, Amy Allen etc. So it should have got a good push images/icons/smile.gif

I have been quiet on purpose the past few days. partly because of the negative vibes all petitions have been getting and partly because I didn't want any competition at the con images/icons/wink.gif

The search for ICMG!!!

Anyone have any idea what actor might have played him? I think he looks an awful lot like Bill Nunn, the guy who played Radio Raheem in "Do The Right Thing." He was also one of Wesley Snipes's inner circle in "New Jack City."

Melkor
08-06-2002, 12:51 AM
And I reiterate, ICMG has more screen time and/or action than a LOT of other characters Hasbro's seen fit to release as action figures, like:

Aurra Sing
The E2 preview R2-unit
Orn Free Taa
Nikto Jedi
R4-M9
Takeel
Zutton
Djas Puhr
Lak Sivrak (Hell, he was replaced by Ketwol in the Special Edition! They DIDN'T replace ICMG!)
Death Star Droid
Pote Snitkin (well, he has more screen time but you never get a good look at him)
Prune Face
Ishi Tib from the rebel strategy meeting in ROTJ
The POTJ black R2-unit

What is this prejudice against HUMAN esoterica, eh? What, you have to be an alien or a droid with .0001 seconds of screen time to merit an action figure? What's up?

I feel bad as there is a huge anti petition vibe I have been seeing throughout fandom images/icons/frown.gif The sucess of this puppy has a lot to do with that.

All along my original intent was humor...then to see if there could be even a remote chance, and now to spread the word as wide as I can. Hasbro has acknowledged the petition but more often than not I encounter, ICMG sucks, what a waste etc etc. I realize people have their pet wants and I can appreciate that but the whole thing has started to feel really dirty and slimy and not the good natured fun I originally intended it to be. You would not believe the seriousness I get for responses on other fourms images/icons/frown.gif

Well, in the next week we should pass 1000 and to mark the occasion I have something in store for the monumental event. A contest of some type images/icons/smile.gif Stay tuned ICMG faithful

Still awaiting my petition forms from San Diego, still spreading the word across the net, the petition stands at 889 people.

I plan on a contest of some sorts for the monumentus 1000 signature...a couple of ideas...

#1 A Custom Ice Cream Maker Guy Contest (I may talk to Dan Curto about this one)
#2 A Random Drawing
#3 ICMG Trivia

Winner receives some saga figures or an Ice Cream Maker which I might go get from Wal Mart or Target, it keeps with the idea of the whole kitschy feel of drive and website.

I'm not going to highjack ICMG's petition, and I won't let this turn into another Coleman thread, as the garbage should stay there where it belongs.

Settle down fellas, I think our petitions were started within days of each other, and I think you switched your petition host to mine after I started there IIRC, I do know I heavily promoted mine before you did though JP and then kind of backed off when 8 different petitions sprung up within the next two weeks, Sandcrawler, Jedi Luke I and II, Dorme, Pablo Jill, 4 different ones by someone named Jedi Daxter etc And not that there is anything wrong with petitioning your favorite character, I can see how people got overwhelmed, because if ICMG a lameoid background character (who isn't even at the top of my wishlist) can get 100 sigs my more even more important guy can too. And for that I apologize for starting the whole ball really rolling on petitions everywhere (not yours JP, you guys have worked really hard and are having as much fun as I am!!!)

Angry Ewok, I haven't had time to add the wallpaper yet, I will though when I get some spare time, I need to rearrange some things a little images/icons/smile.gif Maybe an idea would be the best representation of ICMG you can come up with, custom figure, drawing, sculpture, painting etc.

Oh driley, feel free to move this...I don't agree with the decision but will abide with it...these petitions are talking about a need for future Saga figures, if you are going to discriminate against one why not all wishlist type threads??? just curious...

A lot of your points are true. The threads started within 10 days of each other. And, although Coleman's petition came first, when I saw that you had found an online petition host (I couldn't find one for my life!) I did switch the Coleman petition over there. I boiled and popped a Skiff Guard Lando, shaved his hair back a little and painted it, and used the Imperial Officer for the jumpsuit and painted it the beautiful puke orange images/icons/smile.gif I need to work on doing hands as I usually will just paint them black or make sure they have gloves so I don't have to match colors. I also need a Dremel images/icons/frown.gif

The maker I made out of Sculpey and I also need to make a new one but I am happy with him for now until Hasbro makes one too...

If they were to make this figure... I don't know if I'd be pissed or happy. I mean, Pissed that I'd rather be getting a new Mara sculpt or Maybe a line based on the NJO books... but happy that Hasbro decided to listen to the fans and collector. Either way, it's still cool..I signed long ago. images/icons/smile.gif

For a modern one...

How about a Bespin Luke head swapped with a Bespin Lando...paint the jumpsuit and hands...and there you go. In fact I might do one of those!

Petition: Bespin Ice Cream Maker Guy
June 20, 2002 | 2:04 AM EST | Adam

NOTE: Many of your emails seem to show that you believe we created this petition-- we didn't. Reader Scott set up the whole deal, the post below is just our announcing what he's created. Back to your regularly scheduled news.

When it comes to petitions, it's our policy to give a shout-out to those who manage to get at least 100 signatures. As we're true to our word, here's what reader Scott Pearson put together:

"Ice Cream Maker Guy

Bespin's frozen novelty specialist in all his glory...

Here is my Website giving some background on ICMG

http://www.geocities.com/ocb75/

And here is the petition which I started yesterday...

http://www.petitiononline.com/icmg/petition.html

Thanks!!! And lets all hope someday soon Ice Cream
Maker Guy will be hanging on the pegs!"

Yakface.com is now working on revising its petition policy.
<font size="2" face="arial">You are spot on though as to why, just to see if we could do it.

I was number 12 to sign this back when it got started, I can't beleive it has made it this high and seems to continue to grow, that rocks!

I would really love it if this figure gets made, I guess just to have proof that we are listened too. It's easy to put a bunch of figures up to have people vote on to be made, when they were most likely going to be made anyway. But a figure like this would prove we have a voice.

I had the wonderfully talented Bill Cable give me his take on the one and only Ice Cream maker Guy. I think his idea of the Ice Cream Maker being a ice cream slinging cannon is one of sheer brilliance. Make sure you head on over to http://creaturecantina.com/ for more of Bill's work. And sign the Hasbro 3-3/4" ICMG Petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/icmg/petition.html) if you haven't done so already.

Thanks again Bill! And a question for all...what flavor is he slinging?

For those who don't know, his name is Willrow Hood, according to SW customizeable Card game. Now that is funny. His popularity is so widespread that he has a card. Now this is definately an industry influenced by its fans.
